Thanks bud. I'm building a 49 Chevy and the 5-in gauges are expensive and this is the exact idea I was thinking. Now that I've seen it done, I plan on popping a tablet in the spot of my gauges due to being on a tight budget.
Great video and cool modification on the E36. LS is alway the answer ;) Couple of questions: So you are able to tune - just like you would with the Holley screen - on the android? Or does the android simply act as a gauge cluster. Also - any way to bluetooth this to get rid of the wires?
@@LowBoostFilms Do you by chance have a video of how you did this? I have an e46 im trying to do the same thing, well sorta, got an LY6 but same concept. Good idea using the windows tablet, had the same idea using hp tuners with my surface pro.
@@daytongriffin5103 easy, outside of the rpm gauge that gets wired through the Holley, everything works other than the mpg gauge. I disabled the coolant one it’s so inaccurate
@@LowBoostFilms I believe the holley screens will show it with a holley ecm, just wasn’t sure if the tinker does or not. Not a big deal, as dakota makes a part that will display what gear the trans is in. GSS-3000.
Ya and you can build Them youself for under 500 buks mey much less. is they only thing holding me back from opgrade my polo derby from 83. I could build one. But i what aem stuff because of the 22 channel sensor modul. And its nothing. You can do mere with this then a screen can show 🙈
@@LowBoostFilms ok thanks, i will probably try it, as i dont want to drop a grand on a pro dash honestly, running a t56 with a x max so i think if i put a speedo output in it may work. Love the car btw
You could also wire the speedo output on the t56 to the original dash, if you can’t wire it to the x max. My speedo signal comes from my differential on my bmw, so it works just as it originally did.
Can you run the set up wizard and run the tablet instead of the small 3.5” touch screen. I’m looking to order a terminator x without the small screen and just run a tablet. Is this possible?
It's fairly easy to set up via a tablet/laptop instead of the 3.5 inch..just ended up going through the process today. You don't really go through a set up wizard like you wouod with the 3.5 inch but instead you can upload a base tune similar to your setup and change a couple options like injectors and map sensor etc.
I wonder if I can use the iPad instead of windows window that shits going to slow down in another year you’re better off just paying $700 in getting the best you can get
@@ford9050 kind of! I looked it up and thought it was cool. Then when I had to update my tablet to Term X V2 I couldn’t get it to work anymore no matter what I did. So instead of getting a new tablet I got Tinker’s!

Perfect!
Great video! Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it
You can get a splitter to run both screens at once. I built my own
I should do that too!
Thank you, this is a car less expensive option for me. Currently LS swapping an e46 drifter
Oh nice! It’s holding up well 2 years later too
Thanks for the great info!!
You’re welcome!

It functions just like a laptop, but it would be hard to make adjustments on a small screen
Is there a speedometer option on there?
There isn’t, but I think you could wire in a gps speedo I think for an input.
Cool science.
Yea I lucked out here!
How do you go about retaining the factory dash gauges ?
Outside of the rpm gauge. All the others were unaffected. The coolant I disabled because it’s not accurate for LS in a BMW
@@LowBoostFilmswhat are the factory gauges hooked too and getting their readings from?
@@bnkrdbones4391most not he factory gauges don’t need the ecu so they work untouched. Just needed a wire for the tach from the Holley.
How were you able to retain the stock gauges?
Most stayed the same outside the rpm which I tapped into from the ecu. Coolant did work but it was way off so i unplugged it

Does this work for Sniper as well?
Yes it will
Do you have to manually turn on your tablet each time you start your car?
Yes, but it’s not that hard, but I don’t always use it since I have my normal gauges
@@LowBoostFilms how hard was it to keep the stock gauges?

Did you ever get it to connect to a charger and connect to the Terminator at the same time?
I didn’t, my tablet gave out on me recently and I switched to a Tinkered Engineering display. But it definitely can be done.
@@LowBoostFilmsCan the tinker display show what gear the transmission is in?

How do you keep the stock dash wipers and turn signals to work
They all work through the chassis harness, which I didn’t touch with the swap.
So what’s the part number that is similar in size to the 6.86 holley dash?
Idk the part number. I think it’s their 7 inch one
Those holley screens are too expensive for something so small, like 1200+ for a 6inch screen that’s insanse
Yeah, this was a great alternative

There are other options now... 10" digital dashes for $500
I have a question i have the same set up is there a way to check missfires or check engine health on this terminator?
Not that I’m aware of
Just what I was looking for . Holley dash is too expensive. Will these hold up to the Gforces of a 8 sec car? Thanks
If you got a good grippy mount yes. The magnet not so much.
@@LowBoostFilms I’m making an aluminum frame it will slide in and out of.

I don’t think so. You need windows
I AM PUTTING A SURFACE 3 IN WITH THE TERMINATOR X. I ALSO WANT TO USE THIS AS MY MEDIA CENTER, CAN I?
I don’t think so.
Can you use the tablet for this and have a speedometer gauge on the screen as well and it work?
I haven’t tried to get the speedometer to work on they Holley so I don’t know if you can. I don’t need to because my stock one works.

Do you have a updated site for the tablet

Where's the link for the harnesses for the Intimidators
amzn.to/3kog3HW That’s the link to the data cable, you’ll just have to get a cheap USB to micro USB adapter

No problem!
do you have a link for your micro split cable?
Here is a link to a different one. My wires have gotten a little lost So I wouldn’t recommend the exact one I have. amzn.to/3ltSz4n

Idk, I think everyone comes with the screen. It is very easy to set up on the little screen. After that you will need a laptop to do tuning.
