I think what Nintendo needs to do is make the successor a more traditional social media, with the ability to have your own profile pictures & targeted it at their older audiences rather than trying to keep it sanitized for all the kids. Still ban people for posting porn or being bigoted, but otherwise just be a relaxed space for Nintendo fans to come together from their console and discuss their favorite games in a space that Nintendo sees, they can even use that to gauge interest in certain things to make in the future. The drawing feature was nice too, it should come back and once again, just ban/delete the inappropriate drawings. But don't sanitize it to a fault.

i never had a console with the miiverse, but i think it would be awesome if they added both miiverse and a massive lobby that you could walk around in as your mii. like a mall with shops for each game channel
I've actually used that feature alot though I knew that understandably going to be removed after Sony understandably removed the feature for likely the same reason. Switch 2 does need a proper Miiverse replacement or least direct messaging between online friends.
There's a certain charm in DMs like on Xbox, but I can't put it past Nintendo for not wanting that on a platform that is specifically designed for children, rather than incidentally inhabited by them
Twitter didn't work anyway, it said that the browser was unsupported when I tried to link my account. I think they removed it because Twitter decided to just stop linking Nintendo accounts.
Biggest problem is they advertise to kids. But at the same time social media for kids is an untapped market. That social media has to be on lockdown though. Or separate the sociala medias by kids and adult. It would be super difficult, but get it right and you tap into an untapped market. My question for the switch 2 is are they going to split portable and console again. I know they really like making every system with a different wacky gimmick, but I think the hybrid thing worked super well. Maybe also adding two screens and having it be like a slide out phone would be awesome. Or partner with Samsung and use one if their foldable screens. That would be awesome.
I honestly hope that they don't bring back Miiverse. As funny as it was, it was also a bit of a mess, in part due to the largely younger demographic and less than ideal moderation. With that being said, I'd be open to Nintendo bringing back more significant social features if it was handled correctly. Being able to more easily find people who you connect with (without it being too likely to turn into a massive echo chamber and even if it is as simple as age brackets), better moderation and filtering would be much better.

I was shocked as Nintendo usually likes to keep things under control when it comes down to communication, so why even have these features in the first place. Nintendo should bring back miiverse to make things more controlled and stable in the Nintendo world. However, I see Nintendo just absolutely not doing anything and us not having anything. Nintendo can make miiverse work, especially now with Pretendo, people are loving that miiverse is back (unoficially) I hope Nintendo sees this and brings back miiverse. I felt like miiverse would have been perfect during covid or something, games have been going online more than ever before now, Nintendo can control miiverse and make it a great place for all places. Miiverse is the perfect world for all Nintendo fans to exist and chat/learn together.

Posting to social media is not completely removed. If you want to post your screenshots and video clips, you can just use the Send to phone option. Scan a QR code, then download your files to your phone. Then from your phone post to X or FB.
I feel like Nintendo could smartly incorporate some sort of miiverse with the news app. Making things more personal, funny, and close (like the splatoon twitter account), rather than commercial, maybe even allowing users to comment and other stuff too! The switch was the first time that there was a news app, updating users on new games and features coming out, without having to look into outside sources. I feel like it would have been better if Nintendo doubled down with Miiverse and made it so that you could just live natively on the switch, without having to use any devices outside of Nintendo when you want to know stuff. I don’t think Miiverse is coming to the switch, but since these changes are happening (many social media apps are falling off), I hope Nintendo responds and with a new console coming in the future make Miiverse, and take many of the old features that were once removed from the wii U. I felt like with the switch Nintendo became more bland and commercial, losing their old personality and fun (like Reggie): However I hope they come back with this factor and make Nintendo fun and soulful!
Social media has gotten out of hand and Nintendo has had issues with it historically. From 3DS to the Wii/U. Miiverse was fun, however even that didn't last as long as it should have.
Nintendo likely isn't supporting social media integration in their next console, likely because people barely upload content through the system and friend codes seem to be the prefered option of making a friend list. It would make business sense to pull out now when it won't be missed.

In addition, for some games like Splatoon post-Miiverse, posting to Twitter through your Switch was the only way to make public posts that would show up in other people's instances of the game. It wasn't full featured, either. All you could do with this integration was post through a Nintendo-managed GUI in your Photos app, or as decided by the game you were playing. There wasn't a full instance of Musk-managed Twitter you could scroll on your Switch, and thank god for that
