Kirk hammet often plays penatonic minor scale so your removing 2 notes including the raised 2nd so the b minor penatonic and the e minor penatonic cover the same notes.

I guess it makes sense given youre trying to front what youve changed the most, the guitar riffs and solo. But the drum section on the Fade to Black solo is probably my favorite (and I would argue the best) Lars fills of any Metallica song. The driving double base through the whole back half just really accelerates the feel of the solos nicely. Would love to see a version of this with perhaps a more neutral mixing.
I play this in D standard because my Floyd Rose is tuned for Death and I'm too lazy to grab something a half step down. It sounds pretty wicked in C sharp!

yeah. It is as if you got a really truly great cover which we rarely get. It is on the one hand absolutely stays true to the original and on the other hand nevertheless gives it a new perspective. Love this new wave of metallica reimaginings and interpretations of late by the help of all these technologies.

Just remember to increase the string gauge as you tune down, otherwise it'll end up sounding weird.
a few years ago I tried Drop C because I wanted to play I'm the Mountain by Stoned Jesus... and never got back in E standard
