    There are many songs based on this chord progression. A few examples:
    Frank Sinatra - fly me to the moon
    Gary moore - still got the blues
    Vivaldi - winter
    Atumn leaves
    Michael Fugain - une belle histoire
    Etc.

      It’s because this melody lasts for 30 seconds in Passacaglia by Johann Halvorsen. In the beginning of the 6 minute piece it doesn’t sound like this, the melody comes in later. Since it’s not heard right of the bat, people don’t associate this melody with passacaglia

    • @Mrs.Karen_Walker
      @Mrs.Karen_Walker 4 года назад +25

      passacaglia is not the name of this piece. passacaglia is merely the name of a dance, just like, allemande, sarabande, menuet, bourree, gigue, courante, hornpipe etc. Handels passacaglia is part of a whole suite.

    • @snailswirl
      @snailswirl 4 года назад +20

      Gretchen Thunberg actually passacaglia is a type of compositional form. It is a piece that consists of a repeated bass line.

    • @gauthiergimenez5434
      @gauthiergimenez5434 4 года назад +3

      Alexandra Engen right. But a dance too! Usually near the Ciaccona. A danse at 3 times, practiced in the court of the XVIIth century in France.
      But the passacaglia is not often a part of the suite as the allemande, courante, sarabande, menuet, gigue etc.

      @Tyler-1203 Год назад +18

      I would be very cautious in considering this Handel piece easy, hitting the right notes or having a melody repeat itself will help but you must get so many things right in piano playing, interpretation, fluidity, soft touch, correct fingering, right notes, the piano, mezzo forte the forte, the pedal, the tempo, memorization, the heart you put into the piece that the listener will hear
      The list goes on
      Nothing is easy in beautiful piano playing

    With the left hand is there a specific reason that you seem to alternate between using the first (pinky) and second (ring) finger to play the second note of the arpeggio?

  • @anisramli6404
    @anisramli6404 3 года назад +2

    Hi. After watching you play this, I looked for the sheet music. That left hand was so difficult to play...especially when combined with the right. But after a week of practice, I got so much better...but not playing at your speed here of course. Thank you for inspiring me!

    • @janeyue7491
      @janeyue7491 2 месяца назад

      The trick is to figure out the chords for the left hand. I think it is A minor, D minor, G major, C major, F major , D minor, E major, back to A minor… something like that. Once you figure that part out, the left hand is the same pattern over and over again.

    I hear similarities of the chord progression/bass movement of this piece in the pop song "I Will Survive." Can anyone else hear it too? Question: Is this considered an original piece of music by Johan Halvorsen or is it considered as just an arrangement of the more famous Handel's Passacaglia at the end of his Keyboard Suite No. 7 HWV 432 (1720)? And beautifully played here, Stanislav! I just got a copy of it and I'm going to work on it now. Not only is it a beautiful piece and looks to be very much fun to play, but it's also a good finger exercise as well as arpeggio exercise to boot. I love the bass pattern here.

    Un arrangement très pianistique pour une œuvre d’abord destinée au clavecin. Cette musique, à l’origine très rythmique (voir ce qu’en a tiré Saint- Preux dans le final du « piano sous la mer »), revêt ici un charme lascif, presque mélancolique, et, de plus, très intéressant pour les doigts. Merci !

      Because this piece is not Barocco's, it's modern interpretation of a line from Handel/Halvorsen's Passacaglia. Would be good to know who wrote it

    Прекрасное исполнение, вы супер! Немного не понял только в нотах опечатка, пару раз смещение на октаву выше в скрипичном ключе, а играете не изменяя тональности. Но всё равно огромное спасибо!!!

      @StanislavStanchev  4 года назад +2

      Большое спасибо! :) Правильный способ написать на октаву выше - 1:16, которую я играю :) Я решил проигнорировать цифру «8» раньше просто потому, что она была написана неправильно :) С наилучшими пожеланиями!
