Great advice! One can think of charity shops as clothing lending libraries - for a small charitable donation, you can experiment with styles to find out whether they’re “you” long term or not, the re-donate or resell them. Lately, I’ve been going in looking for specific pieces but it was fun just collecting interesting, esoteric pieces as they crossed my path and playing with styling them for a while.
Me and my friends do a seasonal charity shop outfit challenge where we go on a shopping date and have to find the best autumnal/spring outfit. We love it and helps narrow down /give direction to look for seasonal peices Maybe idea for future charity shop video ;-)
Such a good idea! I’ve never been shopping specifically for an entire outfit before but you’re right, it’s a great way to look for seasonal pieces and think about how particular pieces will work to wear and style x
I might have shared before, so apologies if so… - buy scarves or unpick men’s ties (often silk) for a couple of £ to wrap presents in. You then just need a ribbon to tie and all can be used or re-donated by the recipient after opening. - buy jewellery pieces and break for the beads/sequins to use for craft/kids projects, rather than buying new plastics. - try on other sizes. Some makes have changed their sizing over the years, so what was once a size 10 is now equivalent to size 6/8 as body types have changed.
A few tips for charity shopping/thrifting and what I look out for when buying secondhand x

That’s such an interesting way of thinking about it! It’s lovely to be able to give some clothes/books/crockery a new lease of life x

These are such good tips! Especially the jewellery one as I had never thought of doing that. Thank you for the tips! X
