- We're finally working on a DIY Makeover for our Front Porch! Our previous landscaping efforts didn't last, so we're doing some DIY Front Yard Landscaping using upgraded products, and sharing my best Decorating Ideas for a Small Front Porch. It's so beautiful Megan. Have you thought of painting the bottom of your home white? Look at the front, the cement below your white walls. Painting it white. Would blend and make the home look modern.

I think I would put the sticker on top as people walking or driving by could see that packages would be stored in there, if it is on the front. Love what you have done to your yard. Great job!.

I agree...And I would also anchor the container down, thieves will walk off with the whole thing if they want it bad enough. People are horrible. Cute ideas though.
I agree with others that you may want to select another way to prevent weeds than Roundup. Another comment regarding Roundup-- Roundup actually needs to be sprayed on the leaf of the weed for it to work. So the weeds need to actually be coming through the ground before it works.
I already sprayed it. You saw that I used it in the video. I can’t suck it back out of the ground & use something different.

Beautiful job! 🌺 🪴 Just an idea: You could paint the concrete area below your siding with a black or white paint, you could just do the front portion if you didn’t want to do all the sides of the house! It would really make that area look crisp! 😊

Good idea
Megan get yourself a gutter extender for that gutter that spills into the flower bed. Your front looks amazing. The extender will redirect the water and keep your foundation and mulch dry which can cause termites. If you have any other gutters that spill out next to the house you might want to install them there as well. You don’t need anymore issues yo pop up.

Round Up is a systemic herbicide meaning it enters the plant through the leaves and is transported to the roots of actively growing plants. Spraying it on bear soil doesn't do anything. To keep from starting to grow you should use a preemergent herbicide which stops seeds from germinating. Hope this was helpful. The final product looks lovely.

Round up is in many countries in Europa forbidden .Is dangerous and bad for enviroment
It's beautiful. They make a spray colorant for the nuggets if you wanted to use that. They also make a mulch glue that you can spray around the perimeter to keep the nuggets actually in the flower beds. But it all looks great!
We don’t want to use glue in case we plant more flowers
Everything looks beautiful! Regarding the deck box - maybe consider putting a heavy, flat paver on the bottom, so it stays in place and won’t blow away when it’s empty.
It doesn’t need one. We haven’t had any issues with it blowing away
It's Spring, so pretty!! Happy the bistro set was in good condition, so you could use it again! Getting away from using wood mulch, is worth the money, & the effort. Rest, relax, & enjoy!

Round up is so bad! Our neighbor is in a lawsuit with the maker. He’s got stage 4 cancer . We have never used and warn everyone we know about the dangers !

Can you tell me what is a roundup?
Roundup and most chemicals are not good for thyroid health. It disrupts the endocrine system. Live with thyroid problems and you get this really fast. So hard to regulate. Even lawn spray. Have to stay inside format least 2 days or heavy rain until it is gone. Despise the stuff.

We did the mulch nuggets under our kids swing set area when they were kids. Really liked it too.
I’m so happy with it, wish we had made the switch sooner!
Tip:* if you want * you can add a DT cookie cooling rack in the box just incase water creeps inside . The rack will hold it up a little so your 📦 don't sit in water. Other then that, Love how it turned out. Very clean looking. I need to do something with mine so I was looking for inspiration and your video came up 😊
The deck box is weather proof and there aren’t any cracks in the seal, but thanks for looking out. 😊

Ciao from Italy, i wouldn't use weed killer instead plant beautiful ground covers so you don't have to use chemicals, it will effect plants anyway slow down growth so on..Well i'd put nice gravel all around the house if i thought to walk on it...

Love the makeover, looks very nice. Great idea using the deck box for packages. I think I would put the sign on top of the box. That way no one will see it from the street and know it’s for packages. 😊

Megan as usual your decorating is top notch. I have neighbors that keep up with their outside of their homes and keep them looking nice on the outside. It means a lot to me to have neighbors that care about their homes just like you❤❤❤ I’m definitely going to look into the nuggets, I always buy mulch and it fades so fast!!
We’ve done mulch for the last 3 years and got tired of spending hundreds every spring for it to fade by Fall 😭
I’ve always tried my best to keep up with the outside of our house. I know I like it when our neighbors houses look nice. Plus it brings up the value of the neighborhood as a whole!
All you need now is a little Fountain So pretty
We don’t want a fountain because they can sometimes attract mosquitoes, but we did get a bird bath 🤗
@@lovinglifeasmegan If the mountain is running You don't get mosquitoes a bird bat just sitting will get the mosquitoes non moving water attracts mosquitoes floating water does not attract the mosquitoes but it's up to you thank you anyway
I so agree with the power washer. We had a less expensive one and it was awful saving now for a new one😬
It was such a waste getting the cheap one! It didn’t do a good job to begin with & broke after 2 uses. The seller wouldn’t accept a return because it was used, so we ended up wasting $100.
We like the new one so much better and it was just a couple hundred more than the cheap one.
A sunsetter awning would look great over your front sitting area, it retracts also!
We are thinking about doing something like that for our back patio this year!
I love it. The mulch nuggets look so real and perfect in that space. I love powerwashing too. It is amazing what a difference it makes!

Roundup kills what’s there but the best for long term is to sprinkle Preen wherever you don’t want weeds. It will keep weeds from germinating 😊

I love porch makeovers! That being said, we stopped using a Roundup years ago because it seeps into the ground water and gets into the water supply and then into our food and it’s a poison!
I would put the sticker on the top of the box, so that people that are looking to steal packages are not alerted to the fact that it may contain packages.

Megan you can buy mulch glue that will keep the nuggets in place. It'll save money in the long run because you won't have to replace what washes away.

Karrie and Derick you did an Amazing job on your landscaping/ porch remodel, It looks so good. And I love the planters, herbs and flowers ❤ I am a retired Delivery driver and I just have one piece of advice for you, Don't put the sticker on the front of your parcel box, put it on top. Too many porch pirates these days and packages are getting stolen all the time... people actually follow delivery trucks and go and steal packages 😢😢😢 The drivers will see the sticker on top of the box and hopefully not the porch pirates 😊 Blessings and Love to you and your Family 🙏❤️🙏♥️🙏

The rubber mulch is great for kids play areas. We use them in the school playground. Just be aware that there’s definitely a smell when it gets really hot.
I figured, there’s a smell with wood mulch too

I love the make over I was wanting to suggest what if you painted the concrete part under the siding (I think that’s what it’s call 😅) black to match the dark mulch would look nice 🤗☺️

It would be a lot of money to have them taken out & replaced with something else, so it’s not a priority for us this year.

The front turned out so beautiful!!! I am the same on the flower beds I only use river rock. I am not touching that again and it is a waste of time and money doing mulch, not knowing what kind of bugs your house may get infested with because of it. You will appreciate this next spring!!! ❤

Love it! Oh darn, I’ve been buying the black mulch 6 bags at a time. I should have looked into the nuggets. I love the lanterns and am def going to buy them for my front porch😊

@@lovinglifeasmegan couldn’t agree more. I finally got my sisters old dresser in my bedroom over this week but I don’t like how it’s taken up space in my room when my room is so small as it is. I have limited space in my room and my tv hooks up to one side of the area in my bedroom so idk 🤷🏻♀️ what I’m going to to do. Wanted to keep ya posted lol.

I would have put the sign on the drop box package container on top not front Incase you have people driving by looking to take shipment packages. Seeing the sign from the road on the front view of it gives them the heads up "mmmm we can come here from now on and check their box" and since it's plastic... dropped on any corner would crack the box to get in it. Just like a safe box. Dropped on its corners make it an easy steal.

You are definitely not alone when it comes to power washing…Buuuutttt….you have to be careful because I started power washing and decided it would be cool to do a wooden fence panel….umm….you can’t do just one fence panel….I ended up doing close to 40 because again, you can’t do just one. 😂😂😂 Lord have mercy, my hands were vibrating for hours!! 😅

They have been much better for us than the mulch!
A lot of the pots at HomeGoods do not have drainage holes in them, but they do have beautiful pots.
Every planter I got in this video had a drainage hole 😊

Nice job ❤with the mulch. You should also mulch the side too to tie in the color along towards the back. There are two different volt mulches 😮.

Very pretty! You can save money by choosing a "pre-emergent" weed killer. Spraying Roundup or other weedkiller will do nothing unless it comes into contact with plant foliage, so it's a waste of money unless it has a built in pre-emergent.

It’s been working out so well! Our delivery drivers love it!
The mulch pellets look great! For the seating area, I know there is a mulch glue you can get and it just sprays on so it won't get moved around when you walk on it. I maybe wouldn't do all of the beds, but definitely the seating area would be a good idea!
We don’t want to use any mulch glue because we put Halloween & Christmas lights in that front flower bed, and we may decide to plant some perennials sometime soon.
