If you watch enough Band Maid you’ll catch her beautiful smile, just as heart-warming as her band mate, Akane’s smile. Put the GREATEST bassist together with one of the GREATEST rock guitarists and one of the GREATEST rock drummers (the GREATEST in my ‘humble’ opinion) and how can you go wrong? Then put one of the GREATEST female rock vocalists of all time and lyricist who puts words together like no other and what do you have? The GREATEST rock band ever…..BAND MAID!! MISA's preferred whisky is Jim Beam. Although she has switched to Jack Daniels and Jägermeister while on tour if she is unable to get Jim Beam. And MISA almost NEVER drops a pick. She will toss one into the audience if she needs to, but normally she only does that after playing a difficult section. In several interviews she has stated that she normally only uses 2 picks per performance. She has a way of tucking the pick between her index finger and palm while slapping or playing fingerstyle, then flipping the pick back into her hand normally. In the Live video for Onset, you can see her doing the flip easiest. And part of the reason that Band-Maid is so bass forward is is that when the band first started Miku couldn't play guitar. So she was asked to fill in areas where Miku's guitar should have been. This has continued, even though Miku has become a very skilled rhythm guitarist, the bass forward sound has become a major part of the Band-Maid sound. But if you listen, when MISA goes wandering her fretboard, Miku will usually drop back and tie into Akane's kit where the bass would normally be. However, with the more detailed writing Kanami has done, it's more like their more current songs, Miku and MISA will trade parts of the bass line.
Great reaction. In an interview, MISA said she has never dropped a pick during a concert. Also, she holds the pick all the time and switches between pick and slap when needed by tucking the pick into her index finger, there's a video of her during an interview with a radio person where she demonstrates that. Janae, Did you know that "Manners" is one of MISA's favorite Band-Maid songs also? Yes, she is very shy, but she does look mysterious. Most assassins are stealthy until they slay you, like she does with her bass. Performing barefooted paired with her quiet nature and love of an all-black outfit gives all her fans the reason to call her the "Barefoot Assassin". When concert venues allow the fans to find a place on the floor and on the rail in front of the stage, the mad rushes are to MISA's side and Kanami's side. Yes, everyone still loves Miku and Saiki, but due to MISA and Kanami's technical prowess, guitarists and other musicians want to see their mastery in person.
Having been within six feet or so of MISA at a show, I must say that she is really beautiful in person; stunning in fact. She’s also quite tall, about 5’7”. MISA doesn’t drop picks when playing. MISA is also my favorite member, very closely followed by Akane. I have to admit though that at every live show I’ve been to it’s extremely difficult to take your eyes off of Saiki; she’s beautiful and has crazy charisma.
Misa herself has said she is 165cm tall which is 5'5" very tall for Japanese women, but not as tall as people claim. She stands in front of bass cabinets that have a known height

Misa does a pick flip trick where she palms the pick between her middle finger and the palm of her hand and then flips it back to her finger and thumb while she is playing. She can switch between slap and picking smoothly and seamlessly. There is video out there demonstrating the technique.
I definitely think Misa and the others having active parts in writing the finished songs helps flesh their parts out for a fuller sound. Also, don't forget Miku couldn't play a lick of guitar when the band started so Misa was needed to fill the songs out with runs and solos etc. Something that even after Miku had become an effective rhythm guitarist had become an integral part of their composition and thankfully stuck.
Misa has stated that she is slowing her drinking down as it is not good for her. The last tour it appeared that beer was the drink of choice while on stage. I'm approaching 10 years myself. PEACE!
There is another special video you can enjoy, MISA Highlight Reel by The Daily Blab. It won't spoil your first listen to other songs as the clips are mostly the add on intros and interludes to various songs, not part of the regular score. These add on parts are typically done for 3/4 songs per touring season, then retired. Any add on part for the same song in the future will be different. As an example, I think Play has 4 different add on intros.
Since you just added it to your list, how about reacting to both versions (Official Music Video and Official Live Video) of the song Don't You Tell ME. It would make a great double header reaction. And yes, the two versions are different enough to warrant watching both of them. The OMV showcases some of the Maids individual personalities (ie. Akane eating, Misa drinking, Miku doing omajinai over the food, Kanami fawning over Saiki, Saiki pushing her away and being regal, etc...). The OLV at Yokohama Arena has an added guitar vs bass duel. I would suggest that you start with the OMV and follow with the OLV. You won't be disappointed!
As far as Misa not liking as much the music they were playing when you hear Maid in Japan, you'll understand. It's really not your typical band maid. Oh, and you can't find it on RUclips you'll have to listen on Spotify
I don't think you've watched the Thrill mv yet. That was their first. They are ALL in maid outfits. I tell reactors There is no star in Band-Maid. They are all stars. No egos. I think in the call and response in HATE? they dropped down to not block the audiences or the cameras view. (My opinion) About Us is a ballad directed to the fans. They wrote it during Covid lockdown. As you listen to more songs there are others in the library that are "B" sides that shine. Matchless Gum, Corallium, Moratorium, Hibana, . Some of the older ones like Love Passion Matador and Summer Drive are just good old rock and roll. I hope you check some of these out soon.
The ladies have plenty of extra picks on the mic stands, so it would be easier to just grab another pick, than try and pick up a dropped pick. You were correct in the first thought that kanami was lowering herself to redirect attention to Misa.
Why do American crowds chant Misa! Misa! Misa!? Because she's the best instrumentalist of the band, hands down. Out of a band of amazing instrumentalists, appreciated for their playing. And, yeah, because Kanami gets that, and keeps Misa right up front on almost every song. She's key to Band-Maid being great.

The Band is LOVEBITES with the Drummer Haruna Ishikawa aka the little big engine (nickname give by the others Lovebites members). Little because she's short 4.9 feet and Big engine due to her drums skills

In addition to slap and slide, Misa can play walking bass and tapping, but unfortunately she rarely demonstrates it. I like the way she thinks. The way she decorates each song. And something else. I got to see MISA do the opening ceremony twice in 2022 and yes, the crowd went wild each time! MISA is the best!
