Awsome info guys. Thanks. I brought my boat to you recently for annual maintenance and the service was amazing. The technicians and service rep were knowledge and friendly.
I'm sorry guys but this one I don't believe is fair enough to the gt54. Leads me to believe you guys always have to say new products are better. If not I know you guys wouldn't sell new products. This was not a fair comparison. Not even your opinions match what I'm seeing.
Great video guys, I normally don’t run more than 60’ out at 1170 kHz. With a 93sv the detail between 455 kHz and 1170 kHz isn’t much. On my 106sv it does make a difference for sure.
Awesome video and very thorough. My boat was delivered equipped with Garmin 8610XSV and an Airmar B60 thru hull. A few have told me to add the GT56 to the setup. Your video alleviated any doubts about doing so!!!
The $700 93sv+gt54 deal is too good to pass up. I also don't use side imaging, but I definitely want to learn after seeing this. Thanks for all the videos, I bought through you guys
use of the various features of these Sonars are relative to the waters that you fish.....on my waters, the main deep water cover are stone walls, that were boundary lines when they flooded the old farm lands to create the impoundments. Side imaging enables you to stay right on these stone walls , especially, the ones that do not run to shore, but are parallel......
Thank you for the video. May I ask if the GT56 is worth an upgrade on the 93sv? The reason I ask is the resolution of that screen isn't as high as the Ultra. So can the difference be seen on the lower resolution screen? Cheers
What about the image quality in water less than 15’. What I saw in the video it looks like you guys don’t get shallower than 17’. Would the quality and definition be as good 5’-15’?
I currently have a GT54 mounted on my trolling motor. I do plan to upgrade to a GT56. Will it mount on the trolling motor as the GT54 did? Will the 56 connectors be the same as the 54 to connect to my 93SV? Thank you for your help.
say you want to sell a gt56 transducer without telling me. that is the most poorly setup gt54 ive ever seen. doesnt even show the bottom at all. they are far closer to the same than this shows.
I have to agree Mr Vaughn. I haven’t done this kind of side by side comparison but I have both of these units on separate boats and both the 54 and 56 have a 74sv UHD2 at the helm. Based on what I see W/O doing a side by side is that it’s not worth the three extra bills to buy the 56. I don’t know if they bundle the 94s with a choice of either the 54 or 56 but I do know the 74’s are always bundled with the GT54 and never the GT56. I wish I knew why a 74 wouldn’t benefit from the 56. Are all the 7, 9 and 11 ECHO2 the same except for size?
I have the 7” Garmin 73sv Plus and the Garmin Rep in Oregon said I should stay with the GT54 after I had requested buying extra parts to assist me in moving my 7” screen from my pontoon boat to a Crestliner fishing boat. I wanted to be able to move my 7” screen back & forth from each boat.
Intersted to know more about this unit so to buy one very soon... Is the transducer included in the price ..? What is the Watt power of the transducers ? What is the max depth this unit is able to reach ? What depth do the side view reach ? What years is this model ? Do you send this product out of te US ? Waiting for you sincer and soon answer ?
I’ve been wanting a fish finder for a long time getting back into fishing now as my nest is becoming more empty but still can’t afford $1200 for a unit was kinda wanting the garmin 93sv with the GT54 for now then maybe later on upgrade to the 56 but I was wanting to spend around $500 I know that unit is $699 any suggestions on a unit for $500ish mainly a shallow water fisherman less than 20ft mostly? Great video
Thanks for a very good comparison of transducers. I am one of those you mentioned that bought the Garmin 106SV on Black Friday. Wanted the GT56 and settled for the GT54 bundle at a great price. Now the Side Imaging is the only Garmin screen that doesn't exceed my Humminbird Mega SI gen2 10". My next purchase this Fall will be the Garmin LiveScope Plus with gunnel rod control install. Will the LiveScope tranducer make up for the lack of Side Imaging clarity on the GT54?
be as blunt as you can be. i bought the 106sv ultra/gt54 package for my new boat. will it be ok enough to hunt down some fish for fun? its going on a party barge and the secondary use of the boat is to fish. main focus is relaxation time. ive never had a boat before so all of it is new to me. like, will it do me well for a year or 2? ill be rigging up a pole system to have a livescope off the front of the boat over the winter.
I know this is a dumb question but I’m trying to learn. I have the 93sv at my console with the 54 transducer and I really like it but is there a way to have the same view at the bow? Like what all do I need to have another screen up front that shows that that transducer is showing on side and down (also do I need to put another transducer on the trolling motor, I know I need the front facing transducer for livescope? Also if I get the livescope do I need another unit to see the front facing. Basically, do I need 3 screens? One at the console that shows side and down imaging, one at the front for the same side and down and then another screen die front facing livescope??? Also I know there is a box involved, so is that where I can connect everything and run to each screen?
I really like these vids u guy been doing recently. Gt56 way better it's pushing more power out as well too right? Wish u guys do direct comparison of gt56 & mega + on solix!!!
Great video. Thanks for posting. I'm mainly a saltwater fisherman fishing in 50-100 feet of water. How do you think the GT56 performs at those depths? I'm currently using a GT51 on Garmin 7612 and the side imaging isn't that great (unless I'm doing something wrong because this is the first Garmin unit I owned). The chirp sonar works great but I would like to use my side imaging to locate wrecks, rocks and other structure.
I have an older Echomap Plus 93sv with a GT52. Could I put a 54 or 56 on this unit and see an improvement? It's a 12 pin so that hasn't changed from the newer UHD units and from what I've read, the head units are still the same spec.
BPS has their 106 Garmin with the gt54 'Ducer on sale for $999, but their 93Uuhd with the gt56 'Ducer is only $799. I'm in a 'quandary" right now, as I want the gt56 on a 106 Garmin, but can't see paying THAT much difference. I also want to put a 106 with live scope beside it (I have room on my 'Yak, so why not use it...?) as the one with live scope is only $2,099 this Black Friday Sale (plus, I'm hoping to get a Veteran Discount, too!).That'll be around $3,100 for both 106's, plus the cost of the gt56. That's about half as much as I already have in the 'Yak...Just for electronics ! ! ! Haha! Guess I'll go that route, and Thanks guys...
Thanks for the video. I'm looking to upgrade my sidescan capability from Lowrance Elite FS9. Which Garmin plotter (along with gt56 I assume) would be absolute best side image and how would that compare to Humminbird's best unit? Thanks
Dave I’m considering the same. I got an 8616 for LS and have two 1222’s. My Allison came with a lowrance. I’m used to helix stuff and was considering moving a helix to the Allison, until I realized the mapping on my 8600. I think I’m gonna put a gt 56 I believe so j can link these units
with the rule of 3's if you are in 25' of water, you should set your side imaging range out to roughly 75', 10' feet of water, set your range to 30' out.
Is there any difference with the ECHOMAP UHD 93sv display hardware on the model packaged with the GT54 UHD transducer (currently on sale for ~$700 most places), versus the latest and greatest model shown on the Garmin website packaged with the GT56 UHD transducer? The reason I ask is that I don’t care as much about the transducer side imaging performance for open water use, but I don’t want to miss out on any display hardware improvements when I add a LiveScope Plus LVS34 transducer for ice fishing use. Also, I typically fish in less than 40 feet of water during open water use, so I’m guessing that the traditional sonar performance differences between the two transducers (GT54 UHD & GT56 UHD) is not too significant. Is that true?
I'll say it probably will... but what's the point? Won't be using side imaging on the trolling motor anyways and the gt54 is pretty solid for down imaging!!
It's honestly surprising how bad the 54 is. I have humminbird side imaging on a gen 3 helix 7 and it looks better than the 54, but not as good as the 56. I'm getting ready to get some sort of forward facing sonar. I'm finding out why guys run multiple brands. Humminbirds value for side imaging is so good, and garmin has the forward facing sonar in spades.
It's a good video but instead of focusing on the rocks...it looks like you can see a difference in the amount of fish as well. About 15 feet south of the grate on the left side you see small specs and brush on the 56....but see small specs instead on the 54. That could be a game changer for someone that has another $700 to spend on the 56. I'd like to see the differences of the three views...SI vs DI and vivid color charts.
Show the comparison with a 93sv live on the water and see if you'd still recommend the upgrade. The GT56 is better than the GT54 but.... it still comes up short when compared to a Humminbird Solix mega+ SI image.
I know this is late but These guys are plumb dumb with sonar.. who In the actual f uses a green color palate Same with their scope vidoes.. the lvs32/34 and at/at2... their trashcan salesmen.
I sold my bird and went with garmin that came with a 54 , I got rid of the garmin and bought 3 birds, I’m much happier with the Birds, so garmin lost a customer by putting that cheap 54 on the market, they should have just sold the 56 in the first place.
Awsome info guys. Thanks. I brought my boat to you recently for annual maintenance and the service was amazing. The technicians and service rep were knowledge and friendly.
Thank you for the Business Mike!! Let us know if we can help you in the future!!

Awesome video! Love the side imaging comparison!
Could you turn the gain up on the 54 and get more definition?
I'm wondering the same. It looks like the gain is turned up higher on the 56.
Russell Marine Products have done upgrades in my boat. Can't say enough about there staff from sales to technicians. Thanks again guys. ✌️😎
Thank you for the business sir!! We truly appreciate it!!
You guys are just trying to get play.
The 54 transducer images arent right.
Was that 54 setup correctly? I was getting ready to buy. 106sv with 54 and now I’m rethinking it because those 54 images are absolute garbage
Something isnt right with your 54 to be fair. No bottom?
Agree! The most terrible 54 ive seen
Also agree
Same here
The 54 images are far from 'good'
Are these guys trying to sell the product 😮

I know this question is not on subject, how would these images compare to the Lowrance Elite Ti 1?
Does the 56 pull substantially more current draw?
I purchased a 1243xsv Garman Sonora package. I fish under 100 foot of water(salt) which transducer would best suit me, the GT51 or the GT56?
Thanks for the video. I am think changing to the 56
be as blunt as you can be. i bought the 106sv ultra/gt54 package for my new boat. will it be ok enough to hunt down some fish for fun? its going on a party barge and the secondary use of the boat is to fish. main focus is relaxation time. ive never had a boat before so all of it is new to me. like, will it do me well for a year or 2? ill be rigging up a pole system to have a livescope off the front of the boat over the winter.
Absolutely!! The 106 is one hell of a unit even with the gt54! You can always upgrade transducers later to the gt56 if you wish
Straight out if the box everything on full auto my gt 54 shows the gt 56 image or even better. Something’s not ok here
Now would this be the same for a 73sv?
another great video comparison.
Would like to see the down image comparison pls
Thanks for that great comparison. What player do you use for the animated waterfall view?
These guys don’t answer questions 😂
Great video!
You must have really had to finetune that gt54 to make it look that bad. You boys must be making a profit off gt56 sales.
I know this is a dumb question but I’m trying to learn. I have the 93sv at my console with the 54 transducer and I really like it but is there a way to have the same view at the bow? that it correct the 56 is pushing out with more power. We will have a side by side comparison with all 3 brands comparing side imaging soon!
Do it soon plz fixing to buy one lol

Yes it does!
