I applaude the transgender woman in this video who spoke so calmly but powerfully about this issue. I am both a transgender man and a medical doctor, and I feel for what she and her friend went through. As things improve, I hope she and others can feel safe to talk about this confidently
When I was a little girl my mom always got me a pixie cut, Audrey Hepburn in “Roman Holiday” style, only 5 year old style, and adults would call me a little boy. As an adult I started cutting my hair short too, but I was clearly a young woman and most people didn’t mistake me…,you get older, they mistake you again. I was indignant as a little girl and I didn’t care so much later. I was amused as a matter of fact. (I tried to fool people as I worked in the automotive business and many people automatically think you must be a guy). It’s funny when they see you are a female. Even as a little girl though, I thought boys were dorks and being a girl was awesome and the only advantage they had was being able to pee standing up without taking half your clothes down (if you wore pants). Otherwise boys were just dumb and had cooties.
I have had some of those thoughts as well, and it makes me think. Standing up to pee, is just one of many great advantages that trans women, or any other non-male identifying people, with penises can enjoy. Something to celebrate!

This is such a great video. I'm part of the LGBTQ and I'm studying to be a Nurse Practitioner. Thank you for filming this!
Yes, I agree. Thank you! Thank you for sharing your stories!
