Love how Jimmy expands the solo when they do this live. Such wonderful finger picking.

This is an awesome live version. All about Planty's dog named "Strider"

Yes you’re right it’s Welsh. They wrote several songs at a cottage in Wales. This is about Robert’s dog named Stryder. In later shows in Robert’s solo career he changed it to Arthur at the end for the dog he had after Stryder passed. Nobody but nobody can do it like Zeppelin…the GOATS!!!!

I have a German Shepherd. He's 4 years old and his name ìs Stryder in honor of Robert's buddy. My buddy, he sure does look scary, but he's anything but a guard dog. He's never met a stranger. He meets everyone like they go way back

@@richardcranium5048 that’s wonderful!! I also have had 2 German shepherd’s & they are amazing dogs. I’ve also named my cats & dogs with shouts out to Zeppelin/Robert!!

With Plant & Page sitting, it gave more the feel of friends hanging out at home jamming. I haven’t seen this video before, but have heard the song, thanks for playing & reacting. Yes never judge a book by its cover, I will say I’m so glad so many black people are enjoying my favorite band. Music is one thing that can bring people of all walks of life together, especially great music.

Bonzo doing back up vocals. Such a cool band, the way Michael Jordan was cool because his talent was off the charts.

I'm glad you reacted to this, a lot of wise words again at the end as usual and I really love the story you told about that guy.

Yeah, that WAS cool. Like, I know only a couple songs by Tupac, for ex., or more recently by Tom Mcdonald, but I can already tell they're brilliant, and now it's on me to explore more, which will also be its own reward!

I was surprised John Bonham singing the backing vocals. But then he had been doing it in the studio.

This brought back the memory of the time when my friend and I jumped up and down on a bed for the entire song laughing and giggling like children....we were in our mid twenties at the time.

Lots of fun. Saw them do it in 1977 at the Oakland Colosseum. “Day on the Green”.

Led Zeppelin were always experimenting... they didn't want to just be a 'heavy rock' band after the success of 'Led Zeppelin II' in 1969... So, they released 'Led Zeppelin III' in 1970 that was comprised of mostly acoustic songs. That record sold less (at the time) because fans wanted another hit like 'Whole lotta love'... Led Zeppelin were also fed up w/ the critics in the press constantly badmouthing them in print.
It was also in 1970 that Led Zeppelin also included an acoustic set at their concerts... by 1970, Led Zeppelin were headliners and drawing 3 times more ticket sales than The Rolling Stones in some markets... Led Zeppelin also played 3 hour sets w/ no opening band; George Harrison (The Beatles) was shocked when they told him how long they played live (Harrison recalled that The Beatles on tour could not even play 1 hour sets at a time and were often lucky to play over an hour)
When they released 'Led Zeppelin IV' in 1971, they decided that it would have no title, no band name printed on the cover... no lyrics printed (except for 1 song - 'Stairway to Heaven')... and no band photo (Each of the 4 members of Led Zeppelin were represented by a symbol each) They wanted the record to sell because of the music first... not the band name. And it worked - the album has sold 24 million copies in the US alone... They did the same thing w/ the next album 'Houses of the Holy' in 1972.
When they did the 1975 double album 'Physical Graffiti'... half the songs on the record were acoustic and half were heavy rock... Even today, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page refuse to be credited w/ their music being tied to the 'heavy metal' scene.
