I’m not a fan of Blue fragrances but BDC Parfum smells awesome and more than just a blue fragrance. The sandalwood accord is incredible. To me BDC Parfum is like a ‘Best Hits’ of Chanel rolled into one, the Bleu line, Allure line and even a bit of Platinum Egoiste and executed to perfection. Gotta try that one asap Marc and tell me if you also think that Olivier Polge outdid his father with the parfum haha!
The parfum is even better than the edp. I wanted to buy another bottle of Bleu but didn't know which one to go for. I sprayed all 3 on tester strips as I had received samples of the edp and parfum and had the last spays of my edt bottle left. The Parfum was so much smoother, deeper and more refreshing to sniff than the other 2, like all the rough edges had been taken away and a perfect version was created. I bought a 150ml parfum bottle😅
Yes, I ran through a 50ml bottle for almost two years and just purchased direct from Chanel a 150ml. At work I get whiffs again and again. The Opening is unique and fresh, after a couple of hours it smells like french Perfume, and I think it doesn´t go more french with that part. On a teststrip, one or two days later, I thought this smells like a well educated young man with Blue Jeans, a black leather belt, black chukka boots and a Light Blue Shirt with Long sleeves. Luca Turin compared the EDP Version with something like bringing poor and rich together in one bottle. This is exactly what the Parfum-Version brings to me. And it also suprises me cause sometimes I smell something new. The EDP I had a sample of it and in comparison to the Parfum-Version it smells way too sharp to me. The EDT I never smelled.
The EDP for me is the best for the types of occasions that one may wish to wear BDC. The Parfum...great as it is, ventures into more formal and evening areas that I prefer to use other fragrances....gourmands in particular. The EDP.....fits all occasions and does it with class and sophistication. That for me is what Bleu is really about. The Parfum is much less versatile....but yes...smells really good.

Glad to see you being surprised, Marc. Personally, for both Dior and Chanel releases, I like the Parfums of each. With Sauvage, I am not crazy about the EDT or the EDP, but the Parfum is great to me. Same thing with the Bleu de Chanels. So as you go up the tier / concentration list, it seems to have a bit more of a refinement, presence, and character, I'd say. Great impressions, man! Accidentally, an experiment happened, and to my surprise, I rediscovered BDC Edp again. Yesterday, before bedtime, I sprayed Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza on one wrist. Then my attention turned to BDC Edp, and I sprayed it on the other wrist. It was a shock. In contrast, I felt how good BDC Edp is! It has always been like pop music on the radio for me, and suddenly, a shock. After the video, I only did it again, and the result was the same. Thank you for your video!
It feels so nostalgic to watch all your new videos. I also agree that the parfum version is the best in the line if not the best Blue fragrance until today IMHO. Can't wait to see your take my friend.
BDC EDP is a gateway drug, something above average to beginner level noses that has a big brand name attached to it. For those used to Azzaro blues and then suddenly bam…BDC EDP shows you a different level. The key is to branch out from here…most don’t.
The late Kevin Samuels said that Bleu De Chanel is the first and one of the only three fragrances a man need (the other fragrances being Tom Ford Gray Vetiver and Terre'D Hemes).

I agree that blue fragrances are pretty boring overall. But I still wanted one for the collection and something different, so decided on BdC. The EDP was always the most recommended, but I tested all three. The EDP stood out as the best for me for sure. Don't wear it often, but enjoy when I do.

Agree to dis... I have a backup bottles of Savage edt. No other flanker and I bought my adult son Bleu edt 2 years ago for Christmas and he still has it.

Just for the sake of getting a BDC bottle I got the parfum version, smoother and richer than two previous ones. Only wore it occasionally for a short time and then it took a back seat. So just gave it away to my nephew recently.

Have you tried Sedley from Parfums de Marly ? It's a simplistic transparent "blue" scent but I think it is very good. I did not buy Bleu de Chanel EdP because I own a 2011 EdT batch that is really strong. But EdP of Bleu de Chanel is good, yes. Give Sedley a try, I think you will like it. The price is a bit too expensive but it's a Parfums de Marly.

This one is actually a pretty decent. I know that you are not a fan of "blue" scents but you should enjoy both this and parfum versions. However, I'd rather see Chanel releasing something completely new instead of going into another Bleu variation.
yeah, Im not a fan of EDT. I had a 50ml, blind brought and absolutely rinsed though it. finished it in a few days and forgot about it. but I got a sample of the EDP and thought, that's what BDC should have been. I find it more juicy and has the Chanel signature creaminess. not tried the Parfum yet though. but still, Pour Monsieur all the way for me when it comes to Chanel. platinum I love too but not as much as Pour Monsieur. i just wish they gave us a Parfum version. 😩
One word: meh 🤷♂ I remember smelling this and the perfume when they were released, I wasn't as obsessed with perfumes as I am now, I even didn't know about niche fragrances and I thought meh 😆even my girlfriend at that time thought the same, she loved and used my Terre D'Hermes and Fahrenheit... once you smell a very creative complex niche or indie fragrance, and it doesn't have to be super expensive just creative, you never go back to the designers, unless it's a Gucci Guilty Absolut or TF Noir Anthracite, then we're talking. Great review. This will never be for me. I prefer Sauvage Parfum. The blue aspect is a community misnomer. The inspiration for the “bleu” had nothing to do with aquatic. It came from the fantasy of smelling the aroma of the forest as you float above the tree line on a clear skies day. The blue thus referring to the sky not to water.
Think you are on to something with this description I'd add it's almost like wearing uniform :) Like nice uniform but not something that is exciting in any way, yeah we want something like Egoiste for sure but can we even dare to hope for it? :)
I love this by Bleu de Chanel EDP , it's more mature for older men, if you like to smell like a teenager this is not for you, I paid retail and I'm happy w/ my purchase.... Not only that, it's walking off the shelf and was on backorder when I went to purchase it intitially, I got the big boy bottle as you put it :) , so I can't be the only one who loves it..... Bro, I would have that nose of yours checked out..... I think you missed the mark on this one.... Love the opening of edp. But that dank smoky base is just nasty after awhile. Im so sick of these nasty smoky scratchy bases on all these modern scents.
the base will be discussed during the Test Drive take on this one. I do agree with you about bases but that has always been in the designer game. Just a top note to sell.
I had a 2ml sample of the EDP..thought it was most boring thing ever..Don't understand the hype especially at that price point. It literally sat there and evaporated 😂😂
Chanel is so basic 🤧 i just took my edp back to Dillard's yesterday. It smells like AXE PHOENIX or Suave ocean mens shower gel. Very standard and reserved.
In the time since I've started watching you over the past year, I've gotten the impression that you really do not like "blue fragrances." While it may be easy to be critical of the line, Chanel is credited with leading the "blue fragrance" genre (you will know better than me which fragrances, if any, actually came first but were not given the credit). I was expecting you to hate Bleu de Chanel EDP and was surprised by your reaction. I have the Parfum and find it to be a versatile workhorse. It can be worn dressed up, dressed down, for work, formal occasions, etc. It may not be as interesting as Le Lion or Sycomore, it does have its place. I just hope they don't follow the Elixir trend when they come out with a new men's fragrance and go off in a different direction.

I dont agree with you on a lot of things but... I dislike every Chanel frag, especially BdC. I recently got 2x150ml of Parfum... why? Because it has BdC dna but its polished so much, like a niche BdC, if there can be such a thing. I hate edt and edp I cant stand after 30 mins. Parfum is dark, inky, blue, smooth and lacks everything I disliked in both edt and edp. I really really want you to do Parfum asap because of this and its the only Chanel I will own. Sauvages are the same. Only Parfum and Elixir are worth. Edt and edp are for shit. Dylan Blue is the same, but my wife loves it so I have it. Smell the Parfum. You might like it same as me.
I find the grapefruit in those to be so bad it's almost amazing how bad they did it. I understand grapefruits have a sulfuric quality to them but that's all I smell in Bleu. The Parfum is much better in that regard and my favorite of the line but that's not saying much.
I totally agree - I've owned this one and the sharp grapefruit opening is grating. Once you get past that, the scent is just generic modern man's designer cologne, with a slightly mature edge. Nice presentation though.

Sauvage Elixir is better than Bleu De Chanel EDP and probably the best designer release with this type of DNA. Substantially better. Still, it's exorbitantly expensive. Why buy a blue scent for that money when you could get hundreds of other far superior things.

The Parfum is the only one of the three I own and I think it's magnificent. It's just sooo smooth and creamy and makes you feel a million bux

Yea the edp is cleaned up but it's far from one of the best from chanel. I do need to get a bottle of pour monsieur.

Great review. This will never be for me. I prefer Sauvage Parfum. The blue aspect is a community misnomer. The inspiration for the “bleu” had nothing to do with aquatic. It came from the fantasy of smelling the aroma of the forest as you float above the tree line on a clear skies day. The blue thus referring to the sky not to water.
Funny enough I actually went with the Parfum and EDT. The EDP to me sadly didn’t perform and just smell too similar to the EDT

Think you are on to something with this description I'd add it's almost like wearing uniform :) Like nice uniform but not something that is exciting in any way, yeah we want something like Egoiste for sure but can we even dare to hope for it? :)
I hope Chanel can return to some sort of daring release but the chances of that happening are very slim.
I love this by Bleu de Chanel EDP , it's more mature for older men, if you like to smell like a teenager this is not for you, I paid retail and I'm happy w/ my purchase.... Not only that, it's walking off the shelf and was on backorder when I went to purchase it intitially, I got the big boy bottle as you put it :) , so I can't be the only one who loves it..... Bro, I would have that nose of yours checked out..... I think you missed the mark on this one.... Last but not least, women love it on men's skin, more than men, I had a woman that I didn't even know move in close in the check out line just so she could get closer then she ask me what was I wearing..... ok, I listened to your whole spill, and it seems like you were coming around, I take back what I said about your nose ok :)

I actually really like the EDP. However, unfortunately on my skin, like a few others have said, I also get a urine smell in the mid.
That ain't right.
Parfum hands down is superior than the 1st two. I didnt care for either and they felt watered down for that price.

Edt is a 6 EDP is like a 7 while Dior Sauvage is like a 7.5and the EDP is a 8

Love the opening of edp. But that dank smoky base is just nasty after awhile. Im so sick of these nasty smoky scratchy bases on all these modern scents.
the base will be discussed during the Test Drive take on this one. I do agree with you about bases but that has always been in the designer game. Just a top note to sell.

I had a 2ml sample of the EDP..thought it was most boring thing ever..Don't understand the hype especially at that price point. It literally sat there and evaporated 😂😂

Chanel is so basic 🤧 i just took my edp back to Dillard's yesterday. It smells like AXE PHOENIX or Suave ocean mens shower gel. Very standard and reserved.
Bleu isn't great by any means, Chanel does have some great scents tho.
In the time since I've started watching you over the past year, I've gotten the impression that you really do not like "blue fragrances." While it may be easy to be critical of the line, Chanel is credited with leading the "blue fragrance" genre (you will know better than me which fragrances, if any, actually came first but were not given the credit). I was expecting you to hate Bleu de Chanel EDP and was surprised by your reaction. I have the Parfum and find it to be a versatile workhorse. It can be worn dressed up, dressed down, for work, formal occasions, etc. It may not be as interesting as Le Lion or Sycomore, it does have its place. I just hope they don't follow the Elixir trend when they come out with a new men's fragrance and go off in a different direction.
I don't see chanel as one to take chances. I would assume a safe elixir coming out with a cool packaging.
@@robes08 Quite probable. The recent additions to the Chance line showed them playing it safe. But, didn't they push things a little bit when they came out with Le Lion?

I dont agree with you on a lot of things but... I dislike every Chanel frag, especially BdC. I recently got 2x150ml of Parfum... why? Because it has BdC dna but its polished so much, like a niche BdC, if there can be such a thing. I hate edt and edp I cant stand after 30 mins. Parfum is dark, inky, blue, smooth and lacks everything I disliked in both edt and edp. I really really want you to do Parfum asap because of this and its the only Chanel I will own. Sauvages are the same. Only Parfum and Elixir are worth. Edt and edp are for shit. Dylan Blue is the same, but my wife loves it so I have it. Smell the Parfum. You might like it same as me.

I find the grapefruit in those to be so bad it's almost amazing how bad they did it. I understand grapefruits have a sulfuric quality to them but that's all I smell in Bleu. The Parfum is much better in that regard and my favorite of the line but that's not saying much.
I totally agree - I've owned this one and the sharp grapefruit opening is grating.
Once you get past that, the scent is just generic modern man's designer cologne, with a slightly mature edge. Nice presentation though.

Sauvage Elixir is better than Bleu De Chanel EDP and probably the best designer release with this type of DNA. Substantially better. Still, it's exorbitantly expensive. Why buy a blue scent for that money when you could get hundreds of other far superior things.
