My 6 children are 53-39 and they said they will always remember hearing that song on Saturdays as we clean the house ❤️

Phesadgra Steward Oh yes!!!!
Phesadgra Steward I always cry happiness cuz love came through
"Claudine" is one of my favorite movies. I always watch it.
Diahann Carroll should have won the Oscar for best actress- hands down.
The movie Claudine never gets old, a must see. And the sound track Gladys Knight and the Pips.... if you don't have it in your collections, you go and get it! A must have!
Me too 😥
I love how her son Charles had to return home at the end of this movie. And they all came together as a family. This is my favorite part of the movie.
i have to agree to a point, but he was an asshole to choose to protest on his mother's wedding day and brought the cops too.
JazzyJZ 59 Yes, this part still gives me chills.
Kimara Mason that was the icing on the cake make me have butterflies.
Ok how is it that the arrest charles dragged him out side first. But then disappeared. And we dont see him again till he chases the van in the end lol
wilfred35 Claudine’s husband physically went off on the police officer and intercepted Charles’ initial arrest. But eventually all of them went to the station, because of Charles’ involvement with the radical group he was part of, but also because Rupert assaulted a police officer. The younger children were probably afraid for their mother, who joined her husband on the van, so they ran towards to the van. And it looks like Charles, as old and big as he was (lol), came to an understanding that he needed to cool out and return to the fold. This will always be one of my favorite movies. RIP Diahann Carroll.
I love it when Gladys sing" No Superstar, I love you just the way are"

Yea, that's the part that gets you "where you going; That's my husband and where you going young lady; that's my mama" pulling on the hart strings. And Glades knight bellows out "I want to be what pleases you" Make yours a happy home.

Author G D Grace says: "Claudine" - One of my favorite movies of all time. I cannot just hear "Make Yours A Happy Home" without seeing this scene. There was an innocence about this era that will forever touch my heart, and my senses. That final scene of them strolling down the street smiling. Perfect! ~GD
Wow Curtis Mayfield was a hell of a songwriter.
When I learned that he wrote the songs from the movie Sparkle, that blew me away.. and now this.
May he truly rest in peace.

You hear the message work not welfare our people wanted to work but the man wanted us to stay dependent. Loe the message and the movie. I went to the movies to see this and the next time it comes on TV I am going to get it on my DVR.
Man I can't stop watching this, especially the little girl said it would be only 4 of them, and the little brother eats invincible food 😳.

This movie -- what can I say -- LORD, the movie, the soundtrack -- LOVE IT!!! I was only 12yrs in 1974 so I started to love the movie later -- catching it on cable -- those classic black movies. The other movie -- COOLEY HIGH ("It's So Hard To Say Good-bye To Yesterday") -- YES!!! Great movies.

@JamesJones-zq7pc Hi I have to see.
💝💝💝💝💝my Favorite y'all of All time💋
Wonderful music, still sounds beautiful! And one of the best movie endings of all time
RIP Diahann Carroll.
Diahann Carroll was simply gorgeous in this movie.
a great movie
this music makes mecry thanks gladys
The fact that Roop was willing to dive into a marriage with Claudine and become a father to her kids spoke a lot of his character. In return, Claudine would've more than likely encouraged him to pursue a relationship with his own estranged kids. By them marrying, it also would allow Claudine the opportunity to perhaps seek better employment as she would no longer have to worry about hiding her job form the gov't.
MsTexas73 enjoy the movie don't remake it it all about a mom doing the best she can those day it still happens just a different time mr welfare is still a live in well lol
The struggle was so hard back then! This movie captured it Beautifully
Good points
LMAO, my favorite part..
Still love, love, love this movie. 1 of my favorites of all time. Diahann Carroll, simply beautiful !
Rest In Power Mr James Earl Jones
Gladys needs to add this soundtrack to her show! This is great music!
This is my all time favorite movie I just love it love it and the music is awesome!
Great Soundtrack. EXCELLENT Movie.
What always confused me about this scene was the fact that the police came in looking for Charles but he wasn't in the paddy wagon when it pulled off. He ran up to it after it pulled off.
Me too RedLion. Big memories of watching this all the time with my mom, also a single mother.
I'm with ya on that. My mom raised all 6 of us (It includes 1 cat). But we had mice, so the cat was def. needed. Mother's are so strong is all I have to say. It's incredible. I surely miss the old times and getting my ass wiped for doing the wrong thing. Good times. This movie took place around the corner from my moms moms (go figure).
Anybody notice Chip Fields @ 1:44?
Happy Happy Birthday Diahann Carroll! I love this movie! One of the best of the 70s! It does not need to be remade! Hear that Hollywood!
That is one of the greatest movies in time
One thing you better not do is mess with a Blackwoman children
James Watts TRUE THAT!!!!!!

Classic scene! I luv how Claudine isn't saying anything and lets him make the decision
I love this movie always.

The Soundtrack is awesome, Great Movie
I totally agree. I was only 2 when this movie came out but for some reason this movie speaks to me. And Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs was before my time but damn he was fine. LOL
This movie makes you proud to be black. It shows you the struggle that black people had just to live and love and all the obstacles that generations overcame. You can feel this scene deep in your soul

best movie soundtrack I ever heard.
@MsGeigei THEENDING WAS CLASSIC...I CRIED BECASUE IT HAD A MESSAGE ...LOVE CONCURES ALL
every time I see this ending I cry
this was the way it was in the 70s
I was 18 when this movie came out. I loved it then. But now that my mom has passed on, this movie makes me cry. My mom was 21 years old and had 5 children. And not married. She had her 5th son 6 years later. 5 boys, 1 girl. This movie reflects lots of black people lives. Having to make it in insurmountable odds. Dealing with a corrupt system that kept black people down and then call them irresponsible if their married broke up or they had to go on welfare. But God will make all things new again. And the first will be last and the last, first. When I see my mom again I will tell her she did a great job.
