    loved it Keithh! I'm going to give this a try! (what about grouping and masking instead of merging the visible leaving anon destructive workflow?)

      Hi Glen, thanks for your comment, I’m not the best at Photoshop tbh, enough to get by so I’ll have to learn how to do that, I know about grouping and smart layers and all those things but never really used them. Thanks for the tip 😀 I’d love to see your results if you give it a go. If your on VERO I’m @keithguppy 👍🏻

    Great & very interesting & straight to the point video Garry, ive been trawling youtube to find the easiest way to do Layer masks relating to glowing mushrooms. A lot of them are so complicated it makes the head spin. Need to watch them 20 times to get the gist of the process. But your video is so easy to watch, great work as with your other videos.

      Hey Dave, thanks for commenting, I’m not the best at photoshop to be honest so the easiest way is the best for me. There is probably an easier way but like you said there are so many out there.

    The music was way too loud for the volume for your speaking.

    • @keithguppy
      @keithguppy  2 года назад +1

      Hey, thanks for your feedback, I’ll keep this in mind, sometimes when I do the fast forwarding I still talk to the camera but it’s not usually relevant so I just keep the music high, and when editing I fade up the music when not talking. So many things to think about editing these videos lol. I might reshoot theses next season and I can correct all the little errors Thanks again. 😃

    I have a question...Why you need to add la exposition layer to light underneath? What if you make a shot illumination from below?

    • @keithguppy
      @keithguppy  9 месяцев назад +1

      Good question, personally I feel that if you directly shine the light onto the underside of the cap, the Glow effect will be more like direct light and wouldn’t look as good. Having said that, I’ve never tried any other way.l so it could work. why not give it a go when you try this next time. Thanks for commenting

    Nice shot! But i believe your doing it a bit harder than it need to be? :)
    1) You could just increase brightness/exposure under the mushrooms instead of bothering with the flashlight (not sure it will look totally the same but you will also have more control over highlights/mids/shadows)
    2) If you still want to use the flashlight you could just copy the first mask to the other layers instead of painting it on all over again
    3) Use full opacity when painting the mask and then lower the opacity of the layer instead if needed to get the strength you want, and maybe one layer is enough

    • @keithguppy
      @keithguppy  2 года назад +1

      Hi Joakim, thanks for your comment, I agree I may be doing it harder than need be, I am not the best at photoshop so it still takes trial and error sometimes, in response to your points,
      1. I personally don't think increasing the exposure would have the same result because I don't think you could increase the ambient light enough to get that glowing look ( prob close though) unless maybe you had some strong sunlight, but then you would have to dull the rest of the image.
      2. Great idea, I haven't had a lot of experience with layers wouldn't this give you a blanket paint layer bringing in everything rather than being able to paint in specific areas of the light? in each layer, the intensity is in a different place so you would only want a small area of each image brought in?.
      3. I had not thought of altering the layer opacity
      Thanks for your feedback, definitely something to think about for next season :-)

    And the moss is not lit up as if the light came from the mushrooms

    a nature/wildlife photographers greatest enemy is a dog walker. I have had many tripods hit and knocked over by dogs, even in reserves. I love dogs and I have one but the notion of letting my dog off a leash in a wildlife reserve especially when there are signs saying to keep dogs on leads baffles me. woodland and wildlife is being decimated because of this.

    • @keithguppy
      @keithguppy  2 года назад

      I am a big dog fan but not when out taking photos, I have had two lab’s myself and I know how clumsy dogs can be and so unpredictable, and very curious too, I’ll always say hello to a dog if it approaches me, however I’d rather they stay away, I’ve had bags urinated on and tripods nearly knocked over because I wasn’t paying attention to the dog, the owners always want a chat too, which I don’t mind but I’m just very uncomfortable talking to people. 😂

    All this is great but kind of artificial.

    • @keithguppy
      @keithguppy  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching my video! I understand that you might find the effect to be a bit artificial, and that's fair. I did use a torch to make the mushroom glow, and then I edited the video in Photoshop to make the effect look more dramatic. However, I wanted to create a video that was visually appealing and would capture people's attention. I hope you still enjoyed the video, even if you found the effect to be a bit artificial.
