This video was just suggested to me (it's November) and he probably wouldn't see my comment...but I scrolled through to see if anyone else told him "It's a SHIP"! Wondering if he starts calling it ship as the series goes forward. Now I have to watch and see.
We're both retired and my wife wants to do a driving tour or a train tour of England and Scotland in 2024. I spent 27 years in the aviation field but we both dred flying to Europe if previous experience for us is any guide. This video has just caused us to look at a transatlantic cruise as a serious option as it would be much more relaxing. Leaving from Ft. Lauderdale is a big plus. Looking forward to watching Part II next. Thanks for planting this idea in our heads.
Kate, I took an Alaskan 12-day cruise many years ago on the Island Princess (their largest ship at the time) and because I walked all over the ship, and while in port, I lost ten pounds even while sampling all the food at the three meals a day. I didn't snack in between as I wasn't hungry. Worked for me! (To be honest, though, I don't remember taking the stairs!)
I did 16 days from Ft. Lauderdale to Southampton on Sky Princess. It's easily one of the best vacations I ever had, despite the fact I caught a cold! Lol Casablanca wouldn't give us permission to dock because of Covid restrictions. We went to Gibraltar instead. You saved yourself sooo much money! Princess has horrendous issues with Wifi.
After a dozen transatlantic cruises on gray ships (no drink package, nor elevators) and numerous cruises on white ships, I know this will be awesome. Enjoy the transit, but especially the time in port and in Italy.
If you have a problem with sea sickness, they sell Seabands on the ship. These are elastic and you wear one on each wrists & they have a nub for a pressure point.
This video last year got me interested in transatlantic cruising and was the first of 100s of cruise videos I have now watched. I’d been a subscriber and a fan of your videos for years. Today you showed up in my mailbox. Congrats on the Costco cover!🎉
My first time watching your channel, I am considering a transatlantic. Your video was perfect - not all the glitzy stuff. Not too short or long, shared great pertinent information and just hit all the topics I wanted it to. I am off to check more of your content - thank you! Craig
Damn, that is one helluva deal. Sure, you're spending more time at sea, but you still get 3 amazing port stops, a premium on-board experience and a nice final destination in London, where you can have an extended stay if you choose. If I ever take a cruise, it'll definitely be a repositioning deal like this. It's an unbeatable bargain!
Did the west coast of Mexico cruise, and was totally reassured that I wasn't adopted, as I got as seasick as my mom used to. Dramamine became my best friend, I would time it so that it was out of my system as we went into port, so I could enjoy libations on land. My wife believes that an Alaskan cruise might work as it's calm along the inland passage. One of these years we'll have to find out.
Hope you enjoyed your cruise. We love the time at sea even more than the island visits. WiFi is usually crap on the ocean. Better in the ports when you get off. And the difference between a boat and a ship ... ? You can put a boat, on a ship. You can't put a ship on a boat. Enjoy Italy. A beautiful country.
We're a week ahead of you on our first transatlantic cruise. We originally booked a transatlantic on Princess for April 2020, but it was obviously cancelled. Our current sailing is on Oceania Riviera. The crossing was wonderful with no rain and no rough seas. We love watching the sun setting into the water. WiFi has been decent enough to stream (4Mb). Enjoy!
So excited to watch your new adventure. Looks like so much fun!! I’ve done a shorter Hawaiian Islands cruise but would love to do what you are doing. I got seasick too Joe. The patio will really help. 💕
Yay! Cruise time. Never been in one. But would love too. Will live through you. Hope the camper van rental smooths out with no issues. Looking forward to that too. Be safe you guys!
Hey Russos , Gone with the wynns is also in Italy now and they are renting a van and traveling around while they wait for their new boat to be finished you should try to hook up with them. They might have good info on renting..
Our future repositioning cruise will be in an interior cabin, which we're hoping won't get us seasick. Always use Costco for all our cruises - it really is a pretty good deal with the shopping card after the trip. Ours will be a 25 day trip from Fort Lauderdale to Athens on Holland America. On Holland Wifi, they have the slower internet for a nominal fee, and for yet *another* upcharge you can get the "premium" speed - although not sure what Princess offers. We had that on our last cruise, and it was okay for Zoom and Facetime, but not so good for RUclips (which I think they somehow lower the priority on).
We tried a cabin with a window view many years ago to see if we would like it. Never doing that again. Balcony cabin ever since. Worth the extra bucks.
A lot better rooms and surroundings. I bet the food is better than my three trans-Atlantic cruises. Of course all three of those cruise were onboard an aircraft carrier, but I would not have traded the experience for anything.
Psssst, yes I know you'll get this after the cruise is over, and I hope you had a blast. Just one small comment, what you're on is a "ship". Boats don't have windows.... that why they call a submarine a "boat", or a little "row boat" with oars I hope. Enjoy.... and safe travels. For 25 years was a cruise only agent, yea... worked at Costco Travel when based in San Diego.
WTR, hello, over the years,I never went on any cruises,,as working only had a week, but sometimes tool 2 unpaid vacations, don’t ask, just like we never had any sick days, either, enjoy your trip,,till next time,,, 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sailed Miami to Lisbon last Oct/Nov on NCL. Very full entertainment schedule including two comedians, a magician, two broadway-lite production shows, and a trio from London and two other separate acts. Different show each of the 20 nights. This didn’t include four piano/guitar/duo performers.
Really enjoyed your videos as its something my wife and I have talked about doing. It looked from your videos that the ship wasn’t close to full - what % of capacity were you at, if you know?
Good luck in avoiding Covid. Despite, my best efforts, myself and hundreds of other passengers contracted Covid on a 20 day repositioning cruise last October.
Sorry about bad luck. Sailed Miami to Lisbon beginning October 31 and I’m not aware of anyone testing positive, although someone may have. Better luck next cruise.
@@larrys4383 - I was on the first leg of the Sun’s Seattle to Lisbon repositioning cruise. We departed Seattle on October 11th, thru the Panama Canal, and arrived in Miami on October 31st. The cruise started out fine but within a few days it became apparent people were getting sick. By day 13…the day I tested positive…there was a chorus of coughing coming from cabins up and down the hallways. Even more disconcerting was the fact that most of the sick continued circulating throughout the ship and thus infecting others and causing the spread to be far worse than it could have been. I did what the contract I signed required and reported my illness to the medical center. Despite the promise that Paxlovid would be available, it was not. Far worse, the medical staff person who came to my cabin on day four of my illness deliberately falsified my retest to ensure a false negative. Needless to say, I’ll never again cruise on NCL!
I got it in early Feb and absolutely love it. I wanted something that would help monitor exercises, etc and this does all that and so much more. I looked at other Garmins and the Apple Watch. If you’re interested in the model I have, check the link in the video description
How are you handling medical/evac insurance for the cruise & land portions of the trip. Cost? Company used? Thinking about doing something similar next year
I just can't get onboard (heh) with an ocean cruise. Everything in the ocean is trying to kill me. I might consider a river cruise, but only because I figure I can swim to shore and Europe does not appear to have alligators or inland sharks.

Your cruise videos are informative and fun. Thanks for educating us.
Our pleasure!
I keep laughing every time the ship gets called a boat?!
You look for the boat ⛵ when the ship 🚢 is sinking😅.
It’s The Love Boat, not The Love Ship 😂 It’s Princess Cruises after all. Now where’s Captain Stubing? 🚢
What’s the difference?
🤦♀️
5:05 I was just going to comment about that; as cruisers take exception to the term “boat” for cruise “ships” 😉 🛶 🚤 🛥 🆚 🚢 🛳
I can watch any cruise video. I watch you because of your auto travels
