  • ⬇READ MORE BELOW⬇Viewer’s request TUTORIAL for Sophie. “Liz on Top of the World” is part of the music from the motion picture soundtrack “Pride and Prejudice”. About SMP level 5 (intermediate)
In this video I play the solo piano part at tempo then slowly. I divided the tutorial into 8 manageable practice sections for fingering suggestions and those that don’t currently read music notation.
The fingering suggestions marked in red on the score are my own and have been carefully considered and may differ from the fingering I used without consciously thinking about fingering when playing the piece at tempo.

Because you don't know music. I read one time and unrstood everything composer has written, easy as hell structure, as all modern music. 🤣 waste of time to learn a piece if you know nothing about thoery/harmony. Just really waste of time and frustration, if you are not a musician (person who knows music and NOT that play copying the movements, to me a real musician go deeply inside the piece, understanding and re creating the original mind of the composer) Open T h e B O O K S. easy. Lazy people.

During this whole quarantine situation, it's been my goal to learn this song. I've always wanted to learn how to play it (I walked down the aisle to this song), and this video has been soooo helpful in me learning!!!
I bought the sheet music and thought I wasn't experienced enough to play it, but I've been working hard and after a couple of weeks, I can play it all the way through slowly and play half of it at speed so far! I never, in my wildest of dreams, thought I'd even be able to even do that much! I'm going to keep going until I get it.
Thanks again. This video and the fingerings you've given have helped SO much!

@@heartofhawaii8232 you've got this!!! And hey, since I posted that comment, I got to the point where I can play this song pretty darn well, and I don't even look at the music anymore. You get to the point where it's all muscle memory and by ear, which sounds like your strong suit! I bet you'll get it sooner than you think!!!

@@heartofhawaii8232 I've been playing for 2 years and I dont read sheet music either. I don't even know the names of different scales etc. It took me like 2 whole weeks but I can finally play this entire piece at the correct tempo. Believe me, since have a good ear, you've got this down. You don't need sheet music knowledge. Just keep practicing and I know you will be able to play this perfectly very soon. Good luck 👍

Great job on the tutorial. This is a simple, but very elegant piece. Dario is an excellent composer, and his other film scores are excellent. Always haunting and sparse. How about doing some of the music from the superb soundtrack for Breathe by Dustin O'Halloran; similar style, Chopinesque or perhaps more accurately Grieg-ish. Opus 20 (5 minutes), or Summer Waltz (1 minute) are both excellent.
