Your diplomacy is outstanding. It's clear that Vince is not at the top of his game here, and you did everything you could to avoid slamming him. Well done.
That's one way to look at it. I wouldn't particularly want anyone slammed, but I think honesty is more important than diplomacy, and in all honesty, coming from a Motley Crue fan, Vince's performance was terrible, and he has lost any strength of vocals that he ever had, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I have seen, he never could quite hack it live.
Chris Wayne I know, Ken is very kind, not catty at all and I think that is part of being an objective, good person and secure in your own abilities. I have never watched vocal coaches on you tube until recently, and thank god it was Ken that I found! I watch every new one , look forward to them, and never watch other coaches. 🛸🛸🛸🛸🛸
I strongly agree, great guitarrist. Whenever he plays live, the guitar sounds as if it was a studio recording, but it's not, he's amazing. Favorite guitar solos: Home Sweet Home, Girls Girls Girls, Looks That Kill, Dr. Feelgood, Same Ol' Situation, Take Me To The Top and Too Young To Fall In Love. Another great and underrated guitarrist is Neal Schon from Journey. He played with Santana at the age of 16, and founded Journey in 1975. Favorite guitar solos: Still They Ride, Send Her My Love, Stone In Love, Who's Crying Now, Faithfully, Separate Ways, Anytime, Feeling That Way, Lights, Of A Lifetime, Mother Father, La Raza Del Sol, Only The Young, Wheel In The Sky, Edge Of The Blade, After The Fall, When You Love A Woman, La Do Da, Ask The Lonely, Chain Reaction, Winds Of March, and Back Talk.
This guy was so nice just pointing out the positive stuff. I thought as a vocal coach he was going to lay into Vince for barely puffing out the lyrics. But I was wrong, this guy is a class act.

Compared to seeing them in the late 80's Vince is singing better. So sad. He trailed off lyrics on all his songs way worse than this video when I saw them. This was in Germany and it was basically a gymnasium with the pullout bleachers. It was so bad. I wanna say it was Ufo and Dokken in the show. Ufo stole the show. I really like Crue but that was a terrible outing for them.
The thing that most impresses me, is Mick dealing with ankylosing spondylitis throughout his life, yet, he still incredibly rocks the house! He is an amazing guitarist and an amazing man!

People can talk shit about Vince all they want but Vince Neil is going to go down in history as the frontman for the most notorious rock band of all time. Everyone gets older and changes. We’re all human. I think he’s doing pretty damn good especially for the kind of lifestyle he had. Good reaction, classy and intelligent.
You need your ears checked. He’s shockingly terrible. Should have stayed with Corabi. As for getting old, he didn’t sound much better in 1986. He has never been good live.
Acidrooster well Nikki did say he didn’t care if the dude could sing or not, he had the showmanship and the look and was good enough vocal wise to work with
Motley Crue was one of the best live shows I've ever seen. Vince seemed to struggle when I saw them back in the day, singing about half to 3/4 of the lyrics and out of breath but still sounded like the classic albums in tone.
You are an absolute gentleman for not ripping Vince apart. Not that it seems to be in your character, but on this one it would be so easy to do. Anyways, just wanted to complement your humanity, good sir. Have a good day!

God bless him for not bashing Vince for not being as good as he used to be, nobody can hit those notes forever. Glad to see he kept it up for the fans though. Hats off all around.
Well that overdose story is wrong. That's not one story. It's two stories. The lyrics "valentines in London, found me in the trash" was from the UK, where he started to OD. He claimed a dealer beat him with a baseball bat, which is nonsense. No dealer would do that, they would know it wouldn't do anything other than maybe kill the guy. But he likely would dump in the bins. As a struggling addict for 20-odd years I have seen this kind of thing happen. The other story, where he was injected with adrenaline, was from when he overdosed in LA. Slash was allegedly there, and he put him in the shower and called the paramedics.
My band opened for them in Northern Alberta , Canada in 1981, they were promoting their independent release on Leather Records. They got booed off the stage and the crowd was chanting for my band to return to stage. I had a few drinks with Tommy Lee after the show and I asked him "how do you keep playing when the crowd reacts like that" His response we don't give a flying F---- what these people think, we know we have something great going on, they can go f---- themselves.. .. 6 months later I remember watching MTV(new at the time) and there they were in heavy rotation on MTV and signed with Electra. They took it seriously!
Ive known vince for years and you cant help but love the guy, Hes been a sweetheart to me and alot of other ladies, Dam I love Sammy, But I love all the crew single or togeather , Great Video, Rock On ♡♡
Um.....the band - vince = great I think Vince mastered the art of missed cues slurred words and the inability to breath. Maybe Vince was only in it for the chics and drugs while the rest of the band has pride in their playing ability.
mjs28s - Vince was a great frontman and very good signer in his prime, he had the range and hit some serious 1980's hair metal high notes and he sang with feeling. His daughter died from cancer as a child which was around the time the bad separated and arguably the end of Motley Crue's prime. He never returned to his peak form but that could definitely be due to never really recovering from that heartbreak.
Amazing video. Keep up the good work. Vince Neil seems like he can’t perform these types of songs anymore. Home sweet home and without you are definitely his strengths these days.
Love all the other Motley Crue favorites as well : Grills Grills Grills, She's Got The Cooks that Grill, Get a Piece of Your Sandwich, Cake's All I Need etc...
Well, coming into this, I felt like I wanted to rail on Vince’s performance, but I digress. Age. Age will sap that endurance right out of a man. Now Vince isn’t in the best of shape, but he went out there and sweat those lyrics onto that stage. Vocals is a tough spot for any singer in the game as long as these fellas.
Don't tell that to all the people on here that can sing better than Vince and there are a lot of them by the comments I have read. The man is singing his heart out here for the fans the band is smoking and who ever doesn't like it go watch bieber
Ok, Vince can't even sing a whole line without chopping up the lyrics. His vocals are all over the place. How can this vocal coach not tear Vince a new one??? I guess he doesn't want to risk his rep with people in the industry. Either way, Vince sounds terrible and the scantily clad background singers can't hide Vince's ineptness. Enjoy the money grab Vince.
Yes they are playing tight! Bands that improve with age and choose to live cleaner. I also would love to hear your take on Tom Keifer, Richie Kotzen and loved your Michael Sweet tribute!!
Man I love Montrose, their self titled album has always been at the top of my list. Rock Candy, Make It Last, Bad Motor Scooter... Ronnie and Sammy has such a great 70s rock sound. Great video man, glad to see another Montose fan!
Your voice and personality are so upbeat, you’re adorable🥺gotta respect how you didn’t absolutely tear Vince apart for his awful performance, it would take me so much self control😂
I was surprised by this review. I avoided the Crue live strictly because I couldn’t take Vince’s live vocals anymore and didn’t feel the exorbitant tix price for the final tour was worth it. They obviously still put on a great show. And your review was extremely positive. In saying that I’m kindof a hypocrite because I went and seen Van Halen a couple years ago and although Eddie Alex were still amazing DLR was beyond putrid and I basically got through the show by singing everything loud enough so I could block out his vocals! Lol 😂
Vince bashers... we all age but he runs that entire stage, the entire time at his age/weight!! He knows he doesn’t sound 23, because he’s not but he doesn’t cop out and use a track, so lighten up on the guy, he’s giving you the best he has, then some.
A lot of bands have the bass player writing and directing the songs...Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Metallica...to name a few. That's why they're on top
You do mention Sammy Hagar here and there, and in my opinion he's easily one of the most consistent singers in the last 40 yrs. bar none. Some bands have great singers but then again some singers make the band... Sammy falls into that category in my opinion. To this day his energy just amazes me. Thanks for letting me ramble all over your page. I suffer from mental illness and yer videos definitely make my days brighter. Once again, Godspeed Brother!
Ken: causally brings up “Kat Von D was one of my clients” Umm that’s pretty major Ken! Ken: encourages us to check out Montrose “My cousin Sammy Hagar was in a band....” Okay Ken, now you’re just flexing now cool you are! Cheers dude

@@kentamplin You got it. I appreciate the honesty about vocals, and bands. Keep up the great work.
👍👍👍
In the studio Vince Neil had a voice that is magical. Listen to "Too Fast For Love" or "Shout at the Devil" and be amazed.
Lol. Man, Vince Neil needs to go do some laps. He was out of breath the whole time.
Zaher Beaini if Pavoratti had to run from stage left to stage right like Vince did I guarantee Pavoratti would be sucking wind 💨 💨 🌬
Even Stephen Pearcy is doing better than him nowadays.
Yea seriously! Vince needs to get in shape and sing from his diaphragm instead of his throat.
Ken, you are very gracious. Keeping it classy, I dig it.
Thank you kindly!
Always appreciate your analysis. Keep it up!
Thanks, will do!😀
Can you please react to Vince Neil sounds like Bob Dylan??
Ok, Vince can't even sing a whole line without chopping up the lyrics. His vocals are all over the place. How can this vocal coach not tear Vince a new one??? I guess he doesn't want to risk his rep with people in the industry. Either way, Vince sounds terrible and the scantily clad background singers can't hide Vince's ineptness.
Enjoy the money grab Vince.
Oh man you reviewed a video I was laughing my arse off at a couple years ago. The comment section is hilarious.
he didn't say much about Vince he liked the stage what he isn't saying says it all
I don’t care what they do about Vince. These guys did big things. Bigger than most bands. And they are absolute LEGENDS!!
Wow this guy is related to Sammy Hagar and was asked to join motley that’s awesome
Thanks GFEAST!
My jaw dropped when I heard both of these bits! How incredible! Ken, you’ll probably never see this, but YOU are so talented! My goodness....🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Vince and Axle need to start a support group
😄
😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹
too bad vince drank himself to oblivion. you gotta be in shape for that gig
Great video man love your content your so down to earth and chill
Ken i love your little insights into the old days.please don't stop.
subbed,liked,and dinged.
Yes they are playing tight! Bands that improve with age and choose to live cleaner. I also would love to hear your take on Tom Keifer, Richie Kotzen and loved your Michael Sweet tribute!!
Tom Keifer's voice took a toll but I am glad he is back to singing
Tom Keifer had it bad, with the surgery and all, but the guy was a beast in the 80’s era.
"My cousin Sammy Hagar" bro what. Interesting
Metal Rebel- Yep
Vince sounds knackered, I think he's still capable but he needs to lose the timber.
@Daniel Osborne since is the only one still touring tho
Yeah...and a few less trips to the bar before he preforms...
Poor Vince man it hurts to watch performances like this but Vince got himself back in shape these days he’s been working hard to get healthy
Here's hoping!
😊😊😊
I was surprised by this review. I avoided the Crue live strictly because I couldn’t take Vince’s live vocals anymore and didn’t feel the exorbitant tix price for the final tour was worth it. They obviously still put on a great show. And your review was extremely positive. In saying that I’m kindof a hypocrite because I went and seen Van Halen a couple years ago and although Eddie Alex were still amazing DLR was beyond putrid and I basically got through the show by singing everything loud enough so I could block out his vocals! Lol 😂
4:33, you can literally see the wheels turning in Ken’s head. 😂
The diplomacy processor was being taxed at that moment, somewhat.
Vince bashers... we all age but he runs that entire stage, the entire time at his age/weight!! He knows he doesn’t sound 23, because he’s not but he doesn’t cop out and use a track, so lighten up on the guy, he’s giving you the best he has, then some.
Good point, Leslie!
A lot of bands have the bass player writing and directing the songs...Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Metallica...to name a few. That's why they're on top
You were too easy on VInce. Bad notes everywhere
Ken: causally brings up
“Kat Von D was one of my clients”
Umm that’s pretty major Ken!
Ken: encourages us to check out Montrose
“My cousin Sammy Hagar was in a band....”
Okay Ken, now you’re just flexing now cool you are! Cheers dude
You were right about the intro to Kick-start My Heart! Interesting and nice to know!
Mr Ken Tamplin you sir is a true gentle man great song writer brilliant guitar player and a precise vocalist
