Ronald Reagan created the slogan "Make America Great Again" in 1980. Trump even admited in an interview that he took the phrase from Reagan.
I'm surprised he actually read something. Besides the Forbes 100
I believe the term was coined by Carter in 1976 during his campaign against Ford. He definitely used it at a campaign address.
It's actually "Make America Great"

Reagan: "Missed me"
One of the best moments
Didn’t even flinch Reagan was the GOAT
I wonder if Reagan or Brady would have approved of the second amendment infringement’s affected by John Hinckley’s action?
I'm a Democrat, but Reagan was a legend.
Chris English was Brady’s wife that led the charge, as I recall.
Reagan was a huge proponent of the Raycon earbuds. He used to blast artists like The Weeknd, Run the Jewels, J Cole as well as some dubstep while in office using his earbuds. This is well known but wasn’t mentioned for some reason.
RTJ
"We must reject the idea that every time a Raycon is broken, society is guilty rather than the earbud breaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his Raycons."
-Ronald Reagan
I remember that. He let Gorby listen to some Black Flag on them at one of their meetings. It was said this event really pushed Gorbachev towards his ideology of Perestroika.
0p
I can't even play along with this joke knowing that Killer Mike from RTJ has a song speaking out against Reagan lol
Legend says right before he was put under for his assassination attempt injuries, he said to the ER surgeons:
"I hope you guys are republicans."
To which one of the doctors replied, "Mr. President, today we are all Republicans."
Legend also says that when Nancy arrived at the hospital and demanded to know what had happened, Reagan said, "I forgot to duck."
Plus, there's the outdoor speech he gave where one of the extremely large balloons popped and echoed. Reagan, mid-speech, didn't miss a beat, just paused and said, "Missed me."
At least he had a sense of humor about this assassination attempt.
The doctor was a lifelong Democrat too
Only 80s kids remember when America had a president everyone could love, not just one side of the country 😁
IMO the closest I've seen in my lifetime to that kind of man post-Reagan (besides Bush Sr.) was probably Obama in his first term. If I had to wager I think he had like 90% of the country behind him, that 10% being just the birther racist nutbags. Then he made disappointment after disappointment and got just like 60% left by the time he was reelected.
@@patricktsai2303 You could put the greatest man in the world in the white house and half of America would hate him today.
"Thomas Jefferson once said, 'We should never judge a president by his age, only by his works.' And ever since he told me that, I stopped worrying."
- Ronald Reagan
Thomas Jefferson owned 600 slaves and had sex with many of them, later abandoning the children.
(I know the comment is a joke, just making sure people know this because it was never taught in schools)
😭😭
Ironically he barely did any actual work in the whitehouse besides giving general directions from time to time
That's one thing I really miss, Reagan's 2nd to none humor.

Doc Brown: “Then tell me, future boy, who’s President of the United States in 1985?”
Marty Mcfly: “Ronald Reagan.”
Doc Brown: “Ronald Reagan? The actor? Then who’s vice-president? Jerry Lewis?”
Marty: So Doc, heard you returned from the year 2020. Who's the President of the United States of America?
Doc Brown: Donald J. Trump.
Marty: The real estate guy? Who's his VP, Michael Jackson? 😏
The accent + nicknames= gold
Ha Ha wow what are you doing here, GunsG?!
Nice to see you here Mr G ! :)
In his last public speech, he made fun of himself, Bill Clinton, and Lloyd Benson.
In 1988 VP nominee castigated VP nominee Quaile (who referred to himself to JFK) saying "You are no Jack Kennedy.
Fast forward, and Bill Clinton was comparing himself to Thomas Jefferson. Reagan copied the earlier speech. "Governor Clinton, I knew Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson was a friend of mine. Governor, you are no Thomas Jefferson."
I watched that live, not knowing he would never speak again in public.
Not long after the injury he was speaking in Berlin when a balloon popped loudly, he paused his speech for a quick joke...missed me. Noe that's awesome 😆

You didn't include his best nickname... "Ronnie Ray Gun" given for his Star Wars Defense Initiative {SDI) program:)

Wendy Beacall well after that we didn’t have any terrorists or problems from the country . I’d say it was effective
@@AverageJoe483 The Pan Am bombing over Lockerbie was after that, and was definitely Libyan sponsored, so you are definitely wrong.
Two things. The Lockerbie bomb exploded early leaving wreckage (clues) on land. The investigation took 3 years. Reagan was long gone from office by then. Jan. 20 1989 was his last day in office. The bombing was Dec. 21 1988. Also winter solstice, the shortest day of the year.
Now a bit about "Star Wars" the derisive nickname the plan was given by Reagan's enemies. It was a giant effort at a defense against ICBM's. The program had many detractors. It was the butt of many a joke by those on the left in the US. Knowledgeable academics from leftist Ivy League campuses and the west coast universities railed against. Ironically the ONE group that believed it might be possible was the Russians. The mere possibility of its success worried them greatly causing them to double down on their own spending. Which they could not afford. It was a big part of breaking their financial system.
In Berlin, Reagan is still enormously popular. Of non-Berliners, he is as popular as Kennedy and Gorbachev.
Need to
To do a video on Jimmy carter and Bill Clinton
Five things that shocked me about Reagan which aren´t mentioned in this video: He shut many mental hospitals and put thousands of patients on the street, he said that communism is worth than nuclear war and he remarked in regard to environmental activists who advocated against deforestation "A tree is a tree. How many more do you need to look at?"
And then there was also his microphone joke and his "Ketchup is a vegetable." attitude concerning school lunch.
But he did also good things: Winning cold war, running massive nuclear disarmament (as mentioned in the video), calling for a chemical weapons ban and helping to ban ozone destroying chemicals.
And in addition I like his haircut and his dress style. (Especially in winter I myself like to combine a red pullover with a white shirt whose collar looks out of that of the pullover just as Reagan often was dressed in his spare time. I copied that look from the tv short series "The Reagans". And his haircut I also used to imitate.)
The closing of mental hospitals was due to the abuses through the three previous decades of the patients in them. Persons were committed for almost any reason. There was experimentation without consent. To include injections of plutonium. These abuses came out mid 1970s and needed addressing. Some were sponsored CIA programs. So it wasn't arbitrary to just close them down.
However, we are now dealing with a large homeless population of SMI individuals and families that have to exert excessively to support the rest. This burden should be re-shouldered by the government due to the burden that it is.
Are you seriously just gonna leave out the fact that they were shut down because of numerous violations? He only shut down the ones that had cases of abuse and code violations. Which turned out to be nearly all of them.
@@Darkangel9036 Are you sure? I´ve heard he shut them in order to save expenses. Maybe I have been wrong. I was among other sources influenced by the mini-series "The Reagans" in which Reagan´s son Ron is shocked about closures of mental hospitals by his father (if I remember this already had been when Ronald Reagan still was Governor). His father murmurs then something about that these institutions didn´t help the patients but that comes across like a bad excuse.
What do you think about the other issues I´ve mentioned? What is your position on nuclear war and communism and on deforestation?
