  • Former shipbuilder Donnie Taylor spoke out Thursday morning at Province House (Nova Scotia's Legislature) at a press conference calling for a full comprehensive ban on the import, export and use of asbestos in Canada.
    Don had worked at the Halifax Shipyard from 1969 onwards, and was exposed to asbestos while working as a sheet metal worker on dozens of ships. He has since lost 40 percent of his lung capacity due to asbestos.
    Donnie was joined by Nova Scotia New Democratic Party (NSNDP) health critic Dave Wilson and Canadian Labour Congress Atlantic Regional Director Alex Furlong at the press conference this morning.
