It's very useful to hear the thought processes involved and actions required, rather than simply watching the journey on many similar videos. Thank you for posting.

No we just steer away from them as they are notoriously temperamental and as a starter loco its good for you to see/hear the pump working! you could fit one if you wanted to but it is a saddle tank so the water will get to hot so you would need an external water supply!

@0812201 Yes everything is possible but it would cost a premium! the safety valves are real but you could replace them with pop ups!

just little thing never turn the blower all the way off because it creates an draft up through the fire to create steam and keep the fire bars from getting damages if you turn the blower all the way off it can cause damage like the fire bars distorting then you have to take it apart to put a new one in

Thats not strictly true though, exhaust steam is sufficent for keeping a draft over the fire when running. Only use the blower when you need to, IE when your low on steam.

I’m assuming you mean fire grate not fire bars and that is the case on full scale locos I learnt that the hard way but on a 5 gauge loco or similar size it’s not really an issue at all

How much blower do you recommend for sitting and not running for long periods?

you should do how to light your loco? How to maintain your loco? How clean you loco after a run?

so do u need a live steam gardem train lisens or do u not need 1 to drive a little train like that do u have to keep the train in tip top shape likes grece the wheels claen the firebox and everthing how much does it cost to get a train like that

Great videos- how often do you have Alice in steam? I hope to own a 5" scale garden railway one day but I'm afraid of the costs.

Is the price the for 4.75"gauge the same as 5"gauge for all your engines ?

what does it mean to draw the fire? Or in other words, what does the blower do and how does it work?

    • @28RailwayVideography

97trainman The blower makes the fire hotter making pressure quicker
