@@shodan1451 I will in time. I'm a dad now, kids are too young for anime (no attention span for even Ghibli) and I'm super busy. But I wrote it down, it's like number 5 on my list right now.
I love how the show portrayes every player's playstyle with the person's personality so well. Even if you don't know anything about shogi this show becomes so much more intresting to watch.
@@xertifiedthicc yup, I have watched that one too and that anime is all about character motivations rather than the actual game itself. While in March comes in like a lion the show keeps your intrest in the game too.
This anime really encapsulates depression better than any other work of fiction I’ve read or seen. It hits everything just right. From the seemingly benign triggers that make you randomly weep, the extremely surreal moments of genuine happiness that remind you what it feels like to be happy, to the instinctual reaction of pushing everyone else away because you’re afraid of getting hurt even more. Damn...
A new video from Beyond-san!! Getting a notification from this channel absolutely made my day. I feel like a kid who just watched the latest movie from his favorite actor. Keep up the good work and have a great year dude.
I remember my friend talking about March Comes in Like a Lion years ago when the second season was airing, and I wondered how it could be. But I trusted him and put it on my plan to watch list, where it sat there until last year. And what I found was a master class in storytelling. A show that can make you depressed at times but at the same time make your sides heart from laughing, and by the second season, you are in troped in this world of shogi trying to learn more about the game in hopes of understanding it.
This series hit me so hard, especially during the Bully Arc. Everyting was such an emotional rollercoaster, and it makes you remember to treasure the quiet moments.
As weeby as it may sound, March comes in like a Lion is the reason why I am determined to learn Japanese. I want to be able to read this manga and understand it. The translations are so poetic and profound that I feel sad about missing out on whatever is lost in translation.
Great job, Joe. You had me crying within three minutes! 😆 Thank you for once again recommending a show I didn't know I needed to watch. After a lifetime of locking myself in & everyone else out, I am beginning to slowly let down my guard & learn to let other people love me & accept me, even as I struggle to love & accept myself. I know I'm going to find a lot of truth & a lot of answers as I watch this with a few good friends. I had the privilege of watching the original Kino's Journey last weekend as I was recovering from a minor bout of food poisoning, & all I could do the entire show was think how perfect it would be for a Beyond Ghibli video. The art style, animation, pacing, the titular lead, the philosophical questions it asks & then so sweetly answers just beg for your warm, comforting, yet deeply analytical approach. Even if you never consider making a video about Kino's Journey, please give it a watch if you haven't already seen it, & a rewatch if you have. It would be nice to think I was able to maybe give something back to the man who has become the "Voice of Anime" to me & so many other otaku. Haruhi bless & keep you, my friend!
I've read Kino's journey and really loved it. Its definitely a potential future video! Take care of yourself, I'm glad to hear you're beginning to let people in :)
This is my shit right here. When I first watched it I was blown away, and before it I had only seen my hero academia. It showed me how varied anime can be. And how beautiful
Music, art style, spacing in story telling, characters and their development and most important of all the warmness that this masterpiece gives. A very huge thank you to Umino Chika sensei. ❤
A year late, but this video is the single BEST narration and interpretation I've seen covered for an anime. You have preached every detail I love about the anime that I could not ever put into words. Simply and truly glorious, keep it up!
You are truly an underrated channel. I feel as though you put your heart into each video and your soothing voice just caresses my heart. Thank you for this video!
I find shogi to be a more applicable analogue for life than western chess. Shogi tends to become even more complex and difficult as the game progresses and pieces are removed from the board; chess becomes somewhat less complex as it draws to a conclusion. A good shogi player must always consider this unseen variable, just like we must think about what we might not be anticipating to get through life.
the whole show is embodied by a kotatsu that warm heart of the show slowy warming the rest of the body .... hosently at the end of the show i felt like i had been given the best hug of my life
Even tho this video is a very good anime review . This felt more personal at a emotional level. I have been struggling with alot of lost these past months. I've been struggling with my past demons for quite a while now I felt like I couldn't go forward. My job didn't make me feel like I was doing something for my life, I didn't feel like I add a future. Monney didn't make me feel better either. I didn't even see the point of living anymore, but even tho I tried to end it, I didn't want it. I've lost alot of pieces and felt like there was no returning points which made me go in a deeper down path. Then I seen this video in my recommended today. While watching it I was crying because I felt a connection deep in my soul which made a spark deep in the abyss I was surrounded with and made me finally see a glimpse of hope. Thanks you so much for making your video's you deserve so much more subscribers, you made believe I still can go forward thank you.
I stumbled upon March Comes in Like a Lion last year, and it has since become one of my favorite pieces of media. I fear it might sound like an exaggeration, but I think it played a huge part in making me snap out of something I'd been living with for so long. I'd been years deep in what felt like a never-ending depressive episode, and just like that, this show made something snap in me. I saw so much of myself in this early lonely and utterly hopeless Rei, I was so taken aback when he started to actually get better. I felt as though he was somehow trying to carry me upwards with him. The show didn't instantly cure me or got rid of all my problems, but it took me by the shoulders, shook me and said, "What are you doing? You can at least try!" I had forgotten art had the power to strike a cord like that. This video definitely makes justice to all of that emotion the likes of which I'll never forget. Thank you so much.
There is no other series that represents the warmth of a family as well as 3-gatsu no Lion. I really hope we don't have to wait too long for a third season.
Such a great video on a fantastic series. I constantly say this show evokes the feelings of isolation and home better then almost anything and the warmth of the girls house is one of my favorite settings in anime.
thank you so much for this video. March comes in like a lion is one of if not my favourite anime of all time. But for the longest time i knew not why it was special, but simply that it was. Thank you for helping me appreciate something so dear to my heart once again.
Your writing, narration and video editing are stunning. Thanks for your hard work! I’m happy Sangatsu has reached enough you to deliver something of this quality.
Thank you so much for covering this. I found this show at the very beginning of the pandemic, maybe not the best time to watch something so melancholic but it hit all the right spots for what I was needing. Thank you so much again.
So happy you did this. It’s one of the most beautiful anime I’ve ever seen and it’s a fantastic tribute to the effects of depression and what real love looks like in the face of it

reminds me of ping pong the animation tbh. i love both shows because the characters are insanely well-written
