@william16339 i'm not sure about how the 300ex carrier is made, but the carrier that i installed on the 250r it has a grease fitting on it so you can grease it with a grease gun
@william16339 you could litley grease the out side of the carrier so it will slide in easier but i didnt want to the grease attracks dirt and it would get drown in there just from riding, the bearings inside the carrier are sealed bearing and dont require greasing but you could litley grease the axle so it will slide in easier also. thanks for watching
yes, you can add a lite coat of grease or anti seize it will help the installation and the removal of the carrier into the swing arm easier and make it rotate easier as well, the reason for rotating the carrier is that is what tightens or loosens the chain. the bolt in the center should be loosened along with the allen headed bolts before rotating the carrier inside the swing arm. but the bolt in the center pretty much just helps lock the stock carrier in place along with the allen bolts. hope this helps
***** the brake stay is different from the 85 to 86, if you have the 85 brake stay and the matching caliper it wont match up to the 86 swingarm and vis versa, the brake stays are different and the caliper mounting holes match up different on the the swing arm. if you can find some pictures and look at the difference between the two that will help you under stand what im saying better, good luck thanks

no there isnt i just happen to buy the 86 swingarm instead of the 85 at the time by accident so thats what i used
dont u hav to greece the carier be4 u put thecarier in????? idk i forgot how to do this,,,,and do u take the barings out and pack them?
Is there any significant advantage to having an 86 swingarm? i have an 85 and it needs a new carrier and front swingarm bushings.

You can put 1985 rear brakes on a 1986 swingarm so long as you have the correct brake stay?
