  • Alex walks you through the chassis of our most recent batch of Quarry Hunslet 'Alice' locomotives. This 5" gauge locomotive is popular amongst beginners and it's small compact design makes it easy to handle.

I can't believe a brand new machine gets treated like this.

It has been run by the factory before this running, checked mechanically and oiled extensively, we wouldn’t run a freshly build untested chassis at these speeds.

And people will run them at stupidly fast speeds so it doesn’t really matter

How do you oil the valve gear once the boiler is on?

Why dont you get to build the chassis as part of the kit?

Valve timing is a pain to do, and people getting into 5" Gauge with this loco probably aren't capable of doing it right.

What kind of tools do I need to complete an Alice kit? I've got the usual hand tools, but nothing for machining or silver soldering.

I really don't like those displacement lubricators that do not have a sight glass in the cab and they do not work on compressed air!
