    Wow! I've watched every one of your videos (and more than once, too), but this one is perhaps the best one I've seen. The top down comparison of a correct swing along with a pretty good swing is most revealing. You've outdone yourself on this one!

    8:51 paused: Draw a line on Paul's back, from lead shoulder to rear shoulder, and observe that angle's relationship to the target line. Without getting too deep into the trigonometry and just eye-balling it, Paul's angle is about 45 degrees, the student's is about 30 degrees. That's a tell tale sign of stalled rotation. There are some pros who have 60 or 70 degrees of rip rotation at impact. Just take a look at Cameron Champ paused at impact. The angle between his hips and shoulders and the direction both are pointing at impact. You need both correct to really get it all working together. By far the greatest hurdle for most golfers is lack of rotation, almost always attributed bad set-up and poor sequencing. Trust me I know, because that's what I did for years, and still have to work at it to not fall back into bad habits.

    Hi Paul, I am new to golf and the area of my game that needs the most work is the driver. This is the first video I’ve seen with this overhead view and detailed breakdown of what your body should be doing every few degrees of rotation. So much better than the “grip here, stand here, swing” videos the big channels show that work for about 3 shots at the range before you’re back to your old misses. Subscribed.

    Great lesson Paul. Have been enjoying your videos for years. Used to hit the ball around 300 yds consistently with an effortless swing. I ruined it trying to tinker with correct positions and lengthening my back swing. Gradually lost 40 to 50 yards on my drives and still trying to get it back. Really appreciate the amount of content you've been producing lately and I'm glad to see your channel growing.

      Thanks. We have all been there. I too fell down the distance rabbit hole. Got to be content with 300 (for life though). An effortless swing is for life. I think we lose sight of that for some short term distance. Stay focused. Get back on track by starting with the grip. Then hinging and rehinging. Then add this arm unit to your rotating body. Last step is to never hit or help the shot with the arms.

      This is new and different for most people. I am already thinking about firing the lower even as I go back. The first step is to know the move you are going to do. It is like a throwing motion. You get used to the move. Then as you go back and near the top you are only thinking about this move to hit the ball. You think arms and hitting and it will be a disaster. I often see that my divot indicates an outside to in club path. I think this is because I’m starting the downswing with my arms instead of returning my belt buckle to the ball first thing

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 года назад

      The divot is taking after the ball is hit so it is usually not right at the target. For righties it would go slightly left. Lefties slightly right due to the club following the arc.

    So simple yet so difficult! Seeing the club head go through the tip of the arc where he is cutting across and you are squaring the face was very helpful. I know I can deliver the clubhead just like you I have got to stop trying to kill it with my arms and let my wrists go. I have done it but just dont do it consistently. I keep holding on n to this jim furik strong grip and I think that has my face open at impact too. Monster high slice when I really let it go, weak little cut when I keep it in the fairway and about once or twice a round, I hit a sweet little draw. Have accidentally hit a few monster drives straight as an arrow, here and there but just cant do it consistently.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 года назад

      Yes, that is a big one. Serious power loss cutting across it like that. Why don't you just do the neutral grip. Inside a week or two you will make the change and hit it so much better. Up to you: ruclips.net/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/видео.html read some of the comments of those who switched.

      @@paulwilsongolf watching the video now thank you! I dont have a good reason for holding on to the strong grip I think I am just fighting myself.because the idea is to get the top hand to roll over and mine tends to lag behind, leaving the face open. I guess clocking my grip to a weaker position seems like it would advance the face that much more and help me square it up at impact. I see a lot of amateurs with their top hand so weak the palm faces up. However since I have started focusing on my body turn for power and loose arms, I am hitting more draws and it is becoming less of a problem. Trying to kill it with arm power and a strong grip = monster slice right?

  • @jb0915
    @jb0915 Год назад

    My problem is from top to ball just like this guy. When I do hit properly, I avatar 280, but 95 percent of the time, I'm hitting 200 to 210, always dead straight but no distance, same with irons. I don't come over the top, though. I fixed that

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Год назад

      Well you are hitting with your arms and not using your body. 90+ percent of everyone I teach is in this boat. They hit it about 200. So you need to use your body while keeping the arms turned off.
      Watch this first and see how little effort I can put into it to fly it by you:
      ruclips.net/video/Q_LW7nm4ssk/видео.html
      I cannot be hitting those with just my arms. I am literally putting nothing into it. So once you know that concept (which is what I teach) you need to get your body moving. So you hit the top and fire the lower quickly allowing the arms to follow. Watch this:
      ruclips.net/video/FV8uSZ16Bys/видео.html
      Then if you want to always hit it 280 then do these 2 drills for 30 days (practice swings):
      Do these 2 drills daily and in a month you will be killing it:

      I have tons of tips on here to get you started. The problem with most people is they don't do drills or practice enough. I tell them to do swings at home and they don't do it. At your age the big problem I find is the person not turning fast enough. I tell the person to drive the legs and hips harder and it looks exactly the same. You really have to put effort into using the legs. Arms are loose. You have to do it daily until you are good at it. I have put any tips for seniors in this playlist. Just pick out some of the hip drills and do them daily as well as hinging and rehinging: ruclips.net/video/8docjX_sxUk/видео.html

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 года назад +3

      This is you hitting with your arms. This sends it over the top and you hit the heel. Extending your arms isn't going to work either cause you stand up which pulls the club in and you hit the toe. You need to find the correct set up. Butt of the club would be 6-7" from you belt buckle with irons 8-10" with driver. You are coiling and hinging. Then turn the arms off completely in the downswing. You are not hitting or helping the shot with the arms in the downswing. So grip, hinge and rehinge. Then attach this arm unit to your body.
