- In this video, I rank every season of The Amazing Race so far, which includes 31 seasons, and give my short opinions on each. I will probably be doing more detailed videos on some of these seasons in the future.
My favorite leg was from Season 2 when Danny and Oswald go shopping then hang out at a 5 star hotel while the other teams frantically race to the airport only to have Danny and Oswald win the leg anyway.
That's because they smart. The plane ain't gonna leave any earlier than if they ran to the airport for the ticket agents and waited it out like peasants at the airports.
Mine is the final leg where Chris and his teammate follow Will and his then out run them
I liked that because we saw them be themselves for a moment. I've only seen it in pieces but sometimes you just have to forget the race on the race
@@francesca-selfproclaimed-bleep To be fair, this might've been a bad idea in a later season when everyone was better at finding flights. I can imagine Colin & Christie finding some flight that gets in 5 hours earlier by just constantly keeping an eye out for them.
@@cubedmelons876 Oh yeah, Oswald & Danny adapted very well in All-Stars to this by teaming up with Charla & Mirna. That season had a ton of flight fighting. "Desmond, kick some people off. Not everybody needs to go to Hong Kong. We need!"🤣

I loath the head to head. I'm only partway through watching season 30 and that twist alone has made it one of my least favorite. It's ridiculous that a team can arrive first but be eliminated. It's the stupidest thing ever.
It ticks me off even more because Phil has always said The Amazing Race doesn't need fancy twists like Survivor, but more than any other this twist proves just how ludicrous that is.
I do agree with season 8 being the worst. As for the two best seasons I would reverse your 1 and 2. I think season 21 was the best. It was very entertaining and the ending was so satisfying with the underdog Beekmans being the most unlikely of winners. Season 5 is great too but the one thing I didn't like was not having a limit on roadblocks per team members. Kim, Nicole and Christie only did one roadblock each while Chip, Brandon and Colin did all the rest. The bowling Mom's could have won if it wasn't for this. The very next season they instituted the rule that roadblocks must be evenly split between team members.
Sweet! An Amazing Race ranking video! I hope it gets more views bc I definitely feel as though this show has been drifting these past few years and I feel like it needs more love. Hopefully, the epicness that was s31 will help bring it back up a notch.

It's been years since I've last updated on the seasons and here's my verdict...
32 is going into *LOW-TIER* territory just because of the flat-out cheating and loopholes. Sans the Brazil leg, Michelle & Victoria, and Leo & Alana being standouts, it was a flat season with little to no replay value. Also, whose idea was it to have the musical memory task in Manila when NOLA and its jazz heritage was right there and instead we get "wrap a ball"?! A total L.
33, albeit a solid group of teams, had my hopes up. The shutdown really cost it to rise to its full potential. It's going in *MID TIER*. I love that production dealt with the changes and made it work to what was available and I'm grateful the teams got to reconvene. The editing boosted the adrenaline atmosphere between Switzerland and Greece, and a lot of tasks clicked for me. Best L.A. leg of the series by far and that's coming from someone who puts 17 on a pedestal.
34... did not age well. After Rich & Dom were eliminated, it became so predictable who had the winners' edit. You cannot tell me Derek & Claire explaining their strategy every effing leg is a coincidence. Not to mention, Luis pandering to the camera and Emily & Molly mentioning Emily's leg injury ad nauseum dragged and became a tired trope. The tasks and route were a mixed bag. Domme, France and both Italies made a fantastic leg, but a lot of other legs left more to be desired (Amman, Toulouse, Ronda, Malaga). Overall, it's a fairly *LOW TIER* season for me in retrospect. But the final memory task, one of the best I've seen.

I started watching at season 21, so I have more bias for the more recent season and my favorite season is 24. I find that every team is competitive straight from the start and my favorite team won. I loved how they gave certain teams who you weren’t sure why they should be there good development (mainly Caroline and Jennifer as someone who really enjoyed the seasons from close memory). I don’t judge a season what they do, but who the personalities are and mainly those aspects.
I just recently found out that Brendon and Rachel names their daughter “ Adora Borealis” and she is now about four years old

Dustin & Kandice are my all-time favorite team.
Season 12 was iconic! It literally got people's butts to sit and watch the show.

Season 25 & 26 had 4 teams racing in the final leg due to The Save because they have to determine non-elimination legs in advance. In S26 the Save was offered by completing both of the Detour options in Leg 3.
Season 4 is my favorite and you ranked it on the bottom :( I am biased as I am friends with one of the contestants, but I actually did enjoy the season. It is always fun to see what other people think of what used to be one of my favorite shows!!

Season 4 felt so bland tbh. It wasn’t bad and it wasn’t great. It was an alright season
I love these lists and completely agree with your number one choice. My only big differences are that I'd have seasons 12 and 23 a lot higher, and 21 a lot lower.
Season 12 had a ton of awesome tasks and moments specific to each racer that I still remember to this day - ditch pole vault and Donald's undies, biking over an Irish fjord, Ari & Staella stealing Ron & Christina's taxi and karma hitting them hard, Real truth flavor, the Burkina Faso dance competition, Baby there's no more milk!, Shana & Jennifer almost getting into a collision with a bus in Lithuania, the Croatian Detour involving rappelling and rowing, the Italian flag choreo, Kynt & Vyxsin's car breakdown, the poster-hanging in Mumbai, Nate & Jen's shoving incident, the flower-smelling Detour, the jeep stunt in Taiwan, Alaskan ice climbing, the final memory challenge. I'm surprised 12 isn't rank higher.

@@franzreyes6185 I loved the cast tbh. Everyone had their starring moments and everyone's edit had them appear uber competitively. Even the more mellow teams like Kate & Pat, Nic & Don, Lorena & Jason for the most part, and TK & Rachel were fun to watch for me because I remember specific actions and events they had throughout the season. And the more mainstreamed teams like Nate & Jen, Azaria & Hendekea, Shana & Jen, Ronald & Christina, Kynt & Vyxsin, and Ari & Staella resonated with me with their diverse characters. Everyone clicked.
Love your TAR ranking vids! I have an odd, actually ridiculous, idea for a ranking video for you to do because I would love to hear your commentary and assessment of this: rank the opening dashes for each season. This is just my own personal experience as a fan of this show but Phil starting the race is one of the most anticipated moments for me every season as it well, starts the race lol! Also it’s always really the only time all teams footrace together at the same time so it sort of sets the tone of the race (again, for me). I always look for how dramatic it is (S5 had racers falling down a lot), how humorous, how intense (S17 comes to mind here), even how boring (where they start from their homes in S28), and other criteria. Anyway, it was just a thought but again I love how you spell out every detail in your videos and would enjoy hearing you rank these.
Omg TAR5's had the most dangerous one. Jim had to get stitches before going to the airport. TAR15 was one of the best ones imo because of that starting line task (even though the starting line elim blows) and then continuing the sprint to the cars.

This is why opinions and ranking videos are interesting because I disagree with almost every single rankings lol. Now don't get me wrong, TheMeranianReview is entitled to his own opinions and he was in no way disrespectful of any of the seasons and I definitely do not count myself as well versed as he is since I have not watched all the seasons of The Amazing Race.
For me, when I watch The Amazing Race, I get emotionally attached to the racers so I would often take the time to go and see who were the winners of the season since they are clearly the ones who will be in the season the longest and if I see that they are backstabbing, ruthless racers who constantly argue with each other I am just like nope I am not watching this season cause I am not going to waste my time seeing you bicker with one another.
I understand TAR is a competition but in most competitions people are expected to compete fair and square and win based on their own capabilities while showing sportsmanship, which is why when racers do cutthroat things to ensure they win I instantly dislike them such as teams like Rob and Amber and Flo and Zach.
Doing it once in a while when you are at the back of the pack and not wanting to share information, I can understand when teams are desperate. But doing it always to get rid of the competition is just plain low.
I feel like youre shitting on the season 7 cast. Meredith and Gretchen , Brian and Greg and even Ray and Deana were great teams
#TAR10 should've been on the top 5...the drama, the legs, the Teams and the ending was so great from beggining to end!
10:29 I mean, the rivalry of Kelly and Christy vs Starr literally changed the rules of the game. It happened off camera in their hotel when one of Kelly or Christy thought that Starr stole her bra, causing that hilariously random and petty rivalry. Since it happened off camera, contestants are now sequestered during Pit Stops.
Also, the reason why a lot of super fans hate 14 is due to the no-so-subtle riggery in the latter half of the race, especially the fact that the 3 penultimate legs were in China, where only 1 team could fluently speak Mandarin, along with there being language tasks for Mandarin. That and they generally find the cast underwhelming, but a lot of people hate that part of the race.
For season 15, something the hardcores hate is how Dennis and Eirika were hella screwed over at the final leg where their poker dealer actually miscounted their deal, causing it so that Dennis and Eirika potentially got it right and screwed them over (Same reason why the St. Petersburg leg from Season 17 is considered one of the worst legs because of the music task having multiple errors going on with judging. They just lucked out that that leg was a non-elim anyways, so they just equalized everyone at the start of the next leg).
I wish they still showed Elimination Station. Those were goodies.

Good seasons all around in different eras. Top 5 is 2 classic seasons, 1 middle season, and 2 modern seasons. That why the Amazing Race is great.

I actually didn’t find season 4 to be all that bad, mainly because I liked the places that they visited and the challenges that they had to perform. But you’re right...there were much better seasons.
Respect for the love for TAR29 and TAR21. Agree with most of this list, except I think 9 should be way higher.
I just watched season 25 I wished Bethany and Adam won and I was thinking about watching season 21 now.

Season 4 is my personal favorite season (but definitely not my critical favorite) and I do enjoy The Season That Shan't Be Named (S8) if only for kudos for trying something different and because car fires are morbidly fun to watch and I prefer to watch it over most of the seasons 16-30.
My critical ranking of the best 10 seasons would be:
1. 7 - "We Have a Bad Elephant" is quite possibly the single greatest episode ever.
2. 5
3. 12
4. 3
5. 31 - Cast aside, there were moments of editing that reminded me of the show's golden days; a return to form, I hope.
6. 9
7. 14
8. 18
9. 21
10. 4/6 Tie - Love them or hate them, both seasons had... I'll call them entertaining villainous teams mixed with epic locations and challenges.
Honorable mentions also go out to TAR Asia S3 & TAR Australia S2.
Season 4 is my favorite as well - loved the drama with the contestants and loved the winners!
I love the first three on your list, but I highly disagree with the bottom 6/7. They are among my worst and most forgettable cast and route.

When I look at the group cast photos from other seasons I'm left barely even remembering who won them, much less who else ran, but at least with these seasons I can remember most of the teams and stuff that they did.
@@skiko15 I literally remember zero what happened on season 4 and 9 and I watched all of it. 😭 Even the locations I'm just drawing a huge blank. 6 had a nauseating final seven and a very bland set of tasks after Gus & Hera were out. 21 had the most ghetto route of any season and the editing started getting too chillaxed here. 14 and 18 are good, but definitely not top tier for me. 31's editing was terrible and at times cringey in the first half that it solidied it never reaching top tier for me. Not to mention the voting U-Turn jumped the shark. It was unneeded on the Race.
Lucy and Emilia are literal queens. I need them in an international season battle, 'cause their record of being the luckiest and statistically worst 5th placers is so fun. They're so hilarious.

A family member of mine was college roommates with Chris from Season 2.
My 4 favorite seasons are #1 & the 3 seasons that had the cowboys... They are by far my favorite team on this show... They have class & are a good team. I think they were on seasons 16, 18 & 22 if im not mistaken

I'm surprised season 24 is even THAT high on your list. The lazy, sometimes childish, and dragged-out route for that season automatically makes it THE worst season by far, not to mention how bored and ticked off I was watching half of these undeserving all-star teams race that season. Even season 8's children racers weren't babied on the race like theirs was. Literally, some of the tasks in 24 reminded me of a kid's birthday party or a state fair. It was that bad.
I wish I could thumbs this up 100 times. Season 24 was a joke from that pointless backflip Roadblock all the way up to that un-suspenseful Las Vegas finale. Even the dating season where for some reason they felt the need to show us how teams partied in Thailand on the broadcast (why?) was better than that mess and that's not a compliment to either.
The only episodes of season 24 I can handle are the first two honestly. And maybe the last 10 minutes of the finale
@@scotthasanosebleed I can't even handle that first episode or that "final task" - whatever that bullish was. Childish and pointless tasks absolutely ruined this season. Leg four was probably the most average episode with that nightclub Detour, but the DJing task was so basic and not even challenging compared to that flair bartending one.
The "All Stars" title is very misleading lol. Terrible cast with horrible linear legs. Worst season by far

Season 5, 6 and 7 are the best for me.
@Wadsy season 6 was great from competitions/legs and the spirit of the teams and it was entertaining but the constant whining and yelling by a lot of cast members were really annoying and nerve wrecking. Jonathan, Hayden, Kendra, Adam, Rebecca, Lori, Bolo)

The seasons with Jet & Cord are some of the best because they were so good at the challenges... No teams b4 them or after them dominated challenges like they did... They could come to a challenge as the last place team & leave as the first place team & I always respected how they would hustle while the other teams are being lazy & whiny.
Agree to that too that's why i like season 16 and 18. I think they should've won at least 1 of the seasons since they joined thrice.

@Michael Kontos I'm glad someone here loves season 17. That was the show's peak, period. I have a love-hate thing with 31. The editing in the beginning and the tasks during the Asia legs were disappointing and overhyped. I thought the immediate Pit Stop route infos were a nice subtle twist, but the ones involving stationary tasks phased out the adrenaline-pumping foot races I've loved since the show's roots. It's why I put 30 in high tier and not top tier - could've easily shifted up if it wasn't for those Head to Heads. I am still shaking my head at the open forum U-Turn on the most boring leg of the season. Stop trying to copy aspects of Survivor. It's dumb to have a Tribal Council on the Race. The Detroit finale was lacking some umph, but I'm unable to pinpoint exactly.
@Michael Kontos For me, 12 was awesome to watch! The travel that season I'm still so captivated by because it featured a dynamic range of task stylings, locations, and so many memorable moments from all the teams from TK & Rachel down to Ari & Staella. It didn't feel slowed down like the seasons now and rode off the successful editing that original All-Stars had. You could bring up an episode from that season and I could list a memorable moment from each team. It was THAT good. I loved 13 simply because of its original travel route and the striking range of teams that season besides Anthony & Stephanie and Terence & Sarah. So many awesome tasks that made the season so fun to watch as well! I didn't enjoy the Kazakhstani leg though, especially the task where teams had to find a gold egg in a chicken slaughterhouse and the begging for money Detour. I would've been glad to have traded something boring than see those.
@Michael Kontos The London leg for 31 was my favorite leg. I disliked the Pit Stop task though. Probably the most original and integrated out of the 12. The cast was meh to me. I've always liked Charla & Mirna and their side of the race so seeing Colin & Christie was so not my style. Highly disliked Art & JJ. Didn't care for the Afghanimals. Hated seeing Rachel again on my screen. Didn't care for the Survivor players. I don't know how it was possible the new editors could make Janelle & Britney so boring to watch. That's like a talent in itself. I was at one point just rooting for Nicole & Victor simply because they weren't afraid to get their hands dirty at the airport like in the older TAR days.
@Michael Kontos Gotcha, I see where you're coming from. I really love all the teams that season. Marianna & Julia had iconic moments (Marianna shoving her hand up their donkey's butt to move it, Naked? comment at Nicolas, them overhearing Ron & Christina's argument at the bus, them having to bear with Lorena's milk drought meltdown). Kate & Pat really surprised me. They were the controversial team when the show was about to premiere because of their LGBTQ position. I loved how supportive they were of each other and their dynamics reminded me so much of Peggy & Claire from season 2. Shana & Jennifer pleasantly surprised me when I originally thought they were just there for clout and I think we have the same opinion for that. The goths were my ultimate favorites though. For me, the editing was the thing that brought the entire season to life. Part of the Race spirit is the travel and not tasks, and that's why I haven't been liking the more recent seasons since the focus shifted to the destination/task buildup and not the adrenaline-pumping journey. It's why the earlier and mid-contemporary seasons were so great to watch for me, especially in between All-Stars and season 20. What you forgot that you can't get from vague Wikipedia is that in the first Burkina Faso leg it was raining hard by the time the middle-of-the-pack teams were frantically going to the Pit Stop which made the episode a lot more hectic, especially when they were racing with the camels. Leg 4 brought it to another level with the local stick dance contest and teams interacting and forgetting their chickens. I loved the Lithuanian and Croatian legs because so much stuff was happening in between places (Shana & Jen almost getting ran over by a bus, Ron almost injuring himself again with the stilts, Azaria & Hendekea's demise getting first class tickets, Nate & Jen's gender norms and You can't take us because we're wet argument, etc.). But the finale leg is the episode that made it a legendary season with the creative Roadblock that capped the story of the season, the teamwork that Ron & Christina exhibited at the end and the very close foot race, ice climbing, and the unassuming sights of local Anchorage. I really really enjoyed this breath of air and how it ended was phenomenal.
Season 5 made me a man cry multiple times
13 has probably the most impact of any season ever - it led to teams being sequestered at 99% of rest periods since.
Arguably with the most forgettable cast imo. Dan & Andrew and Kelly & Christy's suffering saved that season.
@@francesca-selfproclaimed-bleep Nah, 13 had Tina upgrading the plane, Toni & Dallas' passport incident and Phil's dad lusting over Marisa & Brooke. 22 or 23 would be my pick for least memorable casts.
@@RTVWarriors I didn't even remember Marisa and Brooke. They were so dull. I forgot where Tina upgraded the plane though so that still doesn't count as memorable. The route was so creative though and that's why I still give it more respect than a lot of other HD seasons. I never expected a South America - Oceania - Asia - Russia trip.

I liked season 13 tbf. It's not that bad i will rank this season just outside of top 10
I have watched every season of the amazing race... And it blows my mind that people can remember details like this. I have a good memory.. But I couldn't tell you anything I remember other than that one dude who yelled at his wife Victoria. What season was that?? Any.. Great show

I disagree about season 23. Chester and Ephram getting to Lisbon at night, Nicole struggling to build an instrument plus Brandon and Adam going from first to last were all iconic
Marie mothered in that robot Roadblock in Tokyo as well. Beating the teams who were helping each other was a boss move. That was so embarrassing for Amy and Nicole. 💀
The worst thing about Season 8 was that it was originally going to be the first All-Star season. I don't know why they changed it up.
Unpopular opinion: Season 8 is one of my favorites of all time. I really enjoyed the Americana route and it made me realize that some of the least expecting US states still had great and cool things to offer despite how mundane the media makes them seem. Plus, Panama, Costa Rica, and Canada are gorgeous! I'm still thrilled they got to cover more area with this season and I will never forget what impact it had on me.

@@gnalagans3754 Even then, I wish The Ridonculous Race got a second season and added more features from TAR that wasn't shown from The Ridonculous Race. For example, Don will gave out prizes for the winners in each leg.

Wow Season 26 is my top 5 season because it's funny and chaotic but it's very low on this ranking. I just don't understand why this season is so underrated.

Pretty decent ranking, but 21 is way too high. The beginning legs were absolutely horrible. Season 5 however is probably my favorite season of RTV just in general. Everything was basically flawless.
A.J Deets the beginning was dry but it has probably has the strangest leg with the 8th. I personally love it but that might be because it was my first season.

@@e1ectricman TAR 24 is Bad Because Despite The Title "All-Stars" Very Few Were meant to be there (Like Jennifer & Caroline And The Three Timers), The Route Was TERRIBLE! And The Challenges Were Just Lame. And While I Don't Hate Dave & Connor's Win, Some People Do. Plus very few legs are actually fun and some boots like Margie & Luke's Elimination are really predictable. While The Premiere And The Last 15 minutes Of the Finale is fun, the rest is so boring. What Makes You Not Like TAR 24? Can you please explain?
12 is just ok. I like 8 personally because of the little kids due to them growing up. The kids were the gaghans the best team and the black family. I won’t make a comment about the black family because they went out too early. Wish them the best. 12 had some kind calm teams and some loud teams.
Season 10 @ 11 are the best because of KANDICE AND DUSTINE
I was so sad/disappointed when ari and staella got eliminated because I was so excited when I saw their intro and they were doing good for the first half of the first leg

High key one of the quickest and most entertaining flameouts in Race history. I've never before witnessed a team go from giant threats (stealing Ron & Christina's taxi, the Romber edit) to total blunders (even Nate & Jen's dysfunction managed to keep them at bay i- 💀) in under 30 minutes.

Just finished watching it for the first time. I went into it expecting it to be really good, as I’d heard very mixed reviews about it, but sadly it just did not live up to those expectations. I had a little bit of prior knowledge about Johnathan and Victoria from various TAR sources, as well as their infamous appearance on Fear Factor, but oh my god it was so much worse than expected. For me I hate this season because I pretty much despise the majority of the cast. Johnathan and Victoria are UNBEARABLE. I’m usually pretty fond of a good dysfunctional team now and then, as it makes for good TV...but Johnathan and Victoria were one of the few exceptions where they were just so awful that even I DESPISED them. Adam and Rebecca were also awful as Adam was one of THE most ANNOYING players to ever play in my opinion. Freddy and Kendra winning was just horrible, especially after the incredibly insensitive comments Kendra made in Senegal. Tbh they’re probably one of my least favorite winners in the whole series. Pretty much the only teams I liked were Lori and Bolo (they were great TV I must admit, i ended up liking them way more than expected) and Kris and Jon (very likeable, but still pretty boring). Even the route was pretty lame. There were a few cool legs, like Iceland and Ethiopia, but for the most part I hated the route. They just spent wayyyy too much time in Europe for my liking. Yea, I could go on all day about this season, and I agree with you, I don’t see myself rewatching that one any time soon.

Nat & Kat are underrated! I still remember them taking on that goat head Fast Forward despite Kat saying she is a vegetarian and Chad's one-sided feud with them after the Double U-Turn in Bangladesh. Truly one of the greats of the series.

In all honesty, as much as I like Jet and Cord, season 16 was definitely less good, less interesting, and even more underwhelming than season 26. Season 26 also had better locations to offer.
I thought season 16 was fun to watch, definitely not the best among its adrenaline-rush season peers, but the route kinda snapped and would rewatch it just for the locations and route again (Seychelles; Valaparaiso, Chile, and the Champagne Valley in France; Penang, Malaysia, my Bay Area neighbor San Francisco). Also Jody & Shannon were so robbed from that disrespetful cow.

It always felt weird because their recaps that were posted with London and her sister were really fun, but we basically never saw her and Logan do much.
Ellen McClain London was so cute and a joy to watch. I didn’t find them boring at all.

Really disliked amazing race 29 for some reason. Never bought the concept and I hope they dont do it again
The casting felt like a cheap stunt that rode off the awkwardness and bad taste of Mark & Mallory, and the choppy and too-relaxed editing made it fall flat on its ass imo. The race route was the only redeeming factor (Tanzania/Zanzibar, Chicago, Vietnam, Italy and Norway held some of the best series of routes I had seen in a few seasons).
Season 4 isn't as bad as I use to think imo. The beginning stretch is slug fest with 5 straight legs in Europe but it gets better location wise with South Korea and Australia. It's a breath of fresh air. I love Europe but it was overdone here.
R&C got better towards the end, but their behavior earlier in the season was terrible.
I see where you’re coming from, but I still just can’t get myself to like this season. I really liked R&C as winners tbh, but the rest of the cast was pretty bad. Kelly and Jon I found to be quite awful, David and Jeff are some of the most bland and forgettable characters ever. Chuck and Millie are sweet but REALLY bland. And the while I do agree that South Korea was a great leg, the amount of time in Europe really just hurts this season. Though I will admit, after watching TAR 6, it may at least be better than that disaster.

@@vidhead85 And TAR5 ate! One of my all-time favorite seasons. Underrated memory -- I wasn't expecting Alison from BB4 to show up, but I'm glad she and her now-ex Donny did. The original reality crossover team and them crashing and burning so quickly made me so happy since they were so toxic to each other especially while they had adorable puppies to walk on hand.
Season 25. The last season I watched because I absolutely hated that twist where the final four raced the final leg as it screwed out Robbie & Brooke.

I don't get why people are ranking season 16 so low either, but at the same time I kind of get it? For me, it's a middle-tier cycle. Fun to watch season since there's memorable nuances from a lot of teams. I LOVED the locations and a lot of the themed tasks, especially the two well-planned themed legs in France (WWI and Champagne region). Shanghai did underwhelm me a bit, but I did enjoy the adrenaline and tasks.
