Seo Taiji handpicked BTS himself to remake this song and perform with him at his 25th anniversary concert! The BTS boys were his "kids" during the concert and did an amazing job. Also Seo Taiji thaught them all the choreo personally himself! He said BTS are his successors! Also the boys call Seo Taiji dad and he calls BTS his sons😂 It's really cute~

what i like the most about this project is that seo taiji handpicked bts for it *before* bts actually blew up into huge success. it's a work that came out in 2017 and seo taiji asked them before the whole bbmas/love yourself project catapulted them into huge success. so i appreciate that such an iconic musician saw the potential in them for real and not just asked them bc they were blowing up commercially. he said a lot of encouraging things to them, "passing the torch down to them in the new generation" and it made me proud a lot.
I believe Seo Taejin specifically approached BTS because he felt they were the only ones who could do justice to a remake. On your own time, watch him perform with BTS live on the 25th Anniversary special and BTS alone on their 4th Muster.

Like you..knowing the original version (I was in Korea when SeoTaeJi debuted and remember when this song came out)..I think BTS really did this song justice...and I believe SeoTaeJi said something to that effect as well. I loved watching him perform this with BTS as well during his 25th anniversary.

This was one of the very first songs of BTS that I ever heard and I had no clue that it was a remake of an older song and it blew me away. I looooove this song so much.
Back then, as a non kpop and fetus BTS fan, I didnt like this song at all at first haha. It wasnt my type of music. I listened to zero hiphop and rap before BTS, and now I freaking love and respect it so much, thanks to the soulfulness and passion of the rapline. What really got me into this song was their live performance of it. Its badass x 1000
burningSunset78 Oh, me too! I don't really like rap before BTS, but now I can little bit understand their soul. What I like from this song is just like Jino said, they doesn't change much of the song, but they inject passion which is authentic for them. I know STJ is happy with this version, hence he invited them on his 25th anniversary concert.

The first time I heard this song it was the BTS remake and I was OBSESSED with it. I couldn't stop replaying it, I honestly thought and still think it's a masterpiece and was surprised when I learned just how old the original is, so it's pretty safe to say that it holds up extremely well 🙌 I'm thankful to Seo Taiji for the music he made and how it inspired and influenced BTS too

This remix never fails me. This has sat on my daily rotation of BTS' songs ever since I've found it. I love everything about this song, the beat, the way they sing/rap, the lyrics. Love the live version too.
As a person who hadn't heard the original song before hearing this, i really really loved it. It feels like hip hop mixed with aggressive despairing intensity and the rap styles and lyrics just blew me away. It's slightly old school without actually being old school and almost everyone who hears it likes it. I've actually used it to introduce bts to many people and it works well!
The song was put on Seo Taiji's 25th anniversary album tho. So it's not exactly intended for BTS fans / Army. The song was mainly intended for Seo Taiji fans. Aka people who already know the song. It's like a cool retelling of an old song. He had a whole bunch of other artists remake his other songs on the album as well. So yeah the main target group with this remake for sure wasn't Army... I mean it was just a big honour for BTS and they performed it once at their fanmeetings last yr and that's it.

As far as the observations, nice info on the pronunciation. I hadn't paid attention to it but it does add the the feel of the song and is and importsnt piece of the song. The pause towards the end after the build up would have been a good effect I agree. AWESOME reaction !! I really enjoyed it!

Come Back Home was probably my favorite release of that year and I listened to it on repeat. It probably has a lot to do with where I was in life, lol. But yes, I LOVE how Bts has a particular "sound," not matter what song they are covering or what genre of music they try. When I listen to some kpop groups, I feel like they are still looking for their sound and don't know what it is. They try to just throw whatever sounds popular or trendy, but without making it THEIRS. That's something that definitely stands out about BTS: they know who they are and what they want.

As someone who hadn't seen the original, I really liked it. I didn't find the "comeback home"s to be repetitious but instead found them to be a driving force that also grounded the song. I have found small things that I love in each of the four versions (Seo Teiji's original, his 25th anniversary live performance with BTS, the MV, and BTS Muster live performance) and find I can't choose my favorite. When comparing the original video with this MV I am amazed at how they Incorporated elements from both groups so seamlessly. BTS does an awesome job making something unique theirs while also giving massive respect to original creators (like they also did with Singing In The Rain for Boy With Love MV)

Ee!!! I love this song so much. When I first listened to it, I had only just started getting into bts, but I wasn't a Kpop fan either. This is one of the songs that really drew me in... I loved that it had an old school feel while sounding new and powerful too. I didn't find out until later that this was a remix of a much older song.
It made me admire them that much more when I learned who Seo Taiji is and that he himself requested for BTS to remake his song. He has said that BTS reminds him of himself with how they have always been trying to speak to and for the youth through their music. That he has handed the torch down to BTS... What an honor!

One of my favorite BTS songs. Like you I kept repeating the rap lines. The chorus gets a little long and repetitive, I like your idea of increasing the drama and tension with a cut of silence before climax. It's awesome because of the rap.
