    Folk group Sheevón, perform the popular traditional song ‘Lanigan’s Ball’ on stage at Dublin’s National Stadium in September 1985. This concert was recorded by RTÉ Television and broadcast as part of the ’Festival Folk’ series the following year.
    Founded by Harald Juengst in 1981, Sheevón are a German based folk group. The band’s name is derived from the Irish name Siobhán.
    The six-member group is comprised of musicians from Germany, Holland and Ireland. Between them they play guitar, mandolin, fiddle, dulcimer, flute, bouzouki, mouth organ, tin whistle, bodhrán and pipes. Their repertoire consists of both Irish and German traditional music.
    ‘Festival Folk’ broadcast a series of concerts from the National Stadium featuring well-known folk singers and musicians.
    This episode of ‘Festival Folk’ was broadcast on 3 February 1986.
