The "bait collection" segments help keep it real. Every big one you land serves as motivation to get out, and get down, with the local fauna that's not commercially available. 🐚🐚🐚

We call those fiddlers China backs because of the purple pottery like markings. Those are monsters! Keep the ones you do not use and freeze them in a freezer bag. They still work almost as good as fresh. I leave the large claw thinking it makes Sheepshead bite harder, but maybe I should take them off. They bite super soft at the Charleston jetties. You have to have ESP to catch the damn things. ;D In the winter I do well with live shrimp for convict fish. I use very little weight and right near the rocks.
Seriously I swear you have a fishing horseshoe in your pocket. Love your fishing trips.

Most all of us learn as a kid with freshwater perch. They bite constantly consistently. Saltwater a bit different. I know saltwater canals that have tons of hardhead catfish that take the bait within one second every time. Garbage fish or not with kids lack of knowledge in this case is bliss. Learning the basics is exactly the same sport/game/or trash fish.

Blackfish are one of the best eating fish in the water. Way better than reds or sheephead. Too bad they are not bigger. You sure do put a lot of work into one fish. FYI oyster toad fish (dogfish)are very edible as well. Never tried a lizard fish but they are clean water fish and they only eat live food. In St.Pete, FL I caught one that was 19 inches long, so I know they get big enough.

Hey I'm wondering, are the sheep heads' up where you are because they are a migratory fish? This is actually the first I've ever heard of the species. This has to be the first time that I actually even heard of the species called sheepshead. I wasn't doing a lot of fishing for the past 5 years, but started to get psyched up again to do it after I had a couple of operations for stuff like back operation and hip replacement. Now I want to get out of this house and fish so badly you can't believe it! However I've been seeing the sheepshead aren't around here anymore I'm in Florida. Or they're not as prevalent I should say. Just curious. I'm getting as much information as I can, I want to do pretty much what you guys do for a living. And I think I can do it. It's very interesting to me, and I don't mind putting up with a lot of bull cuz I'm pretty much of a bullsh**er at times myself! I don't think it will be easy, but I have determination and I think that plus perseverance, I think it will be very opportune for me. Wife's a little concerned about how long it would take to make any money from, but I think I still want to make it a go at it. Thanks for all you've been doing, I'm getting a lot of good tips. God bless you and all you do!
