Hey just wanted to say thank you for this video. I stumbled upon it while researching the ADG (which I remember being able to order in 2018 for only $400) but it was your message about publishing and independent collaborations that really got my attention. I am in the process of getting back into remote production work and have seen it starting to develop into something much more than I could've ever expected. I am looking forward to hearing your content on publishing work. Thanks again and subbed!
Thanks so much for the sub! I truly appreciate it. I'm so glad you found the video useful, I have a song coming up on a Netflix show in about a week with a different artist so I'll see if I can further the discussion around publishing/licensing around that here soon.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! In this case, slowing the release way down was a big part of smoothing out the pumping that normally comes with all buttons in.
There was a noticeable difference but I wouldn't necessarily consider one better than the other, just different. I think the Antelope is a great interface and the best bang for your buck as long as you don't need it to perform automatic delay compensation(for instance using hardware insert during a mix). It never does that properly with any consistency. If you are using hardware inserts, the 2 interfaces I've used that always work properly are Avid and Lynx.
@@SeawellStudios I have two HDi/o and running out I/o. Someone mentioned that Antelope has fixed all that issues but I don’t know how true that is. But I really appreciate your response. Thanks a lot 🙏🏾
@@OfficialAlexZitto yeah I would be very careful with Antelope and Pro Tools. I owned a Orion 32 HD and the Galaxy 64(twice). Worked with Antelope support a ton, it just simply does not work in the way that Avid and Lynx interfaces do.
Thank you very much! The main vocal effect was a Lexicon PCM 70(custom Large Hall setting). Delays were a Yamaha SPX 90ii and a TC Electronic D Two(for the longer throw delays). Thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment!
That's a really well compressed vocal track Josh!!! I like the intimacy, articulation and presence of it. It sounds upfront and very clear. Reverb was nice too, do you remember what preset it was??? All buttons in sounds great on snares and room mics, also many radio stations use it for that overcompressed radio broadcast sound. I think Distressors and SSL LMC could produce a similar sound.
Thank you Elias! I used all outboard effects on this one. The main vocal reverb is a PCM 70(custom large hall setting I made to emulate a 480L). The other two reverbs were a PCM 80(Rich Plate) and a PCM91(Rich Chamber). The delays were a couple of TC Electronic DTWO. Chorus was the Symphonic Patch on the Yamaha SPX 90 ii.
I totally stole those 3 style of reverbs from Andy Wallace 😁. After hearing the album "Grace" by Jeff Buckley I had to give it a try and it has definitely worked well! He explains it really well on Mix With The Masters. I really like how he will blend the plate, chamber and hall to create something very unique.
hey, if you ever need an artist to write a rap or pop record for you for sync, i would love to do so! i’ve written a few songs for sync since 2020 with BAM music, and would like to get further in the sync world!
Can I ask you, how was your experience working with Stam? How was the wait time? Import/export fees and or taxes? Ive never ordered gear internationally because of fear of the fees and customs, but I think Stam makes great stuff
I bought this particular compressor second hand on reverb. I bought a few items directly from Stam early on but I'm not a good candidate for the pre-order model, I lose my patience way too quickly 😁 . I've found it better for me personally to buy through Stam dealers on reverb or second hand. When I did buy directly from Stam, there weren't any additional import or customs fees. They do make amazing gear though so I think it's worth the effort to get some in person and try it out if you're interested!
Awesome! Another thing worth noting is that multiband compressors cause phase shift at the corner frequencies, and it's a permanent thing. That might add to the perception of a vocal as flat. Also, which revision on the ADG did you use?

@@SeawellStudios awesome! I look forward to it! It’s definitely a fascinating subject and congrats on the Netflix production. 😊
Sounds fantastic!
Thanks my friend!
That vocal 🤯 You are amazing !
😘
Thanks for sharing. Never realised all buttons in could retain the softness and be so smooth. Sounds really big. Amazing!

Awesome voice, pristine sound ❤
Thanks for sharing 👌🏼

Woawww, nice voice ! Can we know also the mic used in it ?
Kendra records her vocals with a Neumann TLM 103. Thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment!
Hi Josh, I have a question about the Antelope galaxy 64. Was there any sonic differences between the avid HD i/o and the galaxy 64? Thanks

Love that song. Easy to assimilate. Dig the vocal effect - verb/delay? & the implementation to the visual track

@@SeawellStudios Thanks for all the details!!! That reverb blend sounded very spacious and expensive, I see you devoted a lot of attention to it.

@@SeawellStudios 👍👍 Can't beat Lexicon hardware of that vintage.
Great vocal sound, you all nailed it. Just wondering what the mic & preamp were on that occasion ?

WOW!!!!!!
Amazing piece of gear you made my friend!
MK2 on the works!!, I think we are going crazy with this one@@SeawellStudios

Great point, thanks for sharing! I used Revision A on the ADG.
👏👏👏
Thank you!
