The very first thing that should be done, or i would do i should say, is maybe a few days blackout but definitely reduce your lighting photoperiod to 8 hours and intensity to 50% then turn white, warm white, red and green to 0%. Testing could be misleading as most of the nutrients are bound up in the substrate and algae itself.

Just wanted to say I appreciate you sharing these videos! I know it can be very discouraging dealing with these challenges, especially so many in succession in the last several months. Showing your progress working through them helps show the reality of fish keeping, the ups and downs!

Relaxing on the maintenance is a peril right enough. If it was pizza boxes on your floor you'd be compelled to sort it eventually but because it's stuff in your water that you can't see you think it's okay to leave it a bit longer but often it is not.

Great video again buddy 👍 you have answered my questions many thanks and wish you luck.
I have just had my own problems of hair algea because I missed two water changes due to a unexpected event.
I have just upped my water changes and been questioning if I was winning. I then brought a gold bar benny and that was the best money I have spent, algea eating mechine. I dont like to use products I like to balance my systems and find the solutions.

What's up G. Yeah right now I have a hair algae problem, but most of my corals are doing good. I think my sea urchin really helps. I see less hair algae. It mostly grows on the sand bed now.

Thanks for sharing. You are spot on about zero nutrients. I let mine get to undetectable and got dino's, got get of that then I got cyano, ugh. There has to be a less stressful hobby, I'm thinking sky diving?

@@EverydayAquarist white spots never reappeared before using protozin, but fish were still flashing! For how long should I continue dosing protozin?

Really glad I stumbled upon your channel btw. (looking for info on canister filters and marine tanks...). Seems like a great resource!

Great vid. I’d rather see realistic tank with realistic trials and tribulations over someone’s fantasy tank facade 👍

A slow and gradual fix is always better than a quick fix which ends up being a temporary thing rather than a fix.
