I don’t think people will be happy to hear that the hunter association is bringing unknown species that may extinct all of humanity to the islands. And plus we will probably hear those stories later in the anime/manga, hxh is not even close to being over.

Yup, only Madhouse. I only wish they dont stop animating seasons midway, like One Punch Man, they animated season1 but season 2 was animated by JC Staff which got many people dissapointed. Same with Seven Deadly Sin, Madhouse animated Season 1 and 2 but they didnt animate season 3 and studio dean animated it which made it trash especially the most anticipated fight Meliodas vs Escanor was ruined.

It's actually a great way to expand a universe without introducing aliens, spaceships or god powers like in Naruto. Naruto should have turned out to be just islands isolated form the world like Attack on Titan, but nah let's introduce godly species and space. Hunter x Hunter is a work of infinite potential, sadly even if the author was healthy he still might not end his work, so this either becomes a work of many authors or we will only see a story settled in this world, but not exploring it all. This should be new One Piece

The Chimera Ant Queen could very well be the reprecution and consequence of some unknown human explorer's journey to the Dark Continent. After all, we do see that the Ant Queen could perfectly understand Colt when he speaks the human language. How would she know, have she not been the product of a human prior to her birth.

unfortunately the mangaka doesn't care about HxH that much. If he truly cared about he would get someone else to to do the illustrations while he could just sit back and supervise over the dialogue. In fact many mangaka are already doing this, like Kishimoto(naruto), Akira(Dbs) ect and some of these mangaka are working on entirely different series. Not trying to be toxic but either he's too lazy or just doesn't care anymore

The dark continent is so fucking interesting. My mind was blown when i finally figured out that the ants weren't just an overly big type of ant from the dark continent, they were the exact size they should be. Yet Humans are that exact same size... Its truly insane when you figure that out. Think of an ant in our world. So small and fragile, yet able to lift so much more weight then they should. In hxh thats humans. Beings as small and insignificant as an ant. In the greater context of the world humans are almost nothing. Yet it gets even more interesting when you think. Even an ant from the dark continent is known as the strongest singular being yet to be encountered by humans in the series. That is truly fascinating...

BROCKLY As far as his powers and his use of Nen, Meruem is actually pretty boring. He doesn’t use his Nen ability in any way the could be described as clever, unique or creative. His strength and power is just REALLY great. And if you don’t get what I’m saying, compare that to someone like Hisoka who has Bungeegum and Texture surprise which are some of the most creative ways Nen is used in the series but isn’t nearly as powerful as Mereum
So basically, Dark Continent is full of SCPs.

I think what’s being forgotten about the beasts on the dark continent and hunters is that hunters are very well liked by animals. Ging was shown riding two giant beasts from the D.C., so it’s safe to assume Don has tamed even more impressive beasts.

A great thing about the dark continent is how it ties everything together- from the definition of Hunters at the very beginning of the series, to the chimera ants and Nanika. It cements a flow of the story, as well as giving us something to look forward to, rather than letting it die off in a whimper, after the absolute chaos that the Chimera Arc was.
I've only watched the anime, and the last arc felt a bit like trying to draw out a farewell after the finale that the ants were... That is, until Ging mentioned that continent. Suddenly, these last few episodes turned out to be a recoup phase, before jumping to the next, bigger thing that ties firmly both to Gon's original goal of finding Ging as well as the overarching plot of the Hunter association and humanity as a whole.
Given what you've said here that the Manga reveals, it also gives us a deeper meaning for why old man Netero resourced to using a freaking nuke on Meruem, even after he appeared to be mellowing out. Even at best, he was offering to create a "human preserve". Within what Netero knew was ALREADY the Human preserve. The Humans in HunterxHunter are in only slightly less grave a situation than the ones in Attack on Titan by the sheer fact of not being aware just how vulnerable they are.
Togashi made an interesting world is all I have to say.

Hunter x Hunters is such a beautiful anime. It truly is a masterpiece in every aspect of the word.
But what really grabs me about this anime is the lore. The untold mysterious of these powerful beings such as Beyond Netero, Zigg Zoldyc, Issac Netero, Killuas dad, Zeno and many more are among the most interesting pieces of legends that I have ever come across. Really no anime has been able to create this sense of awe and interest as HxH has for me.
...The Crazy Thing about the Dark Continent is,
once we know a part of it, we know all of it 'in a sense'.
What i mean with that is that this Place is beyond
Giant and you can make entire Ecosystems
and with that, entire Storys, playing on the Continent.
So you can make up all from the Weaklings all the way to
the Area-Lord, who governs the Eco-System there; all of it;
and it does not AT ALL bite or fight the Main-Story,
the actual Story with the Expedition-Team...

Whenever the dark continent is discussed I always remember Final Fantasy 3 and how it completely *BLEW* my mind when they revealed the whole world
To think that Linn, a gourmet hunter, went to the Dark Continent is a Toriko-level of insane. I wonder just how powerful of a hunter she is being able to reach Dark Continent with Netero and a Zoldyk. She's still alive in the manga, we've seen her during the Chairman election arc.

As much as I'm loving the succession war the overpowering shadow of mystery from the dark continent makes me wish we would be done with it
I am enjoying the Succession War arc as well... but jesus something needs to happen soon. The plot literally has not progressed for so damn long. I love all the new characters in addition to the conflicts of the main/known characters. But like you said, the DC is on everyone's minds and this succession war arc is taking a long time to get to its climax.
9:35 don’t forget that we saw a World Tree in the 2011 version of HxH at the beginning of the Greed Island arc when Gon and Killua are playing the audio recording of Ging as he rides on the back of the two beasts! Which leads me to believe that Ging actually travels freely to and from the Dark Continent!!
We should make a petition for Togashi to finish the story and let other artist draw it for him.

The Crazy Thing about the Dark Continent is,
once we know a part of it, we know all of it 'in a sense'.
What i mean with that is that this Place is beyond
Giant and you can make entire Ecosystems
and with that, entire Storys, playing on the Continent.
So you can make up all from the Weaklings all the way to
the Area-Lord, who governs the Eco-System there; all of it;
and it does not AT ALL bite or fight the Main-Story,
the actual Story with the Expedition-Team.
Once we get there, HxH will explode
and we might get LEGIT 1000 Sequels.

The revelation of the Dark Continent fits along with my personal headcanon that the hunterXhunter world is the result of the barrier between Demon World in human world coming down the end of Yu Yu Hakusho

the Calamity: Pap is what interests me the most. Second would be Brione. I was wondering why would the guide want them to bring a souvenir of those calamities? then it occured to me that they could use those "souvenirs" to find how to counter them for the next expedition.

The amount of exposition in this arc is absurdly immense. What ungodly writing skills it will have to take to make each puzzle piece play its part perfectly throughout this story, and I think Togashi is the only man to do it. If he stops playing Dragon Quest.

1 a month means 12 chap a year, with 1 break it means 11 a year = around 1 volume a year
that's what he's doing actually but without a strict schedule ,
since 2007 which means in 13 years , 13 volumes have appeared
for example in 2017 he released i think 11 chapters
in 2018 he released 20 chapters that's why he's skipping 2019, he will probably do another 10 chapters in 2020
if he keeps things like this we can have a proper anime adaptation by 2024 - 2025

Shane K. While the other guy is being a dick about it at the same time he isn’t wrong. I don’t understand why Togashi himself has to draw and ink his own manga when his wife is an accomplished mangaka and, even if she wasn’t, you could get someone else to actually draw the manga.
While his health concerns are probably really serious and yes that should take precedence, I just find it funny that he’s healthy enough to knock out enough chapters to bank off the volume sales.

HunterXHunter is, and always has been, Togashi's story and *only* Togashi's story. The second he brings in help, that changes and there's no going back.
If he’s able to survive the monsters on the dark continent then Don Freeces is most certainly still alive probably using nitro rice and other magical items to extend his life. Also gaseous life form Ai “Aye” looks a lot like Nanika just sayin
The only thing you should know about the dark continent is that we are never getting there in our lifetime. They would have to put togashi's brain in a machine for him to finally continue the series in the year 2200.

Had to watch it twice, such a great video! The dark continent is my favorite anime mystery. Considered to me many times larger than the known world yet we only know of less than 10 species

i love the fact that hunter x hunter in its later years goes back to its roots, after the license exam we kinda did move away from the premise of the show as exploration and learning about different creatures like the spirit beast and different weird animals that brought up during the exam. with the nen being explained and how it works and how it should be used i think it's great that the story doesn't revolve around it anymore.
now it's more on a larger scale and kinda reset what we know how the hxh world works. but still subplots and past story lines are still carried off seamlessly. i'm interested at the what beyond is really after . he's the only character excluding pariston who has really a motive. most are just doing whatever they want or whatever they are tasked to do like the spiders and ants or petty stuff like bomber .... beyond is the first character in HXH that has a grand scheme like a true villain.
Nanika is a form of Ai. She says it all the time before she makes a wish. And next to the phrase (in the manga) where she says I'm from the dark continent it says "Ai"
