I feel so emotional, watching this video, that I want to cry. I lived in Saudia City from 1981-1987, because my dad was a pilot. Our address was NW 11-12B. I went to NCS/SAIS with my sister. Those were the happiest years of my childhood! I made my first friend in kindergarten and I also had my first crush in my class. My father would take me to the nearby basketball court to play soccer with me. I learned to ride a bicycle on the streets of Saudia City, and yes, I remember going to the BMX tracks with my mother and my sister. In the last days of our stay, we visited my sister's friend Justin, and I so did not want to leave Jeddah, that at the end of our visit I ran screaming back inside the apartment and tried to hide in Justin's room. I will always love you, Saudia City! Thank you for the memories!
It is an honor to bring back such great memories! And thank sharing them! Yes NCS was a wonderful school, and of course PCS was and always will be ten times cooler. I posted this for everyone to have a tangible momento from their time in Saudia City.
Hehehe, the crush part .. yes, my first crush ever was there, he was half Iraqi half Egyptian, a good tennis player, or so I thought of him, he lived in NW area, first met him in Star market, 😅😁 never forget him or his name .. tried to find him on Facebook but no avail..
I miss Saudia city soo much because i grew up there during my childhood. My father worked for Saudia airlines from 1998-2012 and i lived in NC area... watching this video makes me wanna cry... i used to roam these streets with my bicycle and go to star market.... ahh the days... 😢 I lived in nc5-11a and nc10-40. Like all children of Saudia expatriates who lived in Saudia city, I studied at SAIS (now known as AISJ)...
I lived there too, 1988-1995 .. NC4 area .. and yes, we used to roam the entire compound with our bikes .. miss it so much .. best days .. best childhood, i consider my self lucky 🙂
I lived there from '84-'87. I went to PCS and SAIS. I remember the baseball fields and BMX track and also making bike ramps with old tires and plywood and trudging through water after minor floods as a 3rd grader. Cool video . Thanks for posting it. I also stole candy from Star Market and smoked cigs and drank Sprite by the water tower. 3rd grade was fun.
I think I remember the first flood you're talking about: I was only six in 1987, and I was on my mother's back, she was the one trudging. I actually enjoyed the sight of that flood, I don't know why.
I worked for Saudia Special Flight Services from January 1988 to December 1995. I and wasn't married at the time so I lived in the bachelor quarters, SE7-2C. Thanks for the memories...
I never lived in Saudia City but I was always there hanging out with my friends. My dad would always pick us up from school and drop us off in NC-6 and my friends and I would play from 4pm to 1 am. 2001-2017 days, miss ya fam.
Thank you so much for uploading and taking this video. I actually got to see my childhood neighbourhood and home NC10 and it was something I longed for ! You had me in tears as I thought I would never get to see it again since we moved in 1990. So many wonderful memories.
Lived in Jeddah from 1997-2011, 1997-2009 at the apartments for families whose relatives that worked at marriott hotel jeddah then from 2009-2011 in saudia city compound
Very emotional watching this as we lived SE for a number of years - First in a town house then in a large duplex. So peaceful and full of Amenities. Best time of my life with family in SV City! Now just a ghost town poorly maintained.
Hello! I lived in Saudia City from 1977-1989. My address then was SW8-23. It was so nice to see it in your video at 10:38. I am so grateful for your videos on Saudia City Compound. If you are still there, could you maybe make a more detailed video of SW 8-23 and the baseball pitch across it? We had a tree house my father built and swings and a slide on the other side(I believe it was called the front yard) of the house. I wonder if it is still there. Thanks in advance!
OMG! Please do this again but with comments and explanations!!! Though hearing birds in the background was nice... So much has changed / grown since I was there, I couldn't identify everything. Fantastic!
Thank you for uploading this video. Appreciate your effort to make the clip. I lived there for several years quite sometime ago. Missing the place and the long lost dear friends from most parts of the world's corners. Sometimes presently many nice and vivid memories there still play good parts in my mind. Anyway we all had to move on for several reasons. Thanks to Suadia Airlines that had brought the most beautiful people of the time to work together and shared many nice and wonderful experiences. among us especially during the period of the 'golden age'; I hope 'diamond age' at present and the future. All the best for the Airlines, my respected and ex bosses, friends, employees, house keepers, drivers including Suadia City and the lodging hostess quater also the youtuber of this very wonderful clip.😍🙏🏻🌹👍👍👍🤟🤟🤟💐💐💐👏👏👏
Thanks for sharing this, I never dreamed someone would have captured or uploaded this. I lived there from '82 until '93 and I think my parents stayed until '02 or so. I can't believe how green everything is, not to mention how commercial. ...and road signs, wow! Did they ever actually do anything with the theater or is it still pretty much a place for teenagers to climb the wall and get into trouble? I do miss the compound, but what I miss more than anything is shawarma.
Lived there 1988-1995 .. and yessss, the Shawarma! There was a restaurant outside the compound run by Egyptians and Turkish chefs and their flafel and shawerma were the best.. 😅
There was also a Lebanese fruit juice stand with shawarma at the minimarket just North of the compound. A friend and I would often sneak off. We were probably asking for trouble then, would probably be disastrous if kids do that there today.
+graeme heaton You lived in Saudi City during its golden age, moved out while it was deteriorating. I moved in shortly after you, and moved out in '11. Now from what I hear, it's really bad.
Wow my mum sent me this video as i grew up in this city as a child until i was 10, i havent seen it in 26 years. We lived near the mosque if i remember correctly. Are all the swimming pools still there and the BMX track??? I also spent a lot of time on that baseball field growing up and riding my bike around that city. Thanks for the memories!!!!!
+Mike Edwards Not sure about the BMX track, haven't seen any trace of that. There was a swimming pool (aka Sharks swim team pool) in NE area but that was torn down. The rest of the swimming pools, houses, offices, Baseball fields, etc as the same.
+Mike Edwards The compound is nowhere near as nice as it was when you lived there. I moved in during the late 2000's and the compound was doing bad, all I did was hear stories from old timers of how it was during your time.
Very beautiful video, but I have a question. Don't you miss out on a lot of the local culture, living in a bubble inside such a compound? I could imagine being hesitant to leave the compound and immerse in the culture / language when you live in a compound that offers all you need.
Yakz HF absolutely valid point. There is a difference, and at times it definitely does feel like a bubble. People have the option to go out and take in the culture
wow I never expect to see Saudia city again I have not been a resident there but I worked there for two years under SADACA est. we even operated the open theater there with julie andrew movie sound of music but apparently banned the next day the year was1981-83 now I'm 65 years old reminiscing days thank you

Late 70's to mid 80's was vibrant and full of life. Ghosts roam this place now.. I left half a tooth at the BMX tracks way back when...

Yep remember that, I was there 6th & 7th grade. 81-83
Lived there 1988-1995
@@patriot4786 dirt tracks were near the baseball field.
@@sarahragaeisaleh I remember that period and the people as well. By mid/late 80's demographics of the compound had almost completely changed.
