    Happy for you that the walk is bringing some clarity to you. I think you already help more people than you know by sharing your adventures; but you could do more by giving tips or instructions on HOW for people with less experience than you. I like the other comments on sharing how to start as a vegan / vegetarian, as I think it is hard to know what to cook and without too many weird ingredients when you have been a meat eater. I am sure you will figure something out ❤

    100% Galicia is the most stunning part of the Camino. (In fact some parts are just 'ok') but Galicia is like stepping back in time to how Spain used to be. Then the walk from Santiago to Finisterre is mind-blowing. Hope to walk again next October.

    Bonjour Crystal! Im 55 and on April will do the camino grandes alone like you, is it safe for woman alone, what is your experience about that, is it true that there is assaults on woman , have you heard or see that, and when you alone in the forest, do you go or wait for pilgrims? Thant you ! and just love follow you.

    • @vanhallaadventures
      @vanhallaadventures  Год назад +1

      Great question. I can not speak to the statistics because I do not know them but I can say I felt VERY safe on the Camino. I felt more safe in Spain on the Camino than walking in any major city in the USA. I never felt nervous except on one occasion where I could hear dogs barking very loudly in the morning (it was only 5am) so I waited for more pilgrims and asked if I could walk with them until I passed the area. The wild dogs were a minor concern for me but that is so rare anyways. I would 100% walk this again alone.

      Así es, ya estoy un poco cansado que consideren que tenemos la obligación de hablarles en inglés en nuestro propio país y que se sorprendan de que no lo hablemos. Es como si nosotros fuéramos a EEUU y les forzáramos a hablar en español. Un poquito de humildad nunca va mal.

    • @vanhallaadventures
      @vanhallaadventures  Год назад

      I think you are misunderstanding. I never said anyone needs to speak English nor do I feel they have to in Spain or any other country. It is just easier when they do (for me and other English speakers) which is an entirely different statement. English and Mandarin are the most widely spoken languages in the world but that doesn't mean people have to speak it. My Spanish is just not good enough to have an entire conversation - working on it little by little through experiences like this as it's a beautiful language and country. Buen Camino.

    • @josesoria5446
      @josesoria5446 Год назад

      @@vanhallaadventures I did not want to be offensive with you at all, but this is something that happens with English and American people in too many times. Only in one matter I disagree with you, Spanish is the second worldwide lenguaje out of mandarin spoken by native people (not English) and, as you, i do not think this has to be something to force anyone not Spanish speaker to speak Spanish. We agree on this.
      By the way, forget this small criteria’s difference, I love your videos, thanks for sharing and for your beautiful comments about my country. Appreciate. Regards

      Hostels and alburgues have private rooms and many pilgrims stay in them. Everyone experiences the spirit of the camino differently and lodging will never take way nor make it more spiritual - it is really in the perspective and intention in my opinion.

    I thought it was only me. I walked 52 miles in 24 hours; as-good-as non-stop. Know what I felt at the end of it? Know how I felt when I realised the distance I had covered? Disappointment. Disappointment in myself. I didn't, and I don't backpack to race. To rush in one direction. That is what city living is all about. So I slowed down. I just amble now. At my pace, and with my head clear of commitments and schedules and ambition, I just simply amble. Just after the twelve minute mark you said that Santiago was just five days away, but you were going to stretch it to two weeks. And that is how it should be. There is a video on RUclips of a young couple who covered St. Jean to Roncesvalles in seven hours! Every day they seemed to break records . Yet they were travelling so hard, and so fast, that they met no one. Made no friends - no matter how fleeting. Had no long, drunk conversations; met no one for an evening meal. They had no particular memories ( I suspect ) of any place for they didn't ' Do a Davies' and ' Stop and stare'. As far as I am concerned walking the Camino in eight weeks as apposed to the usual 4-5 weeks should be the new norm. I Will watch the whole of your journey on Christmas day. So thank for an unexpectedly relaxed day Crystal.
