  • As much as I loved Alaska, duck hunting in Minnesota was something I have been eagerly awaiting and the first hunt of the season was a special one! We headed out to the cattail marsh that I hunted a few times last season and setup on the edge of the closed zone with the hopes of trafficking birds as they came in and out of the refuge. The action was steady with a mixed bag of birds coming into our decoys and a few Sandhill Cranes giving us a look as well. Hope you enjoy!

    • @walterwhite1556

      @HokeOutdoors Honestly kind of below average. I live on the MN-WI border so I hunt both stated. I find better luck in WI personally, though.

    • @HokeOutdoors
      @HokeOutdoors  7 месяцев назад

      I'd say it's the same kind of season so far up in this part of MN as well, just not enough weather to push the big ducks down yet. Hope it picks up for y'all down there soon!

      @@HokeOutdoors Northwest and South had a good teal season as always. Northeastern/Central was in my opinion less then ok because of feed and water. If you are coming to hunt go northeastern late or central timber when weather, water and migration meet. Can’t not beat the latter when it’s right but northereastern/southern later will have better numbers.

      They are the best eating bird in my opinion! We do stuffed crane breasts and turn the legs into tacos with the slow cooker, was pretty bummed we missed them on this hunt. Much appreciated about Bonnie! She's Cory Loeffler's dog, but I get the pleasure of running her sometimes since I work for him, all the credit on her training should go to him and Tim Springer from Dynamic Retrievers!

    His issue with his shooting is his follow up shots are too soon. He’s not acquiring the new sight picture with his trigger pull. He’s simply just letting them rip off. (8 years firearms training)
