Great solos by everyone, but Gary's is spectacular- it sits so well in the piece and it leaves one wondering how he does it! If I recall, the scene was, at this time, still very much dominated by Colaiuta, Weckl and Chambers, and whilst there were some 'clones' or these players (dare I say Cliff Almond- a the time- a bit of a Weckl clone!) Gary had his own voice and was definitely 'up there' with those contemporary greats.
My thoughts exactly, I'd love to have seen him hitting more mainstream recordings and more videos of him, his technical ability was insane and yet he opted to go with the wide open bass drum on the Paint the World album and not be a clone, I was always in awe of him, just that one album made me rate him as top 5 at the time.
Nice recordings Novak is a BADASS! Love his flow

absolutely - Gary is my No.1 - much better than Weckl, Gary has that unbelievable natural flow that cannot be taught
Fantastic player, his single strokes are insane!
