More like 99.9%, actually. There are some places in this, and other "side by side" videos, where it switches between Marc and Freddie and you can't tell who is singing unless you're watching the screen. Some of the difference is also due to the digital technology Marc records with now, compared with the analog recordings of 40 years ago.
The Real O'Donovan Marc has a sharper tone, and his stomach voice isn’t as deep and thick as Freddie’s. His range is also lower. I’d say Marc’s voice is reminiscent of early 70s Freddie more

@@odonovan that's an incredible overstatement. Yes, Marc sounds astonishingly a lot like Freddie but no, to the trained ear and Freddie fan you can quite easily hear the differences, especially in timbre.

I would love for him to be the lead singer. He is not replacing freddie. People have an emotional connection to Freddie’s voice and all he would be doing is bringing that connection back
Marc has a great talent! And he doesn't copy Freddie, he is presenting his own version. you can tell the difference in the manner of singing. Freddie sings it kind of lighter and softer and gentle, especially hitting the high notes. Marc makes high notes strong and bright. Both versions are beautiful

Jypsea Simmons well they chose Marc to be the queen extravaganza lead singer which he was hand picked by roger I think. Plus he did some singing in the movie for where they needed him. So clearly they acknowledge he’s got something but I mean it’s beyond me why they just don’t have him instead of lambert.

because it was Brian and Roger's decision and we shouldve respect it.
Marc helped in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie tho and that's a cool thing.
Actually he participated in that Rogers's project called "Queen extravaganza", but I think he is not the new singer because the new Queen tries to sing the old songs but with a fresher tone, and for me it would be like almost a lack of respect if someone that sings like Freddie is in the stage with Queen, I would take it like he's trying to imitate him.
It would be awesome for us, as fans. But lemme think of it from their side as well. For them, Queen with Freddie was a family. This guy has so similar voice, sounds almost like Freddie. Freddie was a lot more for Roger, Brian and Deacon, than for Queen fans. Sure, we loved Freddie. But they knew him better than anyone and it would be very painful to hear his voice, yet know it's not him. I guess they had very hard time producing Bohemian Rhapsody, knowing that they're pretty much recreating almost every milestone until Live Aid in 1985. Marc Martel did few recordings for the movie, providing Freddie's vocals. Whenever you see Brian May or Roger Taylor talk about Queen, you can clearly see the pain they are trying to hide. Queen was a true family. Loss of their most important and beloved family member left huge mark. It was their decision. I guess that they would like to tour with Marc, but at the same time, they think it would be disrespectful to Freddie, and it would be very, very painful for them perform like that. Also, consider that the band age is quite advanced and they have to evolve in some way. Thinking that Smile would never become star band without Freddie, after Tim left their band. Or where would this band be if Tim decided to stay in Smile? Where it would be if Freddie didn't propose his vocals after Tim left? Think about that. Freddie did much more for Queen than many people think. Sure they wish Freddie was alive more than anyone else. But everybody knows there's no way to revive dead. Performing with Marc would be an equivalent of hearing a ghost. I wish that Marc performed with Queen, at least once, and forever captured on video. But after I think about that, I'm glad they refused. Let's put some empathy together and let it be.
Because they didn't want a new Freddie. They wanted a completely new person. It would be awkward to have someone like Freddie. That's like replacing him and noone can replace him😭

I love Marc. I have loved him since he was in the Christian band, Down Here. He sounds so much like our dear Freddie. I would go Queen in concert if Marc sang with them. To close my eyes and pretend I heard precious Freddie. I was 16 when dear Freddie died. It shattered my heart. I’m still not over it. I know Queen chose Adam, and yes I know why they said I did it. But I still wish they had chosen Marc. This made me cry.

@@MartelAndQueen and composing Love of My Life, and trying out for Brian and Roger's groups Smile, AND he recorded ALL of Wembley for them to mix in for when Freddie's voice cracked or went off key. So, practically the whole movie except when playing the studio audio. They just did a marvelous job of putting it all together, that is why they won an Oscar.

The only clear differences I can hear is Marc’s pronunciation and vibrato. Freddie’s is obviously more British and his vibrato is quicker.
(I may be speaking out of my ass on this point) Freddie sings with a more of a theatrical flare, while Marc leans a bit towards pop.
I don’t even think the differences are deliberate - it seems like this is just Marc’s natural style. Maybe he learned a bit from Freddie but there’s still room enough to differentiate the two, albeit with some focused effort ^_^
