I'm pretty pleased with the Lionchief line and how Lionel has improved them over the last nearly 10 years. Great starter kits for anyone getting into the hobby. Extremely reasonable priced as well. Whether it's the Sante Fe Super Chief, Polar Express, or whatever gets them into the hobby, the Lionchief is a fantastic entry point.

I bought this set 2 years ago and the 2 add on cars. It’s one of my favorites. I have 3 loops on my layout and it’s almost always on one of the 3. FYI it will work on tubular 0 27 track corners no problems no marks. Nice gift for your son. Thanks for sharing.

Can't go wrong with Santa Fe! Awesome set Chris. The conductor and announcer sounds were pulled directly from the Santa Fe Post War Celebration Stationsounds Diner which are really top notch in my book.

Wow Chris .. I remember my dad and mom got me a train set ..Am Flyer for Christmas (Santa) and I was too young to know so they packed it away and I got it a year later even forgetting Santa brought it last year. I loved it and played with it for many hours. Its what started me. I think he really bought it for himself . His dad was a RR worker on making up freight trains in the yards. Went to working a suit jacket. I would have loved to have that set back then. I think you are starting new modelers...great
