I have a pro account and have been waiting for a while to be able to export parts to 3mf files. Just saw that appears to be possible with this update. Do I have to activate this option or will it automatically appear with the update ? Thanks !
When will you add 4 axis hot wire foam cutting to Fusion 360? I've been requesting it for several years. I expect you'll just ignore this comment like my requests
This isn't something that is currently prioritized, that said it doesn't mean it is not a good idea. Sadly, the job of product management is to say no to a lot of good ideas and yes to a few.. Your request is a great idea, it just hasn't made it to the top of the priority list. What you may be able to do in the meantime if use the 5X swarf toolpath and limit the motion to 4X, you could also look at using the 4X wrapping option in 2D contour to produce the motion you want. Each of these options would require post customization to get code to your machine. I know this isn't the answer you want, that said, I hope it is a help.
@@PM.al.whatmough Thanks for your reply and I'll take a look. I have been developing a post-processor based on the grbl laser just to copy the XY to UZ axis. This seems to work but it will only do parallel cuts. I understand that foam cutting is a bit niche and may never get prioritized. Thanks for your suggestions
@@PM.al.whatmough Foam cutting may not be that much of a priority, but my understanding of what Keith is asking for is essentially the same as wire EDM. I currently use 2D profile with a water jet tool to program our wire cutter. It would be awesome to be able to do a separate upper and lower contour.
@@PM.al.whatmough have you ever used a high end cam package before, most all high end cam packages support form tools on the lathe because not all lathe tooling are insert type tooling or boring bars. lots of company's sell specialized ground tooling for irregular type cuts that can only be done with a form style tool. take a look at "Internal Tool" they have a large number of tools for turning that you cannot recreate in fusion. and I have a number of tools like this which forces me to hand write a lot of code when I want to use one of these tools and I would rather CAM it if possible
@@lsxconcepts5125 this is really what I was digging at. People as for customer turning tools there are two types of requests. 1) Non-ISO standard shape tools and then tools that are truly form tools. In the middle, there is what might be a hybrid in the sense that the cutting portion of the tool is standard but the non-cutting portion of the tool is not. we have a lot of work to still do on this.
Please, find a solution for hobbyists. Or at least for youtubers. I am a hobbyist and youtuber and make videos about the things that I create with fusion360 including tips and workarounds. Since you changed the personal edition to lock 5 axis and probing my life got black and white. I was designing a very affordable and precise DIY probe and I was going to share in the community but now I did not even get the chance to learn how to use the probe in fusion 360. Same thing for 5 axis machining. I have a 4th axis in a very small cnc that I homemade and I was designing a 5 axis cnc. I never even used the 4th axis yet. Now I will never be able to use it as I don't profit from my hobby projects at all and cannot afford a subscription as it does not make sense to pay for making hobby parts that will be for my personal use. I am a creator and hobbyst. My professional work is not even merely related to cad/cam as I own a small computer store and sell IT services for small companies. This is just a hobby that I dreamed of.
They found a solution. You no longer matter as they got the free beta testing and bug reporting they were after. Now it's time to squeeze every nickel they can until someone else comes along to take their user base.

What would you want to be able to do with the form tool? Just pungle to produce a custom detail or drive a roughing strategy?
