In reply to the ladies on the program who think that the passage and the piaffe with a very arched neck are not natural movements of the horse, they are indeed natural movements, and anyone who doesn't think so has never sat a stud horse too near a pretty mare!😄 It is true that these movements are not naturally done on command, but they are definitely natural movements.
Laws need to be made and Enforced now for any kind of abuse to horses. Heftyf fines and jail time now!! It's long past time for real consequences to be enforced!
Don't ban the sports, but it seriously needs to change. And that change starts with all of us equestrians to make the sport a better place, especially for the horses. Horses are our partners and not machines.
It's not possible to change people who think they are entitled to inflict harm on animals and call it training because they get fast results from it. The only change we can hope for is for those who witness it to have the courage to speak out against them.
Green shirt knows absolutely nothing about horses, or natural gaits. Dresage is actually showcasing the horses natural gaits , and partnerships between rider and hhorse. Communication. Via seat, leg, hands. The horses are not "trained" or "forced " to do something unnatural. Drsssage is natural gaits.
In High-Level FEI Dressage, this Cruel, Abusive behaviour is Very Common in Numerous Top Dressage Stables. (Perhaps in the lower levels, it is not pertained). But at the high-levels where the sport is monetary and people’s minds are convoluted with the Competition Results - infliction and harm, and beating a horse into submission is Very Common.
Charlotte Dujardin is cruel and out of date with her ongoing abusive methods. She should be stripped of all 3 Gold medals. She is not an outstanding example of an Olympian!!!
I wonder how much she abused her other horses to perform at such a high standard. Abusers are not one time action...they usually have a history of it. There are many methods to get a horse to perform at a high level without whipping them. She should check out a real horseman called Carson James. He knows horses...she should take his clinic!!!! I hope her career is ended and no horse has to be subjected to her lack of humanity. No amount of gold medals makes her behavior better and for God's sake she did not do this only once. What a joke if people think that. Shame on her.
Not constantly, 6 times in a flat race, 7 in a jump race harsh penalties for misuse, jockeys get banned for a number of days if they over step the mark which equates to no wages, also they use padded whips unlike the dressage riders
This is absolutely horrible....I thought she was better than this. I thought she was a more professional person. She needs to never own or train another horse. She needs to be banned from all things horses and animals.
The horse did not misbehave even when being abused. Charlotte beats without getting even upset. Icecold. She should be banned forever. For the sake of the horses and the reputation of the sport.
Judi was so right at the end. As long as all these animals are under our control, it's still for our own seflishness, as humans. Our own satisfaction. We can at least acknowledge that truth about animal ownership.
I mean... this is really the LEAST of her offences here. The act of riding horses AT ALL injures them, particularly when they're younger than five years old. But no matter how old the horse and how careful the rider, riding damages the skeleton, spinal nerves, and skin of the horse. Given that we only ride for the sake of pleasure in contemporary settings, hurting horses in this way is clearly unethical. Further, while breeding these individuals to create new horses and confining the foals might well create a desire on their part to be active, providing them with activity doesn't justify breeding them for our pleasure and placing them in confinement. Horses also do not enjoy being "broken" for the sake of riding, especially when this process includes the use of bits, whips, and other such items. In fact, the need for pain-inducing devices should be a clear indication that the horse does not care to do the rider's bidding. From an ethical perspective, it is wrong to whip a dog or a child for the sake of training, especially when the victim does not benefit from the activity in any way. It is also wrong to burden dogs and children with substantial extra weight for the sake of exercise. The same is true of horses. It is wrong to whip them for training, and it is wrong to burden them with the weight of a human rider.
Yeah i get what you are saying. But would you have thought of it as cruel in the days ppl needed to ride. Before cars, where maybe a doctor has to ride fast. Is it always unethical to ride a horse.
Indeed, we did many cringy things in days of yore,@@EvidentlyFire. However, in a contemporary setting, abusing horses by riding them is only done for the sake of entertainment and personal pleasure.
@@EvidentlyFire No, it's not always unethical to ride a horse and doesn't have to be. If they are treated like athletes and conditioned appropriately, in my experience horses enjoy their work as much as people do. It's when shortcuts are applied that it becomes a problem. The other problem is the judging that awards the points and prizes for the performance. There's clearly a lot to be fixed.
Criminal charges need to be pressed. An example has to be set. Look at Tennessee Walking Horses and Big Lick as an example of what is hidden behind the scenes!!!

Much of what we see in competitive dressage is like you say, a circus, but it's not actually what dressage originally was intended for, and it's arguably not even dressage.
I am shocked and horrified by this video and this awful woman - not only for what she did, but also for calling it an “error of judgment” which is clear demonstration of her cynicism. And yes, to make the vile deed even worse, it is accompanied by laughter. I can only agree that she should be stripped of everything she has ever been awarded and banned for life from competing. I don’t know whether it is possible to ban someone from owning animals, but even that would be far too little. Unfortunately, I fear that this is merely the tip of a revolving iceberg.
In reply to the ladies on the program who think that the passage and the piaffe with a very arched neck are not natural movements of the horse, they are indeed natural movements, and anyone who doesn't think so has never sat a stud horse too near a pretty mare!😄
It is true that these movements are not naturally done on command, but they are definitely natural movements.
Laws need to be made and Enforced now for any kind of abuse to horses. Heftyf fines and jail time now!! It's long past time for real consequences to be enforced!
banned for life
Just showing her true self ,God knows how long this poor horse has been treated like this, ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING !
She's probably been doing this for some time naive to think 🤔 its a one off.
Laughing. Thats despicable. The rider of that horse doesn't seem concerned either. It's sad. Ego has taken over.
That poor innocent sentient being- i am disgusted
In High-Level FEI Dressage, this Cruel, Abusive behaviour is Very Common in Numerous Top Dressage Stables.
(Perhaps in the lower levels, it is not pertained). But at the high-levels where the sport is monetary and people’s minds are convoluted with the Competition Results - infliction and harm, and beating a horse into submission is Very Common.
She looked so comfortable to whip a horse, this wasn't a first time thing. She's only ashamed because she got caught.
Charlotte Dujardin is cruel and out of date with her ongoing abusive methods. She should be stripped of all 3 Gold medals. She is not an outstanding example of an Olympian!!!
Someone laughing in the background?
I wonder how much she abused her other horses to perform at such a high standard. Abusers are not one time action...they usually have a history of it. There are many methods to get a horse to perform at a high level without whipping them. She should check out a real horseman called Carson James. He knows horses...she should take his clinic!!!! I hope her career is ended and no horse has to be subjected to her lack of humanity. No amount of gold medals makes her behavior better and for God's sake she did not do this only once. What a joke if people think that. Shame on her.
This is what goes on behind closed doors.....
Well said.
Her career is over. GOOD.
Have you ever watched horse racing. Jockeys constantly use the whip the horses. Whips need to be banned
Yeah, loved by their trainers as long as they are performing as trained. As soon as they’re no longer good they become pet food. Ugh!
Criminal charges need to be pressed. An example has to be set. Look at Tennessee Walking Horses and Big Lick as an example of what is hidden behind the scenes!!!
This is all the fault of show judges in all sports who allow extremes to be practiced for prizes.
I went to a horse show and was appalled at how many times they use the whip. I even voiced my concerns but just got a you dont know what you're talking about stare.. a jockey gets suspended for over using the whip its time the same rule applied to gthis sport to ....
Just imagine if she wasn't caught, would she have said anything?
Charlotte Dujardin
Frankly, you should be ashamed.Cruetly to animals in any form is disgusting. Shameful.
Clearly the olympics should review this sport - and ban the sport. Forcing a horse in that way is vile.
All medals should be removed from her and banned for life
Dressage must be banned, it's so cruel and unnatural
that is also dangerous to the rider
I have ridden dressage and trained for over 20 years. Dressage is all about working with your horse as a harmonious team. Banning equestrian sports will be devastating to horses all over the world as horses are very expensive to keep and if there's no sports to bring money in, horses will be slaughtered in mass.
I think holding people accountable for their actions is really the route we need to take.
She is a cruel cruel trainer- you should never teach by fear!! Shame shame on her. It’s always so easy to pick on the weak, shy , unresponsive simply because they are kind and don’t fight back!
