    I've just completed a QM2 sailing and booked a Queen Victoria sailing for next year. I like the art deco interiors. This ship looks more like an up market car ferry.

    Congratulations, Chris, for living your dream on QUEEN A. I appreciate your well-narrated and filmed videos very much. The layout has much in common with her sisters ROTTERDAM and KONINGSDAM.

  • @mycruiseviews
    @mycruiseviews 7 месяцев назад +4

    Thanks for the video Chris. Having been on all 3 of her Cunard sisters she appears to be sitting in category of her own. I remember watching a doco about QM2 where Micky Arison passionately spoke about recreating the nostalgia of the Ocean Liner, a briefing which Stephen Payne and the design team delivered perfectly to reinvigorate the Cunard brand. Attention to detail and the Cunard history are referenced throughout QM2 (not to mention a genuine teak promenade deck!). Boarding QE & QV your breath is taken away by the grandeur of the staircase and marquetry mural capturing the essence of Cunard’s heyday. The theme is uniform across each ship with craftsmanship apparent in every space. Is it because QA has been launched in a period of cost cutting that the Cunard soul appears to be missing or is it because the company has a leadership driven by their next bonus rather than the legacy of creating a grand Cunard ship!

    • @ChrisFrameOfficial
      @ChrisFrameOfficial  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hello. The ship definitely seems to have a ‘soul’. There’s a warmth and energy about her that’s very reminiscent of the Cunarders that came before her. And so early on in her career too.

    9:24 I could be on Iona. There is NOTHING special or unique about this. The public spaces on the other Cunard ships felt special. They would have cases full of artefacts and information to brighten up a vestibule. This could be any ship. This could be a ferry. No flair, no creativity, nothing to stand out in what is a very crowded field.

    I must be fair and suspend all judgement until I have the chance to see it in person. My impression at this moment, doesn't make that event a top priority. Though the Blanche Devereaux Boudoir inspired wall coverings in the "Artisans Food Hall" does not go unappreciated. I leave this review with a longing for sailing aboard Queen Mary 2, and an even deeper appreciation for her build quality and unapologetic uniqueness. Thank you for the tour.

    • @michaelwhalen2469
      @michaelwhalen2469 7 месяцев назад

      I agree !! I live in Southern California and so went to Las Vegas many times. Especially when I was a kid with my parents in the 50’s and 60’s. Sin city was always infamous for its tacky and over the top interiors. It’s like they always seemed to just try too hard to be new and “ different “ !! No warmth, class or beauty. Just flashy gimmicks and vulgar colours! I also immediately thought of Vegas as I first viewed pictures and videos of the actual interior of Queen Anne !!! What’s with that UGLY Queens Room?? Are those Disco Balls hanging from the ceiling ??? Expect too see Elvis or John Travolta come walking around the corner any second!😂 I love the decor on the three other Queens. Elegant polished wood panelling, etched glass, buffed metal touches. Art Deco is the best looking design ever !! The “ New Generations “ can keep it 😒👎 I will gladly stick with the QM2 , Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth in the future !!

I’m comparing her a lot to QE2 and how “controversial” she is. But that’s how they break through some of the old and recreate the new. She seems a bit less stuffy than the others, but I don’t dislike the older traditional ships. She may wind up in a class of her own, so to speak.

    Hi Chris, thank you for providing this video about Queen Anne. The tour was unbiased and, I think showed the ship for what it is. I believe that it is not possible for one to form too strong an opinion of a ship unless you see it and experience it for yourself. That said my Wife and I have been fortunate to cruise on all of the other current Queens many times and we just struggle to see any strong brand connections to this ship. To an extent Queen Anne seems to have more in common with some of the later P & O vessels and maybe Celebrity -perhaps Holland America? It looks quite smart ( apart from some eye jarring carpets in places) though lacks any of the regal ambience that her sisters display. I do not think the basic shape of the ship , let alone the decor, suits the brand. Some of the "Wow Factor" that appears to be missing might be introduced on future refits , but sadly things like a proper Promenade deck will not be possible. I am very sorry to have to say it , but Carnival might find it easier to market this cruise ship under one of their other fleets.

      I sailed many times on QE2 and thought her plasticity was everywhere! Yes, she was a phenomenal ship in many ways, but sorry, the Queen Anne blows her away in terms of a beautiful blending of contemporary and Art Deco/Moderne styles. Also noteworthy is the attention paid to traffic flow and affording passengers a logical way of making their way through the various decks and gathering places. My comments refer to her interior, not her stack-upon-stack design of her exterior, with little space left for bow or stern. The QE2 certainly surpassed her in spades on these features!

      Good job we’re all different - the QM2 cabins for me look dated and frankly ready for retirement or if I were to be harsh aimed at those in a retirement home.

    There is a marvelous blending of nostalgic Art Deco and Moderne--recalling a rich heritage, yet the ship has an engaging contemporary air. I say a job well done...and I am ready to sail!

    Ok, I like the Pavillion. This is the one instance where I think Cunard listened because the pools on the QV and QE are utterly unusable in inclement weather. Which is not good when you're doing Ex-UK cruises in December. I can remember trying to use the pools on the QE when I was on a canaries cruise and it was only really possible 50% of the time. Not that rain always stopped me 🤣 nice to see Cunard took the hint and created such a pleasant inside/outside space and it's just a shame the rest falls short.

    Those chevrons on the carpets must have come out of some committee concerned with people getting lost. I think I’d expect the whole belt of carpet to start moving. Other ships have managed subtle and creative ways of indicating direction much more successfully.

    I'll be boarding QM2 on Sunday, for my 8th or 9th crossing, and I must say, this new ship looks like something another company might build, and nothing like a Cunard ship. To me, the only thing that looks like an improvement is the Royal Court Theater. (QM2's looks very dated, imho, and did already in 2006!)
    But since I really only do transatlantic, I'll probably never be on QA. I always enjoy your videos!

    The Grand Lobby cafe was not open until day 3 because they didn't have the staff to run it and then it was open for 2 and half hours in the morning only and that increased by an hour. Basically a dead zone most of the day, apart from guests queuing at the pursers desk to pass on their thoughts and experiences. The other aspect of the grand lobby that I thought was strange was that on formal nights they close off the access stairs for the photographers so as not to trouble them, by you know paying guests who want to travel between decks in this area.

    The wallpaper in the Golden Lion appears to be too light; it looks a bit like a front parlour rather than a public bar.
    I am surprised that the casino and the Queen's Room are 'open'; I would expect quite a bit of noise to emanate from both of them so this will carry into other areas in the absence of partition walls of some form.
    The boat deck is very different with the boats being mounted closer to the deck than on the other Cunard ships. This is the first time that I have seen this arrangement on any ship - is this a first?

    I totally agree, too contemporary, not living up to the Cunard trademark at all. Looks like any other cruise ship. They have lost track completely. They are going Marriott instead of Downton Abbey which would be their natural habitat.

    That main-lobby staircase looks very narrow. Given its length you are likely to pass several people going in the opposite direction but because it is so narrow one party or the other will probably have to give way.
