    The only problem with using ibc totes is they arent strong enough to supprt the ground when buried and they end up caving in. Put plywood on both sides of the cages to support the dirt

    Won’t your leach field pipes clog up with solids since they drain from the bottom of your tank? Shouldn’t they have been placed higher up and had baffles? Does this design actually work?

    • @cdoffgrid
      @cdoffgrid  Год назад +3

      Hi 3ehahn, they don't clog up because they are placed right on the top of the liquid level, please refer to the drawing from the thumbnail or you can see better on this short I made: ruclips.net/user/shortsexuu01FZiEc?feature=share

    No one ask about the integrity of the walls, they need to be reinforced? we are putting them on the ground and sometimes (depending on the configuration of the field) can be crushed by the earth.

    I’m trying to view your short to check on the way pipe was installed within and between the tanks. I’m still working on the hole. (Hard, compacted clay soil here)
    For a one person system, are two drain (leach field) pipes required?

    • @cdoffgrid
      @cdoffgrid  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Skashoon, bellow is the link to the short.
      About those leach field pipes, is better to have 2 pipes for better drainage, it is not required, but is more efficient.
      Good luck with your project! 👍

    Can't do that here in Texas it's against the law. Even in remote locations. Granted you could get away with it but if someone turns you in then it would suck. It's like a 10,000 dollar fine. All septic in Texas regardless if you install it or you have a contractor/plumber install it must be inspected by the county and IBC totes are an automatic fail!

    • @cdoffgrid
      @cdoffgrid  Год назад

      Kenneth Martin yes I heard that in some areas it's illegal to do that.

    How long will the plastic last underground?

    • @cdoffgrid
      @cdoffgrid  Год назад +1

      Hi Jodi Purvis, the IBC tanks can last up to 1000 years underground and PVC pipe can be expected to provide reliable service in excess of 100 years.

  • @jodipurvis9679
    @jodipurvis9679 Год назад +1

    How often do you have it pumped?

    • @cdoffgrid
      @cdoffgrid  Год назад

      We should only need to empty the septic tank once every three to five years depending on the usage.

    The pipes entering the first IBC container is too low therefore the container will not fill up with hard deposits and eventually will come back up the pipe flowing over into your back yard and back up your toilet back into your ass where it came out of. Sorry bro.

    That is completely wrong. The first tote (first chamber) needs to be HIGHER than the second tote (2nd Chamber). There should be a third tote for a 3rd chamber, Then out to the leech field.

    • @cdoffgrid
      @cdoffgrid  Год назад +4

      Thank you for your comment. However, I must clarify that your statement regarding the required configuration of a septic system is incorrect. While it is true that septic systems can have varying designs, there is no universal requirement for the first chamber to be higher than the second chamber in a DIY setup using two barrels. Septic system designs can be influenced by factors such as local regulations, soil conditions, and specific site requirements. The inclusion of a third chamber is not a mandatory component in all septic systems; it depends on the specific design and needs of the system. It is crucial to consult with local experts or professionals who can provide accurate guidance based on your location and specific circumstances.
      PS: I think you meant LEACH field.

    • @philmorrissette
      @philmorrissette Год назад +2

      @@cdoffgrid Ya Leach field... I'll give you that one... but for the rest, your installation is just plain wrong. Water doesn't flow uphill. The way you have the 2nd tank set up, your water level will never maximize the volume of the container, thus reducing your ability to settle any remaining particles before evacuating to the drain field. I'm Out.

      @@philmorrissetteyou think like a 5 year old😂😂 no logic🤣🤣🤣
      He already explained he encountered a rock in the ground and had to let the second IBC higher. But this doesn't affect the project at all!

      @@philmorrissette is absolutely correct here, and for anyone that can't realise this, you shouldn't be installing septic systems and you definitely shouldn't be making a video about how to do it the WRONG way!

    Shouldnt you glue around holes where leech line and drain line go into or have a gasket or something?
