- No security system is complete without lasers. We have all seen movies where the main character has to get past a high tech security system and there is always a room full of lasers somewhere.

So in this project, I show you how to build a laser tripwire alarm. All you need is a cheap laser point, a couple of mirrors, and a few dollars of electrical parts. With this you can cover an entire house with an array of light beams. If any one of them is crossed it sets off your alarm. And unlike in the movies, these lasers are practically invisible. - Хобби
For homesecurity I recommend to use 2 light sensors to prevent small flies/moths/insects triggering the alarm. They can be like 5cm apart and it would solve a lot of false alarms :)
Not a bad idea at all. Stealing
How to make that tho?
This is an awesome video series, well written and packed with info.
just finished testing it! Thanks bro, really enjoyed putting it together.
A well put together presentation.
Simply awesome :)
nice project
Amazing!
That was awesome !!!!!!!
Good one!
This video is everything apart from simple!!!
Awsome guy thnkx a lot for sharing this video 😉😉😉 the best guy on youtube
wow this is BAD ASS!
If you're going to use an arduino at all, you might as well bypass the 555 and use an analogue input to monitor the LDR.
I made this, accept instead of that tiny alarm, i used a larger alarm so it would scare the crap out of the intruder.
Add a strobe light and bigger sirens and make it outdoor compatible/weather proof
You need to post all the items needed on the project page
great
I've been doing this for a long time already.
Cool
Can someone please give me an exact materials list? Thank you!
Awesome, I still can't easily read circuit diagrams though.
It's pretty simple, I mean it's kind of silly but you can just pretend every line is a wire, and just go for it... what do you find hard about it?
MyMusicSosa The components, don't know half of them and the ones I kinda do, I can't keep straight.
Just think, -^^^^- resistor, -||- or -|(- capacitor and -nnn- inductor, and -|>|- diode or LED that's the basics, All else you can look it up, you'll get used to in no time, don't worry :)
Crowforge There are a lot of videos on here explaining the components. I like the Colin"s Lab videos. Also if you have a few bucks there are books written by Forrester Mims that teach all of that stuff including schematics of useful circuits.
i made one of these a fhew months ago... i used a light first instead of the buzzer, then i changed it with a motor that can do many things... you can easly make every kind of trap or mine just changing something: sort of a landmine. when i connected it to a glass bottle full of inky and dirty water suspended into the wall nobody entered my room anymore... lol
In the picture with the breadboard what are the 4 wires coming off the far left breadboard connected to
Can someone post a parts list for this project
Is there a 5000 foot long lazer. I got a big perimeter to cover
how much in total does this cost to make and what are the specific electrical parts
this project work fine
but I would like to keep the sound on even LDR still geting the light untill press reset button any body can help me?
Does anyone know How to connect this to a circuit which is in monostable mode which has a timed output, such that once the lasers has been interfered with, the buzzer goes off for as long as the times output
Why don't use a simple transistor and photoresistor?
what are the components in the circuit diagram. they are numbered but i cant figure them out
on this episode of make shit I'll never actually make:
Value of R1 resistor?
I want to build a wire trap game for my kids so the laser need to be visible in the dark but not too dangerous for the eyes. Any suggestions for a laser pointer?
yes
How can I put a relay instead the piezo?
Can I do it with a 4,5v relay?
Please help!
regards from Germany !
Sorry for bad English :D
How long would the laser itself last? say if the laser would run over-night for every night of the week
You can figure this out if you have a multimiter. If your entire circuit is hooked up to the batteries, you can use your multimeter to probe for current-draw, then check how many mah your battery-pack is rated for. This means, if your circuit draws 100 milliamps and the battery pack is rated for 1000 milliamp hours, your circuit should last 10 hours. Of course, if that isn't enough, you can always use a mains DC powersupply with a voltage limiter to limit the power to ~4.5 volts.
tomalotube
you are right, i don't think you need all that power...
That laser pointer wouldnt last more than a day or two if it were constantly on. Someone earlier recommended using Infrared Diodes and sensors. Those would last way longer on less power.
how do ya turn it off
What do you call the block that the 555 is set in on the pcb ?
Part number ?
Thanks.....
Never mind, got it.
It's an 8 pin dip socket, retention block is another name but will bring less hits.
laser should be modulated and in either IR or UV
Can i like buy it somewere?
how much is the R1,R2=R3 ??
It works !!!!!
You need to know the value of the photoresistor when shining the laser on it by mesuring or to search the details of the model of your photoresistor !!
And if you want the buzzer works you need the power of the buzzer needed (me was 5v)
Buy part list on ebay or tayda electronics !
+JS7457 can i have the list of parts needed

+JS7457 thanks a lot.... most of the parts are already in my arduino starter kit... and do u know where can i get the source code for this project
+Supachai Abusali source code ?
no problem i already got it
Battery blew up, I think I need to get smaller resistors
As soon as i turn it on, it beaps
Hay guys is anyone able to list exactly what I need to make this.
No parts list?
WOW that's complicated.
Me at 2:00 am: watching a video on how to make a fucking laser trip wire alarm
Kristina Hamilton its 4:10 am for me
Anxiety! At the discø 3:03 am here
Anxiety! At the discø 21:07 here in Manchester UK
Me 1:04 am
Works this too with 12v ?
just use an lm317t to regulate the voltage down!
How to delay beep five second
i made it and it stoped my house from being robbed becuase i set it up to call 911 thanks
I want a laser trip wire connected to my phone every time it’s disrupted it send an alert to my phone
where can i get the source code for this?
+Supachai Abusali There is no source code. Until you start hooking up arduinos to it.
omg the audio
It’s like Kaplan from r6
Theres a laser that someone walks in it turns into other program or desktop
O IS GOOD
What is the requirements
Ulises Villarreal Zalazar oh i have one :v
Ulises Vil
I do all the projects of the channel, I just don't do the projects with the arduino because I don't have
Buy a Teensy. They're 16 bucks and use a similar code base,
Have one more thing, is difficult to buy this boards and components cause I'm brasilian
I ve it so much make a stop motion jurassic world dominion
I suppose this would work if nobody knew it was there but once they are aware couldn't they reach in and flip the switch off before they walk in.
This video is merely to show of how the system works. It's your job to implement it in a way it works for you. You could do what RealCaptainHindsight says or you could build a protective casing. Options are limitless...
zyksii Might also be a good idea to put a cone round the sensor to stop bright ambient light from preventing it triggering.
dont use google+ things in ru comments
AwsomeProMasterDude why? Are you part of the anti-google+ sheeple party?
AwsomeProMasterDude you lost your tongue?!
yeah, we all saw that laser is working, but this video doesn't show if the whole thing is actually working, we don't know did you really trigger it when you walked by it...
like macgyver
Next is to hook the laser up to a M16 machine gun.
You could hook it up to a whole host of things. I think I would hook it up to a powered fog boat horn,The only downfall would be having to clean up the pee and poop of whoever entered the area.
Meltingfaces lol I like that ideal a lot.
Connect this to a speaker that plays scary noises
HUH?????????
Place a turret behind it
"Are you still there?"
run it all off a 5VDC power supply
Also good if you have pets that get up on your kitchen counters. Have the beam shine across their walk path but not where you may have your hands.
In our case it is a cat that likes to look out the kitchen window. The beam goes where the cat positions its shoulders. Sorry I cant do a vid as it only took two attempts on its part to realize it didnt care for the intermittent beep beep. grin
man
Managed to hook it up to a car battery, overkill anyone?
That will let it run for eternity, but remember to use a regulator or the circuit will burn!
+PunakiviAddikti of cource!
course*
Hi
The
English please
gr8 b8 m8 i r8 8/8
These schematics are incorrect, this circuit will not perform as described. Do not waste your time.
I trust you... A complete stranger without pointing out any flaws.
Here's my story:
It works perfectly.
See... We can both talk without proving anything. 😂
@@m_i_g_5108 I breaboarded the project exactly according to the schematic, when I power it on the piezo is already buzzing. First thing I tried, I changed my breadboard setup to the exact layout used by the video creator (even though both of our layouts were electronically identical), no change. Next I swapped out my 555 for a fresh one, no change. Next I subbed out R1 for a 10k potentiometer and tried every possible value, no change. Then I tried multiple photocells/LDRs which were all tested on my DMM, no change. Then, I tried to determine what mode the video creator was using this 555 timer chip in, as it didnt appear to be monstable or astable mode; I couldnt. I then added 01.uf Capacitors to stabilize the chip, no change. So I began to scour the comments, both on here and also on the instructables page made by the same person. I began to see MANY people having the same issue. Then, one of the commenters asked the author what mode is he running the 555 timer in? The author's response "This project doesn't use any of the standard 555 timer modes. It uses a different configuration that I came up with." That is all I needed to hear, doesnt sound reliable enough to work as an alarm for an intruder. If you want something that works, look up Forrest Mims' version of the 555 laser tripwire alarm. I did, works every time. Published and stood the test of time apparently.
02:00 Is that what I'm thinking it is? A women? On the floor?
This time I will use Stodoys instructions to make it.
Thanks for a useless video. We don't all know what those parts are, and you very broadly go through what to do. Thumbz downn.
you're such an idiot it took me three seconds to look those parts up and i have zero prior knowledge of circuits
+abacrdred3215rftd Burns K. Good for you bro. But just because you have the parts doesn't mean you'd know what to do with them, given the basic instruction of the video, also given you say you "have zero prior knowledge of circuits". The creator of this video, "Make" conveniently named this video something it lacks. "how-to". I fail to see where the How to comes into this video.
abioticstew 73 wanna tell me what they are
Boring
Just like you!
I know you are
