I have to say, this tutorial is perhaps one of your better explained ones. At least, to me, figuring out pin-pointing details, shades and the inevitable colorization. You give so much, and I truly appreciate it

I have struggled trying to move into painting for about a year, (seriously!) but your videos have helped me to start painting so much since i began watching them, now i just need to practice the things I've learned more, thank you!

I thought you said that you were going to merge the sketch down and work it into the painting--? I think you just painted detail in. It would be VERY interesting to see you integrate the sketch and painting on one layer, especially in real time. Similarly, I'd love to see you take this guy's bust further.
I have to say that your command of English is _extremely_ impressive. Another great video! BTW: Your next painting should be "Borro on a Burro." (I couldn't resist!)

Thiago Fontes I'm still so much the "draftsman" that ANY approach I used for painting would HAVE to include an under (over?) drawing to map my progress. It seems a shame to let a perfectly good drawing go to waste. ;)

applied these techniques to a painting today and its so much more realistic. I'd like to see a painting of a creature underwater and how the atmosphere underwater effects colors and shadows at different distances because, water is more dense than air.

I really wanted to finish the 4 stage process as you started and it feels as though you "dropped the painting" in the 4th episode. That is a shame because your ability to teach as you were working on the zombie was very educational while actually applying it to the Zombie. Oh well.... Thanks you for all the time you took to due the 4 tutorials. All in all they were awesome.

oh,I figure out what seems odd in this face (except he is all green and... dead)!
    Eyes is too low!
When you turn off the sketch layer at the beginning - dark eyes shadows looks absolutely realistic,
and when you turned it on - it suddenly seems somehow not right...

boro, i notice you use pressure based opacity on your brushes, i cannot understand this technique because when I do it I get horrible overlapping where two colours of varying opacity meet. It just makes everything messy. Do you have any really basic videos, or tips for painting and blending using opacity? thanks

Big question : how do you live with your artist life? I saw that with 15000 suscribers (congrats!) you only have 30 persons to pledge on Patreon, and I'm pretty sure you need more than 70$/month to live^^
I know there's also RUclips money and orders, but I'm interesting and how you spend your time? Because besides of the work, your technic constantly evolves and your learn so much, I'm impressed every time you talk about how reflected lights come and such.

  • @dansuduhast1051

What Brushes (and on which settings) do you use to blend? Cause im having the hardest time figuring it out, whenever i try to add shadows and blend, *firstly* the color doesnt come out with full opacity and *second* it almost always looks muddy.

    • @SketchyTigers
      @SketchyTigers 4 года назад

You've probably figured it out by now but all of Boro's brushes in photoshop are dry brushes. Flow and Opacity are controlled by the stylus pressure.
Your issue with the shadow not coming out at full opacity sounds like an issue with your tablet drivers, you have your brush blending set too high, or your pressure curve is set too strong. Muddyness comes from over blending. A good exercise is using the simple round brush with pressure linked to opacity without any blending.
Oh also most digital artists blend by colour picking the transition colours on the painting apart from lightly using their brush over the area to develop transitions. Usually a hot key assigned to one of the stylus buttons.
      Hope that helps

So I love to paint with spots like you do, but I'm new to digital paint... I'm afraid I never get to learn line work, what do you think about that? Any advices? I watch all the videos so if you can comment it anywhere I'll see =)
