Great comparison, Cheule! This is now the perfect destination for anyone asking about the difference between the optics in Hank's small and large formats with both throwy and floody emitters.
I had an audiophile friend...his favorite thing is music, but he hated listening to music because only his zillion dollar setup sounded good. I am getting into custom flashlights and learning emitter details and the like....I made a promise to myself to never become like that friend. Thankfully, I found both your lights to be absolutely fine, so I am staying the course! lol Looking forward to my eventual foray into a 3-channel quad with a W1, a pair of floody somethings, a UV, and whatever AUX can give me the best red-light option. A swissaarmy light.
We need a reference page with a matrix of LEDs and their associated color temps, lumen outputs and how that size of emitter performs on certain sizes of optics.
Thanks for the demo of W1 in the d4sv2, something I wouldn't of tried. Guess all those extra W1 I'm not putting in my FireFlies E07 will be going in my 2 d4sv2. Beam looked to have less rings with that Ledil optic too.
Just purchased one after watching this video, love your videos, you explain things really well and also get strait to the key points. Thank you I definitely love how much more throw the larger one puts out, does the lumens gradually drop on this light or is it very quickly?
As the battery sags, the lumens will drop. But the emitters don’t “wear” if that’s what you mean. Just get the battery back to 4.2v to get maximum output again.
Might be possible that the larger optics on the D4SV2 mix the color differently and its an illusion that the tint is different on the KR4. You could test that with DC Fix (model 346-0211) or another translucent window film for diffusion. There are some forums where people show they have tested some models of DC Fix for LEDs and flashlights to mix the LED color and it works well. I suppose even a translucent satin plastic of any sort would work for a visual test as long as it can completely diffuse the light so there are no hot spots.
I found that Hank accidentally sent out 5000K emitters to a bunch of people that asked for 5700K. My situation isn’t isolated. Seems like I was the first to notice, then tac_griz and a few others said “heeeeey! Mine too!”
Well, all nice and dandy, but you have the "DC Fix" on the KR4 tho.. so it is obviously going to smooth out the beam and make it a bit floodier as well.
I just went on Hank's webstore and put together this exact LED combo without knowing that's what you had (wasn't paying attention the 1st time I watched the video). My question is, how are these LEDs with heat management and step down?
I took the optics off the d4s to see if that was the issue as stated on the forums but it is not. The lh351d emitters in my copy are green garbage with optics or not.
Nice video. Is W1 in KR4 thrower than single emitter+reflector like SC31 pro size? I’m considering the same emitters choice but I’ve never had multi emitters light before.
You can configure the dual channel driver on his order page. But additionally you can email him and he’ll tell you how much additional to send (if you’ve already purchased a light as single channel)
Damn, I just got another D4SV2 in the mail with a single emitter. I wish I had known that you could split the emitters to get flood and throw. The thing is still brand new. Are there any reputable places where I could sell it?
If you're content with the 26650 cell format, a "small mace holster" from a local police uniform shop fits the D4SV2 beautifully. With a 26800 cell tube... I'm not sure what to do there.
Had 2 of them and both has completely died good luck on yours buddy, there just too much stuff going on I guess one of them lasted about 6-8 weeks the other d4s version lasted a tad longer one quit working period the other quit switching channels and was stuck on throw maybe you’ll have better luck
good afternoon! I'm from Russia. I really like this flashlight model, but we have little information about it, tell me which model is better to buy? and where can I buy with delivery to Russia?
There are two listings for D4SV2. One is single channel, the other is dual channel. This one is dual channel, and Cheule has configured his with the throwiest LED available (Osram W1) and the floodiest LED available (Samsung LH351D). It's all configurable on the dual-channel product page.
Awesome video, man! This does a great job illustrating the beam differences between these four different emitter & optic combinations.

Omigosh I didn't know these existed! (I'm new to flashlights). This is awesome!
Further down the rabbit hole...

I didn't realize that was the 2 channel thing I didn't really get it but that makes sense I may have to order one now

If you want a flood and throw light dual channel but must keep the cri rating as high as possible, what emitters would one go for?

You’re right if course. I added D-C fix to the D4SV2 after the video, and it got floodier as well, but the KR4 is still much more so.
That 26800 tube though.
I wonder how many times Hank has messed up and nobody noticed

The W1 in the carclo TIR will be floodier than in most single emitter reflector configs.
Done much better than the sofirn if25. Might need to pick one up.
What is done much better?
@@30mmBalistic the entire light
This was the same combo I was just looking at.
Quick question. How do I get the throw and flood option? Do I email Hank asking for it?

There is a BST (buy sell trade) thread on r/flashlights on Reddit. Additionally there are classifieds on places like budgetlightforum.com
@@cheule Thank you!
I just got my d4sv2 last night and i have the same issue, the thing is! I ordered the same bulb set up as this video
Now i know what i needed, the D4SV2 is not ideal to be a pocketable light due to its size. maybe il go to D4V2.
Do the flashlights have a boost driver upgrade or an additional floody optic?
These were standard driver and optic.
Have you measured the lumen and candela levels on each individual channel?
How would the same emitters do in an Emisar DT8? Would it be more flood and less throw? I know the battery has less capacity.
The only super compelling reason I’ve seen for DT8, is for low output emitters like E21A, or dual channel where 4 are likely to be off.
Hey sir do you think the D4K would have this much throw in this situation? Thanks
can you tell me what does the Quad stands for?
Thanks
There are four led emitters.
My D4SV2 is on the way. Now just need to find a holster for it

weltool makes an open holster that it fits into nicely

Can you purchase them from the website to have 2 channels?
You can! Go to intl-outdoor.com and look for dual channel options
@@cheule Thank You so much
Can you turn on all 4 emitters at the same time?
Yes!
nice, thanks
Welcome 😊

Does the d4sv2 come standard with spot and throw or is that custom?
It's custom but you can configure it on the website

@@DjDanny44 Will the keepower 15amp 26650 be able to put out enough amperage for this beast? Thank you for the video!
does anyone see the 5700k option? trying to order but only see 5000....
Hank changed the name of the emitter to 5500K at one point (h might have changed it again). It was simply because in his optics the CCT lowers.
@@cheule thanks so much for the reply. i went with the 5k and the 6k W2s but they havent arrived yet. im hoping that the shade is similar though.
