I watched the eclipse at McGee Hill, then hiked the Inspiration Point Trail. I walked a short distance down Snake Road, but by then my feet were very sore (from spending most of the time waiting for the eclipse standing/wandering around, and hiking the IP trail), so I called it a day and turned back. Didn't get to see any snakes there; however, at McGee Hill, there was something hiding beneath a pile of leaves, but I left it alone. I was surprised to see that there were adult grasshoppers present.

Incredible! I’ve hardly seen any snakes during all the miles of hiking I’ve done in WNC. What an epic road you hiked 🐍

I want to go this week, is it too late/is it still open to walk?

The road is open again to vehicles. You can still visit and see snakes around the swamps.

    Does it eat rats?
