Part 1: Simple unbuffered mixer
Difficulty: Easy
Price: ~8-9$
MiaW playlist: • Modular In A Week (MIAW)
In this video we build our first mixer for our modular. It is a simple unbuffered mixer, but with the added bonus of an inverted output, which is especially useful and fun when mixing CV-signals. You can find all the links to schematics, panels, BOM and parts below. Enjoy!

Here is a better schematics with less gain I messed up some resistor values, actually just change the 1k resistor between the opamps for way less gain (1:1 instead of 10:1) or use the new schematics here: www.dropbox.co...

Great module! I've been looking to build a CV mixer and checked out a bunch of different circuits. Found this one and decided straight away to build it. Ticks all the boxes for me. All components that I had in the drawer and does exactly what I need for my current set up. I made one small addition. I built this with a quad op amp and used the extra op amp stages as buffered multiples to make copies of the output signal so I've got four in four out with one of the outputs being inverted.
Love it!
love the videos! I'm rather new to DIY and I 'm trying to build this mixer, but I want to include mute switches right after each input and leave out the pot' meters. What would a schematic like that look like? Does any of your other videos explain this?
Maybe it's late, but you can add switches in gap between input jacks and pots
Sorry for missing this. But you can just replace the pot with a switch. Or you can look at a later episode where I do a voltage controlled switch using a 4066 to switch the signal. That one can be used with a switch OR cv to open close the switch.
solid
Hey Kristian, nice Video,... i want to build this for a schoolproject... fron where do i get the cv signals,... is it possible to send them per smartphone with an auxcable?
Yes this mixer can mix any signals. So you could mix two smart phones and do some DJ-ing. 😉
Okay perfect, thanks a lot :) !
nice build man. Btw the schematic link is down😨. Can you reupload the file again? It would be helpful 😃
Sorry about that. I’ll fix it ASAP. Here is the new link: www.dropbox.com/s/h76rwa19tcx0sbt/Schematic_Simple-Passive-Mixer.pdf?dl=0
Thanks for pointing it out. 👍
how do you make your front panels?
I get them laser cut/etched by a friend. It’s a flimsy name tag material called lasermax. With some reinforcement on the backside it works ok.
Kristian i need a 8 channel mixer for my drums can i do the same with 8 channels, nothing has to be changed? thks!!
Correct. Just add as many inputs as you need.
Do you think one could add another input at every input simply summing them together or just put something really small like 220R between them and then the 10K series bla bla bla?? Liike Passive-active but not truly...
Yes. Just a small resistor would probably work. Find a resistor that suits the output you want.
