For Austria today it would be Karl von Habsburg-Lorraine. Since 2007 he has been the head of the former imperial family and for France it is the two current pretenders to the throne, Louis Alphonse de Bourbon for the Legitimists and Jean d'Orléans for the Orléanists.
Enjoyed this video, as usual. A rare privilege to choose her own husband. Sad that it wasn't a "happily ever after" ending for them. Thank you for the lovely telling of her story.
I have never been a fan of Sissi. Still it is nice to learn about her children. These royals have been quite unknown to me. Thank for your video! I love the way you put so many photos there. 🥰
How nice to finally come across a person who was actually lovingly raised by her actual parent. At first I was confused about what relationship she had to the man she married because it initially sounded like he was her brother, but now I've learned that the grandsons of the Emperor were also Archdukes, so he was "only" her first cousin. Lovely biography as usual. 😊
@@TheKingsofFrance It was only $1.50 if I remember correctly but I didn't have any American cash and the store owner wouldn't accept Canadian money, or, as she said, "foreign money".
I will, but there's a lot to be said and I'm still contemplating on how I will make that video. I'm also preparing my videos for the summer holiday as I'll be on vacation for a while.
People say Marie-Valerie looked like Franz joseph, though i find Marie looking so much like her mother especially the eyes and face shape, Gisela looked alot like her father i think, she and Stephanie Berg ( Franz's illegtimate child ) look so much alike
Hi, awesome live history video I enjoyed it. How are you and cute Rani your cat doing? I'm doing well. My cat Benjamin says hi to you and cute Rani your cat. He sends his purrs. My cat Benjamin hates wearing sweaters in the winter. Does Rani your cat like wearing sweaters in the winter? We have great warm weather in Ontario Canada. How's the weather where you are? Have a great day see you next video 😊
Ohhhh Benjamin in a sweater, that must be SO very cute ! I wish I could see that ! He must be the cutest ever, all snug in his sweater. I have never put a sweater on Rani. I think I'd be killed by her murder mittens in the process !
Fun fact: in the southern victory series; the bitter United States joined the central powers and the confederacy jointed the allied powers. The central powers won the first world war; Karl had A long reign in that timeline.
Do the books also paint a scenario of what the world would've looked like if Hitler won WW2 ? Although obviously, if WW1 was won by Central Powers, WW2 would never have occurred.
@@TheKingsofFrance Oh, WW2 did happen in the books but not in the way you'll expect and Hitler did make A appearance in one of them but since the German empire never lost WW1; he never gets into politics.

Lady Amy Robsart the wife of Robert Dudley 1st Earl of Leicester, died from the same desiese as Marie Valerie. I refuse to believe Dudley killed her. BTW Queen Elizabeth's next favorite Robert Deveroux 2nd Earl of Essex was Dudley's step son. He was the son of his second wife Lady Lettyce Knollys,by her previous husband Walter Deveroux 1st Earl of Essex.
Sissi didn't want her own fate for this daughter. Thank you, Nieke, I really enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much for being here again Manuela !
Just watching "Marie Antoinette" on TV, so I have to watch "Marie Valerie" on my tablet. 🙂
Did you watch the movie with Kirsten Dunst ?
@@TheKingsofFrance Yes. Servus TV 20.15 h yesterday.
This makes me wonder who would be king of France and Emperor of Austria now, if they still had monarchies, or has the bloodline died out?

I see the question has already been answered. Thank you very much.

Marrying one's brother would take inbreeding one step too far, even for the Habsburg Dynasty lol.

I once found an old photo of her in an antique store deep in rural Vermont!
That's quite unique. I assume you bought it ? Or was it too expensive ?

J'adore! I've being waiting for this. I have to ask will you talk about her mother Sisi?
I will, but there's a lot to be said and I'm still contemplating on how I will make that video. I'm also preparing my videos for the summer holiday as I'll be on vacation for a while.
@The Kings of France And I do hope when you talk about Sisi you will at least mention her elder sister Elena Carolina Theresa (Nene).

I agree. Thanks for watching Kimberly !
Being royal doesn’t spare you from the same things ordinary people go through too 🤷🏻♀️
It definitely doesn't. Thanks for watching.
I love studying about the Austrian Empire, FUN FACT: If Marie Valerie was a boy, she would be called Stephen (Istvan in Hungarian)!

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see what.I can do.

She was quite good looking indeed. Thanks for watching.

Great job with the video. I have A question for you; what do you think about Peter III of Russia ? I feel sorry for him.
As always, difficult to answer. If history had not gone the way it has, we would never have known Catherine The Great...
