    There is an alternative way to help disabled and retired American citizens would be to pass legislation to reduce the cost of living by federal mandated Rent and Price controls on everything thing across the economic spectrum.

    Andrew What we need is a Social Security Lobby that will strike fear in the hearts of anti Social Security politicians,if they are deemed uncooperative in expanding increasing how the Cola is Calculated to be a benefit to disabled and retired seniors. They need to fear the loss of their political careers if they are consider as enemies of Social Security. Such a Lobby could be born out of the Senior Citizens League or ARRP or created independently. A Group out to destroy the political careers of anti Social Security politicians out to cut and abolish the Social Security program. Plus threaten with moves to get a measure on the 2024 national ballot to strip them of their Government Pensions and Retirement benefits,then force them to depend on Social Security and Medicare with the rest of the U.S. Population. Then transfer all their government pension fund into the Social Security Trust fund.

    I only got a total increase for bothy SSI and SSD retirement of $73.00 ..... How is that 8.7 % cuz I was getting $861.00 in 2022 and now I'm getting 943.00 in 2023 dang don't help much

    • @rosaliethomson4655
      @rosaliethomson4655 Год назад

      SS is what you paid in. SSI is welfare. You got 8.7% of $861.00 = $74.90 $861.00 + $74.90 = $935.90. You do not get a cola on welfare. SS is a retirement system.
      Just like every other retirement system, you get paid on what you made. So, with the cola, you lost SSI.
