People told us it was old, but since we had nothing to compare it to we really did like it! It looks like Princess runs their world tour cruises using the Island Princess so that must’ve been great
Yes, we were on the Island for the 2023 WC. She is an older ship, but she is beautiful with an excellent staff. We have cruised many times on various cruise lines. We really enjoy Princess.
We love cruising and have been on around 15. We are doing our first 28 day transatlantic cruise next year to the Mediterranean and the Holy Land. Flying to Greece then return with 7 sea days to Florida. We will also be on Princess!
That's cool, if you like cruising you'll enjoy it and it sounds like you'll be in a nice position to relax after that stuff! Will you be on the Island Princess ship?
Really fascinating to get your insights as first time cruisers, and wow, have you guys literally dived in at the deep end! A long sea voyage transatlantic. But we are really looking forward to further instalments of what you experience and discover along the way.
I just found your video. I did a transatlantic cruise on the island princess in Dec. 2023 from Rome to Florida. So first 6 days of ports and tours in Europe and then a week sailing across the Atlantic. First, the Island Princess is a gorgeous “old world” ship. Beautiful wood and decor throughout. Second, I loved the easy going routine of the ocean crossing. Third, the crew was outstanding! I highly recommend!
Hi, I just discovered your vlog and subscribed! Very interesting, as a veteran of over 40 cruises, including five transatlantic cruises, I was very interested in why you chose one for your first cruise. Usually, the "pond" crossings are reserved for us old fogeys who have been there and done that. Mainly we like the "boredom" of a cruise with many sea days. A couple of questions, did you use a travel agent? Also, most cruise lines will fit menus to vegetarian and vegan passengers, just alert them before you cruise and see the Maitre D' at the start of the cruise, they'll take care of you. I'll be following your progress, nice itinerary by the way! Oh, one thing, only the Brits can make an afternoon tea worth a farthing!
Thank you for the interesting comment. I explained why we chose this cruise and dealing with the agent here ruclips.net/video/iRnUg9hmUXE/видео.html Our agent basically said “yes there are vegan options” and that was it. I’ve got a few more reflections on this that I’ll post in another video. We were certainly in the younger 1% of cruisers, which put a little pressure on us when it came to some upcoming activities in Iceland which we’ll post about soon 😂
It was a great video - thank you for sharing your travels! I am looking on doing a transatlantic so your information was super helpful for my planning. Muito obrigado 🙂
Nice job! I'm very surprised you picked a transatlantic cruise as your first voyage! Most folks would not have that much nerve, given all the concerns with the number of days, many sea-only days, chance of sea sickness, etc. It took my wife and I decades before we tried it (was great!). Congrats!
Thanks for commenting… we made a video more about why. ruclips.net/video/iRnUg9hmUXE/видео.html but yea we certainly went in at the deep end. I think basically everyone else was a seasoned cruiser. Did you find any issues with it?
@@tjandbtraveling No. We were well prepared with medications for every conceivable issue. Also, we went for a large ungraded cabin to better enjoy all those relaxing days!
Looks wonderful. You mentioned you ate at the Buffet 3 times a day. Did you ever try the Dining restaurants? I know they are quick to pick up on dietary restrictions and accommodate people.
Thank you for commenting! We did eat at the restaurants when we liked the look of the menu and got some on video… they usually had 1 or 2 options that were vegetarian, not often was vegan.
I totally agree! We were very relaxed, especially compared to a crazy long-haul flight. The age factor was real... we were one of 4-5 guest couples below 40 (maybe 50/60 too)
Hello, hope you enjoyed your first cruise. Can i ask being this was youe first cruise , why 16 nights. I myself have been on 8 in total and looking forward to # 9. Hoping it met up to your satisfaction. I love cruising , never had any unpleasant experiences . Look forward to next video
Awesome! It's a big of a long story, more about the destination than the cruise itself but we'll explain it in an upcoming vid. Where was your favorite cruise destination?
I would love to do a transatlantic cruise. A bit disappointing that people nowadays don't know how to dress formally and elegantly anymore. Especially on an elegant transatlantic cruise. Dark suits, evening dresses, dark shoes, elegant heels, etc. ...And isn't it easier to get exercise in the gym every day instead of walking up and down stairs, working up a stinky sweat throughout the days on the cruise.
haha thanks for commenting. We live out of our suitcases so we do not have room for such formal clothing... sorry to disappoint. We also did go to the gym every day, but general activity is also important - hence the stairs. We made our recent video on how we booked this cruise if you're interested
Thanks for watching! Id like to know if you’ve cruised before or not? what’s your opinion on them?
Going on my first transatlantic next month!
We were on the Island Princess for several months. Your video brings back great memories. You are right about the awesome staff!

That is awesome! We agree with all of that
I definitely remember seeing you guys in the gym!

De nada! Glad it was helpful, let us know how it goes, and most importantly enjoy!

Usually on cruises longer than a week it is mostly older ppl who can take more time off work. I find them really relaxing tho.

Love the vivo barefoots. I have gone through so many pairs of them.
We love them too, good quality, wide toe boxes ... and light! Perfect for us
We're doing a transatlantic in May, Fla to Amsterdam. My second, in 2016 I went from Rome to Fla. I'm glad to be cruising again.
Enjoy it! cruising is a such amazing experience 😍
thanks for commenting 😊
I wanna!!!
Was there a formal dress evening?
Technically there was, but not everyone dressed up. We tried our best but as you see in the video not exactly black tie 😂
I’m going on a transatlantic in April, it will be my second ever cruise, miami to rome 💀😭😭🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Oh wow! We loved Italy! I'm sure you'll have an amazing time. Thanks for commenting
you 2 make a lovely couple
Aw, thank you! We're really lucky to have each other.

You are not in formal dress or attire in any way. You are not slumming it but I would call your attire more business casual.
100%! Well we didn't have any formal attire so we thought we'd at least dress up nice
I find the younger generation, is lacking when it comes to proper attire .
We live with a luggage each and we don't keep w us those kind of outfits, we tried our best! lol thanks for commenting
Very easy , a bow tie and cummerbund , with a jacket . @@tjandbtraveling
