To be honest, this man does a lot of effort in order to produce a beautiful video, so when you go hunting, photographing, editing, and agreeing with all this on your own, this is a very beautiful thing. I hope you continue with your successes
You are the best waterfowl channel on RUclips still got a while before opener in Tennessee but your videos definitely help pass the time! 🦆🦆 keep up the great work 😃
Nice to meet you yesterday at the MN Game Fair, Thomas! Appreciate giving me the link to all those Goose Wizard Recipes. Keep the videos coming and good luck this upcoming season!
okay i love your videos, there was a hilarious moment there where you wen't from filming that widgeon calling to the next moment of it being stone dead and the dog picking it up. there should have been a "2 moments later" transition there LOL keep up the good work man i love your videos and im currently watching them to build up the hype for tomorrows MN Early Goose/Teal.
About gauge, a 410 at 1200fps has the same range as a 10ga at 1200fps. What you do not have is pattern density. You also cannot stuff that much big shot into a smaller gauge shell. Over decoys in pot holes I liked the little guns.
Yep the lack of pattern density past 30 yards is definitely the short coming of the 28 gauge. This gun patterns great but there's only so many pellets in a 7/8 oz load
Shoot your 20 ! I use a 20 for everything from geese to mallards and out here in California near titus so all my shots are 30 plus . No problem. 3 inch #2
@HokeOutdoors i got the beretta A 300 last year after shoulder surgery, and i love it.. dont even want to shoot a 12 guage again.. it's was like 750.00. i put carlson Delta's mid range choke and i shoot geese and ducks
The migration will be here before we know it! Water isn’t too bad down around my neck of the woods, seems like a very good hatch around here too. Hope y’all get some more water up there before the season opens!
The 12 gauge is king when it comes to pass shooting or just in general in my mind. I have debated getting a 20 gauge but go back and forth on the range and power of the 12. I think the 28 gauge is a fad not sure I would ever buy one. You need high powered expensive shells to make it hit well it seems. 12 gauge rules.
I think it would be a great gun for really skinny water but it was a little lacking on this hunt when they were skirting the decoys. Gonna just stick with the 12 gauge for most of this coming season
Guy that has high prairie sportsmen uses 28 gauge almost exclusively for all of his videos and he’s just as successful as anyone else using anything else
@@HokeOutdoors true but you have to challenge yourself sometime and it’s good to see you doing that. Even Bobby Guy will break out a 410 or 20 gauge single shot. You’re doing great and putting out great content
My buddy only uses a 20 gauge even on goose in field hunts he loves it says it don't ruin much meat like a 12 and kills like a 12 jus gotta get that eye tuned to your pattern it pops out
If you dont want that 28 any more ill take it off your hands be a awesome addition for my daughter to have in the blind lol they are bad ass guns to hunt with
@@HokeOutdoors Thanks. So no other changes? I don't think RUclips can display more than 4k30 and recently I have used 4k24. Trying to adjust other setting to be a richer color which you got in those angles. Maybe I'll ty 4k60
Yep that’s the gun, it’s a fun shooting little thing but not sure how well it’ll hold up over time. Seems pretty cheaply made. I haven’t switched to any particular wader, just been trying out some different ones the last couple seasons. I was borrowing the Sitka ones from Cory for a couple months to give them a test
Hey man. From an ethics perspective 28 gauge ain’t it. I get it it’s more fun. But those bids don’t deserve to get injured because you wanted to shoot a low power shotgun.
1300 FPS is the same whether it’s from a .410 or a 10 gauge. Absolutely no difference in power. The difference is one has 1/2 oz of shot vs 2 1/8 oz of shot. A 28 gauge with the appropriate payload is actually considered to be ballistic perfection, so when paired correctly it is just as effective as a 12 gauge

I appreciate it! There's certainly some work that goes into making these but having these memories saved forever makes it all worth it!
What a great gray duck shoot! I could watch them wigeon work in and swim around all day.
It was a treat to just sit back and watch the show! Learned a lot about wigeon on this morning!

Thanks Wilson! How's y'alls habitat looking over there for this season??

Thanks Eric! Pleasure meeting you as well! Hope you some use out of those recipes this season!
The wigeon hail call was a highlight of 22/23 season
She was talkin!
Here is another banger of a wigeon hunt. Again, my favorite bird. And again, great content. Love it all, man!
Thanks brother! I think you'll really enjoy the last hunt from this trip, should be coming out early next week!
Far left wig at 24:44 when it turns it's head you can see it's a storm
Yep I saw that as well while editing! I don't think he was completely storm, but definitely damn close!
@@HokeOutdoors ya I agree, super cool hunt

Cool hunt, man that was a lot of widgeon! 👍🦆

What a phenomenal hunt. I hope to get a Wigeon for the wall this season.
Thanks Will! Hope you're able to bag a mounter quality one this year!
great video!!
Thanks brother!
Another great video thomas.
Thanks brother!
Getting excited for opener in Wisconsin

I wish I had a good 20 to shoot. The only one I have right now if a little youth mossberg that doesn’t pattern very well

Wondering how this season is going to go. Pretty low water up here this year. Its great to watch these vids and get worked up for late September

Well for waterfowl it may be a fad, but 28ga has been around a long time. I shoot ducks with mine in timber and it knocks them stone dead.
Guy that has high prairie sportsmen uses 28 gauge almost exclusively for all of his videos and he’s just as successful as anyone else using anything else
Matt also has a very selective shot selection though. I like the flexibility that the 12 gauge offers which is why I’ll be sticking with it

Thomas, are you using a Hero 11 for the stationary camera overlooking the decoys? If so, can you share your settings?
I’m using a Hero 10. I believe the settings on it are 4K60 in Linear mode

Two questions, the 28ga in the vide is a mossy SA 28? And did you descide to switch over to sitka waders now from high and dry?

It can definitely be used ethically, it just wasn't the right tool for the job on this hunt with the way the birds were working
Plenty of people shoot 28ga on ducks. Better shells, tighter patterns, and a different environment are needed. This was a bit big of an area for a 28.
