The "human nature" argument is actually pretty absurd. Totally... Well, moronic. There are too many variables that must considered. It depends on the person, the situaton... First, you are thinking only for west. What if a child in Somalia gain powers? What if he or she or they is an Eskimo, a homeless romanii girl, a chinese farmboy... Or someone from a tribe deep in the amazon or somehwere in the Australian outlands? My thoughts will probably to get some cash, but it's not that easy. Maybe in a comic it is, but not in reality. Are you inmune to bullets? If you are not, you "crime spree" will be very short lived, cops are not as useless as in the superhero movies. And if you are, what else are you inmune to? Superman and that lot seems to be vulnerable to gas. Tear gas will put you in your kness. Because real live is complicated. What if your powers are in like in the protector movie? Those are superpowers, but aren't that impressive. Certainly not enough to avoid detention.
